Precisely! He has such a ear for the melodic and each note is a gem. I+ve played guitar for years so I know other famous guitarists but a lot of them just play a lot of notes very fast, but it doesn't move me or tell me anything! The guitarists I love are those who know how to deliver a great melody, sometimes even understated, say BB King :) It did not surprise me at all...the sound was so Gibson like! hehe Thats why I generally prefer Gibson cuz they have a warmer full bodied sound, but I must admit I am in awe at what Jonny can get out of his fenders. No doubt the many effects help too :) If you cant fanboy here, where can you? haha No I love it! I am a big guitar fan myself. Maybe we should continue this in one of the instrument threads? :)

For a dane like me, this place is practically the Garden of Eden haha I´ve never seen so much sun for so long in years! Im in SoCal, Orange County, around Disneyland :) Been mostly around here so far but also to Laguna Beach one day, gorgeous little place :)

Hmm its a bit hard to guess who did what also because they were supposedly imitating the other. I agree that the first solo sounds like Champagne but stylistically it resembles Jonny´s style as well (it shimmers and goes all over the place), while the second solo has the Oasis trade mark bending of the note hehe, but then again its also repeats again and again a few notes which also used to be Jonny´s style (before he went crazy with the full palette of notes from MX onwards haha) So hard to say...I am tending towards : first solo by Noel imitating Jonny, second solo by Jonny imitating Noel. But yeah there are equal arguments for the other way around too.

Oh God yes...I still remember the shivers when I first heard his contribution to "Dont panic" . I was like..what is this heavenly sound? haha I also had fun playing his licks on Viva on my Epiphone Supernova :)

No wonder they love Oasis so. They remind me of Oasis. Whatever Noel makes, even if its a guitar fart it ends up being beautiful LOL Same with Coldplay as far as I am concerned.

I want to have a serene experience listening to this album but maybe it will happen in 10 years time haha Many a tears were shed to GS tunes (or attempted to be shed, I dont seem to be able to produce many tears LOL) and even now it gives me a powerful emotional reaction. I find the album just haunting in a beautiful yet dreadful way.

I still am seeing AHFOD as one full song. It will split up in my head with time hehe The song I tend to get a bit bored of though when it comes up is Amazing Day so far. Color spectrum is a cool little interlude but as I listen to the album while I walk outside it turns into just static in my crap earphones hehe The others I equally look forward to hearing.

Are we listening to the same album? LOL Jonny is all over like a weed (the best kind of weed hehe :P) and Guy has some of his best work here. The drums are often electronic I agree but we see some great Will moments too: Birds, Adventure come to mind.

I know Lukas from Natalie´s album (and the Coldplay version too) but I had no idea Famous Old Painters had leaked. I´ve just had no time for Coldplay geekiness since MX :/

I certainly dont know the Superbowl fans and what music they like hehe but remember that over 100 million people will be watching this! They are not all superbowl fans, its just a tradition to watch this for most americans, so the exposure will be very big. I´d be surprised if this won't have any effect on the sales just afterwards

Oh I wud give them a go for sure! I have in fact both jazz and metal hehe But Im not sure I could stomach a whole album of it *lol* I agree that good music is everywhere, but especially with jazz and metal there is such a specific sonic mood they set, you either can get into it or not, which I can for a few tracks, but dont think a whole album hehe This is one of Jonny´s most stellar quotes ! haha

Totally Jennifer, I cant see Gwyneth being "cool" *lol* But then again what do I know..he knows her of course, I dont :) Also I thought Birds must definitely be about Jennifer, its clearly about the hesitation of entering a new romance and then giving in to it. For the record, I absolutely adore Jennifer Lawrence, she is the anti star per excellence hehe

I love this geekiness about unreleased songs haha But I still dont get why people are so excited about them! They could all be predecessors to X marks the spot for all you know hahaha

The songs on X&Y were good, but I would have liked 2-3 to make it as b-sides. I agree it doesn't matter if you just listen to "Coldplay the playlist" hehe But if you sit and listen to an album from start to finish, to me it does matter how many songs there are on it in terms of how they flow together. And X&Y I still cant listen to it all in one go anymore...unlike all the other albums.

But....Jonny´s lick is gorgeously melodic hehe :) But yeah I know what kind of songs you mean. About Always In My Head, have you heard this karaoke version on youtube? I think its absolutely stunning and it brings out the underlying melody so much with its rich piano and strings. Give it a listen, tell me what you think :) You know sometimes its very hard to see if an artist is truly talented and has something to offer artistic wise or if its just a cheap commercial act, simply because so many artists get "swept" by the commercial machine (thank you multinationals) as soon as they are signed! Jewel comes to mind as an example. She is clearly talented but she was changed beyond recognition to something very shallow :/ I fear a lot of the young artists get their talent buried or hidden by all the shallow bling bling :/ Especially because they are young, inexperienced and also its next to near impossible to have creative control when you are a new artist signed to a big label :/ I kinda feel for them.
