I am starting to think the abnormally long wait for new songs is making people irritated on this forum. Every thread seems to have bickering of various sorts. Lets all take a breath :) As for Up In Flames, how can it be both bass heavy and simple? I'm intrigued.

I am kinda with Major on this one...I can understand the thread was created to share positive impressions on ETIAW as clearly a lot of negative opinions were already posted. That said, I find it baffling to say the least that people can not state their opinion without belittling others. I am afraid to break it to anyone out there but there is no truth when it comes to music taste: just opinions. So let´s respect one another. If we can not do that in a forum for Coldplay lovers, where else can we? We Coldplay fans are often abused enough elsewhere, don´t you think? :)

Roadie sheds light on Up In Flames...sounds AMAZING! I remember that this phase of things on X&Y is when I first heard Fix You. Dan Green and I had been up at a studio in west London pulling the multi-tracks apart and I was driving back to the rehearsal room to get to work. It only took a couple of listens for that song to burn itself forever into the brain. Even on a first listen, the degree to which people would take it to their hearts was completely obvious. Up In Flames feels the same to me right now. It’s immense. I first heard it when the guys were sound-checking at the iTunes show. Apparently, Chris had started the song the previous night, so it was less than 24 hours old at that point. It was hypnotic in its simplicity, but devastatingly, achingly gorgeous. The final version has lost none of this and is a masterwork of restraint. It hasn’t been crammed with a million ideas and embellishments. Every part is there simply to enhance the emotional impact. I can only predict floods of tears in every quarter.

I think it might be a download-only track, although of course I hope for a proper single and b-side :)

Ah exactly the same here. I have listened to Viva much more than any other Coldplay album. I have always loved the last album more than all the others and I think MX won´t be an exception...:jester:

i´ve been a fan since Parachutes, but became a really serious fan after Rush of Blood and started to go to concerts after X&Y, so it has been a lovely love affair, which I hope will continue to escalate :dazzled: And for the record in case anyone doubted: I LOVE the new material and think MX will become my fav Coldplay album :vuvuzela: Especially since :jonny: has finally been unleashed!

Yes that's probably why but then it makes you wonder why sticking to and following a band that has apparently disappointed you for over a decade. There is no way I would waste time keeping up and be involved in a band whose recent music I dislike in the hope of them coming back to do another the first album. I don't get them :)

Quit a peculiar stand, considering it all comes down to the music :) if you really can't stand the new songs, you might want to sit this one out...no point in getting more and more frustrated about how the new songs keep disappointing you :)

Since VIVA, the guys have been quoted saying that they are trying to move out of the usual verse-chorus-verse formula. That said, I think all songs have a chorus so far, just sometimes the chorus is instrumental, like in Charlie Brown! :)
