The Snow Patrol Thread
But those are simple love phrases that don't think they're clever. And that's one thing I've always liked about Snow Patrol - they never try too hard. They keep things simple and effective.

Anyone else worried about the length?
Remember that X&Y's tracks were all standard length or longer (seriously, "Low" went on at least 2 minutes too long), whereas we'll likely have a couple brief interlude pieces here. We already know MX is a brief opener, anyway. VLVODAAHF also wasn't quite as short as it seemed, as 3 of the tracks were multi-part songs. Really, I have many more things I'm worried about with this album than length.

"Those Distant Bells" and "New York" are vintage Snow Patrol, but I think my favorite is "The Weight of Love", which sounds like a really effective progression of Snow Patrol's sound. Take some early career prog, mix in some of Gary's tricks from Tired Pony, give it some raw pop from AHMS, and throw in a few entirely new things and you have that song. Also, I'm confident no song on Fallen Empires will have a name as terrible as "Don't Let It Break Your Heart". ;):P

Official Tracklist!!!
Exactly. Figures Coldplay would be the one to break that glass ceiling of gayness. :P Some terrible track names for sure, and ETIAW into Major Minus has to be the album transition from hell (at least I can skip it in one chunk), but at least the latter half of the album is stacked with thus-far unheard material.

Official Tracklist!!!
Moving to Mars is officially a B-side. Gay.

Don't know when my friend can upload the rest of her videos, but I found some other users' videos of a few new songs: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxb13kTQJDA]Snow Patrol - Those Distant Bells - Shepherds Bush Empire 05/09/2011 - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKJpw1KcwfQ]Snow Patrol - This Isn't Everything You Are - Shepherds Bush Empire 05/09/2011 - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FcdkIh1NnM]Snow Patrol - The Weight Of Love (live at Shepherd's Bush Empire) - YouTube[/ame] Also, I suddenly like the title track 10 times better after watching the live video: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfWKLKZICxk]Snow Patrol - Fallen Empires (live at Shepherd's Bush Empire) - YouTube[/ame] Now waiting on videos of "Garden Rules" and "New York".

Paradise Listening Party - 7:50 A.M UK Time (Real time CHATROOM embedded in first post!)
11:50pm would be extremely manageable for me if it weren't for the fact that I expect to be out late that night (seeing The National, woohoo! :D). I'll listen when I get home. Someone will have uploaded a recording of it by then, plus the forum servers will be less bogged down so I can promptly bitch about it. :laugh3:

^ You should go as "SIT THE FUCK DOWN" Dom this year. Or Spider-Dom. Either works.

so there was a country music radio station
I told myself that I'd try to become more open to country music. I'm no longer open to country music after reading this.

Exactly tall enough. :P Uh...Feist? She doesn't wear anything recognizable, though. You should go as a blind Coldplay fangirl from Coldplaying. As in blindfold yourself, wear rainbow Viva bands, write "I LOVE CHRIS MARTIN" on your clothes (make sure your shirt is yellow), put on MX-style graffiti facepaint, and write crappy lyrics all over your skin.

My friend met up with Chris at his game the other day and got her harmonica signed. :awesome: I now know 3 different people with signed Wolstenharmonicas and many more with non-signed Wolstenharmonicas. :laugh3: Depending on whether I go to a Halloween party or not, I may end up going as Matt Bellamy (which I can easily pull off). I have friends who are undecided over whether they want to be Dom, Thom Yorke, Win and Regine from AF, etc.

Friend has informed me that SP is opening for themselves with an acoustic set, so a standard set will follow presumably. And apparently they covered "Last Friday Night" just for laughs. EDIT: And just like that, SP posted it on their Facebook. HAHA I BEAT YOU TO IT.

Grammys for Coldplay?
So which music awards do you consider relevant, if any? I disagree with a lot of Grammy picks, but they're the most prestigious award in the industry. Unlike meaningless nods like Teen Choice, etc.

Disappointment
Coldplay could poop in my eyes, force me to eat shards of glass, steal my possessions, decapitate my loved ones, cause global disease and starvation, and blow up the universe and I'd still love them. Unfortunately, a lot of the material I've heard so far from Mylto Xyloto is worse than all of the things I listed above.

Broken Social Scene
Saw BSS last night at FYF Fest. Kevin made repeated remarks throughout the show about how this would be their last show in California "for a very very long time". It was unclear whether he was merely referring to the fact that their tour is ending, or if they're hinting at an extended hiatus so they can work on all their various side projects. Hmm... Also, talk about a bonkers random setlist for a festival: Cause = Time Late Nineties Bedroom Rock for the Missionaries Shampoo Suicide Texico Bitches 7/4 Shoreline Water in Hell Meet Me in the Basement The World at Large It's All Gonna Break I actually laughed when all the impatient DFA 1979 fans thought BSS's set was over and then they launched into 10 minutes of "It's All Gonna Break".

Rococo was one of my favorites when The Suburbs first released, though I admit it's kind of a momentum killer live.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Did I ever tell you guys about heckling Tom Kirk and yelling insults at him at the LA football game (because he was clearly the worst player out there)? The Charles one was the one that got his attention. :laugh3: Apparently Dom is also back in LA so he can record more with Vicky Cryer (who I'm not a fan of). Hopefully he'll get done with that ASAP so Muse LP6 recording can begin. In the meantime, I shall resist stalking him. Or at least try to resist.

Feist
I've only watched a couple of those videos so far but they sound like what we've come to expect from Feist. Not that it's a bad thing. :) She sold out her local date here in November pretty quickly. The sad thing is I could have totally made it to that show last night. That's no more than 45 minutes from my house. Unfortunately, I didn't see the tweet until I got back from work, and of course I work in LA and was really burnt out from work and didn't feel like turning around and driving back down. Just too tired. So I saw BSS tonight and was hoping she'd be a guest performer, but she wasn't. Oh well. :/

White Lies
Yes yes yes yes yes I friggin love "Holy Ghost" but most of the rest of the album just doesn't match up. I saw them last month and was really happy to see them perform mostly material from their first album. I can post pics if you guys want.

Disappointment
Autotune and sampling is already a huge turn-off as it is, but I can think of a few things Coldplay could do to further disappoint me on tracks' studio versions - "Us Against the World" with chipmunk voices, "Charlie Brown" having rubber ducky effects, Chris Martin inhaling helium before singing "Princess of China", singing "Paradise" into a repeating parrot and just recording the parrot and putting it on the album, etc. (I should shut up in case the band actually reads this and gets ideas.)

"My Brothers" is really lovely. "I'm Ready" is nice and all but has more of a B-side quality. Won't be upset if it only remains on the EP. I'm actually now envisioning "Fallen Empires" opening Snow Patrol gigs, with the entire song being played in pitch black, and it could be really awesome.
