  1. I'm actually not a fan of Wonderwall either, but... I'm just gonna leave this quote here and preserve it for all eternity. (Psst...read carefully ;))
  2. First of all, <3 for making the thread. Second, I don't know how these other so-called "musicians" can compete. I've never heard "Bohemian Rhapsody" before, but I listened to the first minute on YouTube and the piano is terrible. It doesn't grab me like "Clocks" does and get instantly stuck in my head and therefore sucks. "Stairway to Heaven" is too long. I can't listen to any song longer than 4:01. Psst...4:01 is the exact length of "Viva la Vida", idiot. Sheesh. "Imagine" had potential to be an amazing song, but instead it sucks because "Imagine" is way too simple of a title. If it were more creative, like "Imagine That Flowers Were Trees", I might like it more. "Wonderwall" is by that stupid idiot evil band Oasis, right? That stupid evil idiot band insulted Coldplay and called them girly gay unfashionable sissies. Well I think they're girlier and gayer and sissier. "Subterranean Homesick Blues" is a failure because Bob Dylan's haircut is stupid. He should take some hairstyle tips from Chris Martin. Don't get me started on "Paranoid Android". Radiohead is the spawn of Satan and Thom Yorke wants to rape each and every one of you. Their songs are all boring and weird and I have no idea why people compare Coldplay to them. "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall" is stunning. Bold. Innovative. Evolutionary. THE FUTURE. In fact, the more I listen to it, the more I realize how shitty "Sparks" and "Amsterdam" and all their older fluff really was.
  3. I don't consider myself a regular gamer anymore, as even though video games used to be my favorite thing to do, I have had incredibly little time to play anything since starting college and work a few years ago. A few weeks ago, I actually sold my Xbox 360, DS Lite, and all games for each because I hadn't turned on either in over a year. But I still like watching the E3 press conferences. It's difficult to truly excite me with a game nowadays, but I still pick up a couple titles per year. Project Cafe definitely has me intrigued, although at the moment I mainly want to see more material for 3DS. I'm waiting for some big names to drop on 3DS before I finally buy one, as portable gaming is still easy for me to handle even though I don't dedicate much time to consoles anymore. Sony's next handheld should be interesting, but if I'm putting any money down for a new gaming device this year, it'll be the 3DS.
  4. Exactly. Thank you for further emphasizing how stupid it makes people sound. :P
  5. Yeah, Coldplay section gets defensive even when it's not about the music. The only thing I hate more than Coldplay's (mainly Chris's) political stunts are fans talking about how courageous and socially-aware they are to support certain causes, organizations, and individuals. That's stupid and it's a big reason that section of the forum has turned me off. But that's getting away from the music. There's still at least half the album we haven't heard, so even though some of these other songs show some promise, I've seen some people already declare it Album of the Decade in spite of only hearing a handful of songs which aren't even studio versions.
  6. Is their Twitter pic a new photo? I haven't checked their Twitter in a while so I don't know if it is or not or if it means anything. http://a3.twimg.com/profile_images/1365843823/Unknown.png
  7. Matt was in Malibu yesterday? That's seriously 20 minutes down the coast from me. Could have stalked. But no. I had to watch that Coldplay webcast instead.
  8. Agreed about Uprising. I am beyond bored of the studio version, but that live outro riff is killer. I like the slower portion of Unnatural Selection, though, and I prefer the standard version of IBTY to the Twilight mix. LA Rising, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands :) Yes, I'm psychotic. Though I know way more psychotic Musers than me.
  9. Someone less lazy than me should make a new thread that's "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall vs. Bohemian Rhapsody". I truly want to know how many people would still vote Coldplay anything no matter what. EDIT: You can replace Bohemian Rhapsody with Love Will Tear Us Apart or anything else you feel appropriate.
  10. Hi there! :) I'm Michael. Are you making it to any of the festivals this year? Just curious as to which songs on The Resistance you think are too long. Some of Muse's best songs are long, like Citizen Erased and Space Dementia. And yeah, I recall reading the massive overreaction to Matt's Wembley comment on .mu. But that place is beef central.
  11. Internet petitions. Hahahahaha. I hate the song, but it's out there and we can't magically make it disappear.
  12. It's a better title and less of a mouthful than "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends". So I would approve of "Major Minus", especially if they're going the continued path of naming the album after one its songs. Because let's be honest - the other song names so far are awful.
  13. We'll get a better idea as European festival season rolls on and they iron out the setlist, finding a good flow that both works and gets the audience pumped. I think 5 new songs is the very maximum they should go for, just because you can lose a crowd with any further unfamiliarity. I'd be satisfied with 5. And hey, if they keep closing with ETIAW, that would be one benefit to not camping on barrier all day - the ability to leave before the end of the set more easily. :P Kidding, of course. I may hate loathe detest abhor despise the song, but I'll learn it enough so I can sing along live.
  14. Corkus replied to Humma's topic in Major Minus
Surprised how quickly this one's grown on me. Suck it, ETIAW and everyone who said it would be a "grower". :P But seriously, I passed this one off as generic upon first listen, but I'm liking it more with every listen.
  15. I think that was some sort of brief screw-up, because toward the end of the song, it DID list the title "Hurts Like Heaven". I'm not sold on this one. Of the 5 new songs played yesterday, this was one of the two I just can't get into for the life of me (though I don't detest it like I detest ETIAW). It strikes me as a generic pop song, which would be fine if it had a fun chorus and a catchy melody, but it doesn't. As for future live performances, fireworks are fun and all, but I prefer "Charlie Brown" as an opener like at Rock im Park.
  16. Some people said ETIAW would be a grower for fans of Coldplay's older material. I would laugh at them, but instead I'm going to give them "Major Minus" as an example, because that's how a grower should be. First listen during the webcast yesterday, I passed it off as an average song, even calling it "an inferior CoL". But every listen has improved for me. ETIAW isn't like that. In fact, that one has just gotten worse. So I'm liking MM more and more now. That said, I still just can't understand what you guys see in "Hurts Like Heaven". It's a generic pop song. Yeah, "Charlie Brown" is pop too, but you know what? It's catchy as hell. HLH doesn't do a thing for me.
  17. "Us Against the World". Not even close. That said, I really like "Charlie Brown", and "Major Minus" is growing on me really quickly even though I called it an inferior CoL upon first listen. Still not convinced on those other two.
  18. I think I should leave Earth until people agree with me on political issues. Maybe I'll become Emperor of Saturn?

The Strokes are about to start soon. Check my link above for live stream. :)
  21. I like how some fanatics see some of us horrible, sinful WoM users say something positive about the new songs, and all of a sudden they're like "HA! TOLD YA SO! COLDPLAY CAN DO NO WRONG! I'M SURE YOU'LL LOVE EVERY TEARDROP EVENTUALLY!" All I can say when I see that is "Whoa whoa whoa, slow down a bit." True, nothing is as bad as ETIAW. That's not exactly setting your standards very high. Truth be told, I think "Hurts Like Heaven" sounds generic as hell. The other 3 aren't bad at all, but "Us Against the World" is the only one of those I think is truly stellar. So yes, we're less negative about these. But that still doesn't mean we're suddenly going to start kissing Coldplay's ass. I also like how Brian Eno was being trashed as a murderer yesterday, and today he's suddenly being treated like a godly genius because we get a few more songs that are either pretty respectable or, at worst, less sucky than ETIAW. Bottom line is that Eno doesn't have total control over what the boys do or anything. The band obviously has a ton of input on their material, so the "Eno effect" is pretty exaggerated.
  22. Can Coldplay please just fill the album with 10-12 songs like this? This song is so much better than everything else we've heard so far from this era (okay, I like "Charlie Brown" too) that it's ridiculous.
  23. Oh, don't get us wrong, we still think their clothes suck. ;) ETIAW still sucks and the other songs were a mix of good and mediocre. And we still have probably half the album we still haven't heard. I want to hear a better quality version of "Princess of China" before I judge that one (since it didn't get played tonight), but as for the 5 new songs tonight, I'm split into 2 good, 2 average, and 1 bad.
  24. I don't get the love for "Hurts Like Heaven". I just don't. "Us Against the World", on the other hand, is the type of music that Coldplay is good at and should be writing. I hope it's not the only acoustic track on the album. And I hope Will sings on the album too. Beautiful. "Charlie Brown" is catchy as hell and gives me LiTii vibes. As I've said in other threads, the song is blatant pop but it's pop done RIGHT. I'll have to listen to "Major Minus" again, but it struck me as an inferior version of CoL at first. ETIAW...well, I turned off the webcast right when the first note played. :P Beats the hell out of that techno remix during the Viva tour, that's for sure.
  25. Sorry guys, I was tweeting the whole time and not looking at this thread. Coldplaying was being problematic for me. Regardless, turned it off just as ETIAW started. Fun use of my time, though. Will post opinions later, especially on the other new songs. :)
