LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I'm 90% sure that color palette on their website right now is going to be a part of the cover.

I wouldn't consider Square One pop, but you're right. It's a great combination of rock and a space-y vibe. Coldplay could replace the space-y vibe for something close to synthesizers and still be great.

My new song "Safety" off of my debut LP
Has anyone told you how similar you sound to Robin Pecknold? Especially when you hit the higher notes! I generally don't like most of the songs people post here, but seriously, this is great stuff. I would totally listen to your entire album just based off this song.

What do you think LP7 will be about?
I was listening to one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs today, and though it's definitely wishful thinking, I would love for Coldplay to explore a storytelling form of song writing for AHFOD. The closest we've gotten to that is probably Viva La Vida (song, not the album). If done right, it can be very compelling and makes the combination of lyrics and music blend marvelously as one.

The Fray is a prime example of the ultimate cardinal sin: keeping the exact same sound for every album.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I should have worded that better. I love Radiohead and Coldplay. Radiohead is more talented, but I think Coldplay manages to reach more people solely because they just have something Radiohead, or most alternative bands, don't. What it is, I'm not sure. But it's amazing (and funny) to see bands release new songs, only for the comments to be, "So, why does ____ now sound like Coldplay?" or, "This new song by ____ pulled a Coldplay." The only artists to become verbs are the ones who, at one point in time, managed to separate themselves from everyone else and do their own thing. And yeah, it really is a nice tool for predicting AHFOD! I genuinely don't know what to expect at this point, but I'm not worried. This site freaks out about every little detail, but Coldplay does it best when they go big and go loud. Exactly! I love when bands try to reinvent their sound, but honestly, Mumford and Sons seemingly found a safe haven in 2000's-style Coldplay, and tried to make it their own. Hell, I was even looking at some relatively new Yellowcard song, and the comments were like, "Ew, why did they go Coldplay?" FOR FUCKING YELLOWCARD.

I disagree. Yeah, their lead singles are usually a representative of what's popular in modern music, but the rest of said album(s) couldn't be farther from it. 2005 was a strange time for music, because there was just so much going on. A lot of (very dated) mid-2000's hip-hop, some rock, but a lot pop-punk/rock. X&Y was very, very far away from what was popular during that time frame, as was A Rush of Blood to the Head and especially Viva La Vida. I still say there is not one single album I have ever heard that sounds like Viva. There just isn't. Coldplay very much made that album their own, and I cannot think of one specific genre they pulled from for anything on that album. Mylo Xyloto and Ghost Stories made it a bit more obvious, but even then, it was only prevalent on their lead singles. I used to say ETIAW was a lot like the early 2010's, but in hindsight, it's not. Not at all. Yeah, it uses synths, but people have been using synths for ages. Paradise and A Sky Full of Stars are the only songs they have made/released as singles that sound exactly as the year they released them in. You can't tell me songs like Charlie Brown, Always In My Head, Up With The Birds, O, Ghost Story or even Princess of China are following a specific trend. (Not you specifically, but anyone.) I see your point, but I've always maintained the belief Coldplay is one step ahead of everyone else. And they have been since 2000. The amount of bands that adapt to the "Coldplay sound" is astounding. And ironically, it almost never works for them because Coldplay has truly set a standard for alternative rock bands.

You know, I am too. I love the guy, but it's nice to see them not going back to the same people for each and every album. Not sure why, but this excites me more for AHFOD. I'm getting the impression that this will be their first album since Viva where we will only hear a single or two before the album itself is released. I hope I'm right.

I can't wait for Car Kids to be released, only for it to be a 30-second prelude into another song. Like salt on a wound.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Yep. The interview itself is great, and I liked how they were slightly played, but I was really disappointed with it being such a short album. I hope all we get this time is whatever single(s) they choose, and maybe one or two other songs.

Happy 10th Birthday X&Y!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
It was like a ten or fifteen second video of Guy and Chris playing the Xylophone. I can't remember which part of Paradise that's in, but someone made the connection pretty early on into the MX days. Fun times!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Paradise had a really slow start until the very beginning of 2012. Literally, within the first week, it charted to #1 and stayed there for what felt like forever. I don't think it lasted as long as Viva did, but only by a little. I'd vouch to say Paradise and Viva La Vida are on the same scale of popularity. With Apple announcing Apple Music today, as well as the new Connect feature for artists to share content directly with fans, I would almost bet money Coldplay will be using this to tease LP7. They did it with iTunes Ping (lol) around 2010 (which we later discovered to be a part of Paradise!), so you know they'll do it again.

I was listening to Jon Hopkins tonight, and Elegiac came on. I'd love to hear Coldplay make music like this someday. It's right down their alley and sounds damn good. [video=youtube;VP5_HwlWJX4]
