Remember: Letterman tonight! I'm refusing the leak and seeing them on Saturday night. Life is good.

Interpol
I have my own form of twisted ethics. I won't listen to a leak....but I'll legally download singles released before the album drops. Heads up -- they are scheduled for Letterman next Thursday night (7/29)!!

OMG, when the chorus starts "Something was bound to go right sometime today>>>" I swear I feel like I've gotten an electrical shock.

I was never a fan of OLTBA, other than a song or two, but I've a great feeling for this one. "Lights" was a burner live...as was "Summer Well." I know a lot of people are not crazy with Paul's vocals but I think this is how it's going to be. He has said that he didn't really sing in the first 2 albums -- he felt like he just screamed. Guess a lot of us liked his "screaming" (never sounded like screaming to me). His lyrics also seem a little more straight forward than they were in the first 2. Most of the stuff I loved about the first two albums seems to be back: the layered sounds & the in-your-face rhythm section.

Tired Pony
I spent the money and pre-ordered it from amazon.uk (I'm in the states). I got notice that it shipped 7/10 but isn't due to arrive until AUGUST 2!!! Huh??? Is it coming by row boat? Really pissed.

Barricade was offered on iTunes last night for a short time, seemingly in error. Luckily, I nabbed it before it was removed. It's really, really wonderful.

There you go! You'll be hooked before you know it! :laugh3:

There have been tweets that suggest some people have heard it, so it's out there. I don't do leaks so I don't know if there are any torrents floating around. It's confusing because it's been reported that "Barricade" will be the lead single, but "Lights" is the lead video. Supposedly they've soundchecked a 4th new song but haven't played it yet. You're going to love the show. Guaranteed!

Sorry, this wasn't my request, but it's on the front page under my name: "Chris and Jonny zombies in Shaun of the Dead- Pink" I'd hate to take something that someone else wants. (and, btw, Whispering Shadows, I don't know how you are keeping all this straight. Great job!)

Give it time...I think it takes time to to appreciate their layers. They were amazing! I couldn't believe they were only 4 shows into the tour -- they were so tight! David Pajo fits right in. Honestly, I was like, "Carlos Who?" Paul's voice is really strong -- not that warbley-sheep voice he had during "Our Love To Admire." I'm not quite sold on "Success" yet, but "Summer Well" & "Lights" are great live. Especially "Lights." It builds perfectly. I'm going to try and catch them again before they head over to Europe.

6 Music 'saved'!!
Why thank you for explaining! I feel much smarter. :P Actually, since it sounds like the other stations are pretty locked into their markets, I'm surprised that there'd be problems keeping Radio 6 afloat. Maybe it's just my focus, but there seems to be lots of need for 'under the radar,' interesting music. I'm pretty old so I remember the days of progressive FM radio stations in the U.S. that would play full albums (yes, actual albums) without interruption. But those days have been gone for a long, long time. Even though I'd be considered ancient by most of you, I have no desire to listen to the same old, tired stuff I listened to when I was 20.

6 Music 'saved'!!
Would someone be kind enough to explain the difference between the stations to this clueless yank? Do they each have their own focus? I seem to be more aware of Radio 1, and I can't even explain why. It's just that that's the one I seem to come across when reading articles about the BBC, etc. They are all non-commercial, publicly funded, right? Pardon my ignorance. :embarrassed:

Whispering Shadows -- this must be keeping you very busy! Thanks for the fun thread. :) One of my all-time favorite performances: Chris & Jonny's gorgeous acoustic performance of "The Scientist" on Philly's Y100. Seeing them on Friday! Check around...there's some decent quality streams of some new tracks performed at shows this week ("Summer Well" & "Success"). Supposedly the tracklisting is also floating around, but I haven't been able to find it yet. Today, Matador bumped up the album release date to 9/7 (in the U.S.)! And best of all...at last night's show then traded out C'mere for STELLA!

The Eno Effect
I think it's a question of how much influence he has. I think it can be a positive if a producer throws ideas at a band in an attempt to get them to experiment and see what they've got hidden. It's quite another thing to DIRECT them. With this said, I loved Viva. One thing I like about Eno's involvement is I think he got the guys excited about the possibilities again. It's well known that they had lost some spark through X&Y and I think Eno got them back on the creative track. They seemed like a band having fun again through the Viva years. He's a consummate artist, but I trust Coldplay will stay true to themselves and not allow any outside influence to have too much say. As an aside, my girlfriend is a long, long time U2 fan and she hates Eno. She calls him "the man with a straw," saying that after U2 comes up with an album, Eno comes in with his big straw and sucks the life out of it. :laugh3:

the greatest day that any Coldplay fan could ever have, ever...
ROTFL, love it! And might I add, good advice.

LP5 by christmas???
Davide Rossi's tweet: "Couple of days to stay in touch and work with Coldplay, now off to the uS with Goldfrapp. http://fb.me/BDX9BHM9" about 4 hours ago via Facebook #5 marches on!

Wonder why he feels that way. I think it's a beautifully sung, acoustic version. Sorry Gary, but you are wrong.

Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow family photos returned by station manager
I'm just glad that they are getting to spend normal family time together, with pictures they want taken by each other & not the papps.

Coldplay were set for Glastonbury 2011... now Coldplay set for Glastonbury... 2010?
Hey, if it happens, maybe the fans who now own the Viva stuff could rent it back to them for a price...uummm...let's say, what you paid for it. :laugh3: I really don't want this to happen. Tickets are already gone. I'd love to see them headline next year. I think they need a break and the world needs a break (not us UBERFANS, mind you, but the rest of the music world). I don't want them to tip-toe back onto the scene before they are ready. I want a big splash! Just my $.02 <shrug>

Post pictures of the gorgeous Chris
OH YES!! At least I think so. :\ I could have sworn it was during IMP but this looks like it...unless there's another adorable heart vid out there somewhere. Thanks so much for finding this one.
