  1. Well, I've a different strategy. I plan to avoid it. I want one more unheard song when I first pop that CD in the car player. There's nothing like racing through the Best Buy parking lot, ripping through the plastic with my keys & listening to a long-awaited CD in the parking lot. Can she hold out you ask? My friends are making bets. :laugh3:
  2. My son collects Japanese releases and we were in Tokyo a few years ago and went to the big HMV store. I was in my glory. I think it was something like 5 or 6 stories, filled with music. All those releases with all kinds of bonus material. I had planned to buy a bunch of stuff but couldn't justify spending $40-$50 per CD. Like someone mentioned, these bonus tracks will become available eventually.
  3. I really like what they did with VLV -- I'd prefer a short album and then a future E.P.
  4. I guess they are somewhat fair, although, I am disappointed by CB's rating. I just love that song. It is such a burner and it seems to get the crowd going. That's probably the exact reasons they rated it lower than the others.
  5. I really don't care what Pitchfork thinks. I find their reviews so predictable. I swear they are more interested in demonstrating how ultra-cool they are than providing reasonable critiques. I don't need someone else to tell me whether I should like something or not, whether something is "good" or "crap". I can make up my own mind. I listen, I decide.
  6. I, too, am disappointed that when the album drops, I'll know a majority of the songs. However, as someone said, I think this was probably a good business strategy to reach casual fans. If I'm honest, I'm mad at myself for listening to the new stuff relentlessly and that's why I have sworn off "Paradise" or anything else that is released or leaks. I am not going to listen to anything else until I've got the CD in my hands. In fact, I've stopped listening to any of the new stuff.
  7. Nice triceps! You've been doing more than yoga, son.
  8. Personally, I'm done with the confetti. It was wonderful during Lovers but, in my mind, it belongs to the Viva era and has lost it's magic.
  9. This is exactly what I think. I think that we will get a bit of a hint as to which new songs may be on #5 by what they choose to play this weekend. I think that whatever new stuff is dropped is probably in serious consideration for the album.
  10. Obviously, I have no idea and I'm happy to enjoy what I've been hearing and patiently wait for the official release. Although I don't think it will happen now that there are official singles with 'b' sides, I would have liked it if all of these festival songs would have been bundled into a "Summer Festival EP," which would have nothing to do with #5. If most of what we've heard winds up on the actual album, I've learned a valuable lesson. I have been playing the crap out of the new stuff so that once the album drops, I'll have very little to look forward to. So once the tracklist is revealed, I will NOT seek out leaks or listen to anything new until I've got the CD in my hands. To me there's nothing like racing through the parking lot, ripping off the plastic and driving around listening to a favorite band's new work!
  11. Can someone from the U.K. give me some info about Spotify. It has just come to the U.S. and I have an invite. It sounds too good to be true. I now use Rhapsody to stream & buy music. Is Spotify the same type of service? If so, even if I decide to upgrade from the free service, it's only a fraction of the monthly cost of Rhapsody. I guess I'm confused as to exactly what I'll get with the free or limited service. Can anyone share info? Thanks!
  12. Nice to hear him so relaxed and positive. Obviously they are winding things up!
  13. I've a love/hate relationship with the use of backing tracks. I like the full sound but when I see live music, I want to see the musicians playing. Also, bands who rely on a lot of backing have very little room to change around the setlist on the fly. I really appreciate musicians who can offer up a surprise or two, showcasing their talent and love of music. Another thing that really irks me is when a vocalist runs around so much, their vocals suffer. I think Chris is guilty of this. During the Viva tour, there were times he was so breathless, he struggled to sing. I think this is stupid. Give us good music and we'll be excited, we don't need to see him jumping around to do that.
  14. Oh dear god, me neither. I'm so glad I checked. I've been listening to this for an hour and it's dreadful. Unfortunately, I won't be around tomorrow.
  15. April fools a little late? Is this someone's idea of a joke?
  16. So hard to choose: LP: A Rush of Blood B Side: Gravity Unreleased: Solid Ground Honorable Mentions: Amsterdam, A Ghost, Proof & See You Soon, Postcards From Far Away
  17. Maybe he was being honest when he said that he hopes it will be done in 2 weeks and the title will be revealed in 6 weeks. He sounded somewhat sincere.
  18. Now why can't he just answer: "Can you say hi to Gwyneth for us?" "Sure thing."
  19. Well done, lots of fun (rhyming unintentional). :)
  20. Pink replied to Megalomania's topic in Coldplay
I'd like to claim Achorman's wishing my son a happy birthday during the Jammin' photoblog.
  21. Watch on TV and I thought it was a stellar performance. I know some think that Chris seemed stiff & nervous but I thought he was just toning down the goofiness. I don't need him rattling on about some craziness (as entertaining as that can sometimes be, I think it feeds the haters). He kept the jumping and trashing around at a respectable pace so that his voice didn't suffer. He only asked how everyone was doing 10 times instead of his usual 50. :P All in all, I think this venue is really important to them and they treated it as such. To me, they looked like a band that knew the world was watching and they had something to prove.
  22. I have no idea what will or will not be on #5. However, I hope that none of the E.P. tracks appear. I think it's pretty inconsiderate to expect fans to keep buying the same songs. With that said, I don't know who ultimately controls the releases -- the band or EMI.
  23. I'm placing bets on Oct. 10 in the UK and Oct. 11 in the US. Not sure about the rest of the world ... or Mars.
  24. The backing vocals are lovely. Piano welcomed. I'm all about stating the obvious. :laugh3:
