Am I the only person totally in love with DLIBYH?
It could use another build and a solo before fading into UWTB. But still it is a terrific track altogether. :)

AHT - just like MX!
This. And it even works better as an intro for DLIBYH than MX does for HLH. Imo a key track for the superb flow at the end of the album.

Do you like Princess of China?
I don't think "stole my star, -ar -ar -ar -ar -ar -ar -ar" would've worked better. :P

First Impressions of Mylo Xyloto (and vote in the 1-10 sliding scale poll!)
I've gone once through it with a friend and listened to a couple of tracks after that. Right now I'm listening to it a second time. Apparently, the whole album is again a grower, just like many of the tracks we listened beforehand were. While I think that the album as a whole is definitely a success, I feel like several tracks on the album could use a rework considering production, especially Hurts Like Heaven, Major Minus and Princess Of China. Also, many songs really sound overloaded with electronic effects (which becomes obvious when you listen to acoustic songs like U.F.O. MX / Hurts Like Heaven: Definitely a lot weaker in studio than live. Still a great song though. I love the additional vocals in the background. Paradise: Although I hated it initially, it has grown to me a lot. The lyrics are rather crappy, but they don't disturb anymore while listening to the whole album, and still it's a decent tune. Charlie Brown: Boom! Really blew me away at first listen. Some parts sound better live ("light a fire up by the spark..."), but overall it is a fantastic song. Obvious single too. Us Against The World: The overloaded intro doesn't belong there, but otherwise, it's really good, especially the instrumentation. Will could be a bit more prominent on that one. M.M.I.X.: Half of the time would've done it too. I also hate the transition between this and ETIAW on mp3-players (the silence between kills the flow). Works perfectly as an intro though. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall: Not much to say about it cuz we've heard it for months. I have to admit that I liked it much more than Paradise. Somehow, it's at an odd position in the album followed by Major Minus. Major Minus: Flows neither with ETIAW nor with U.F.O. and it is lacking the drive from live versions (even some live performances miss the rhythm of e.g. Rock am Ring (best one in my opinion). Great song, but poorly recorded and produced, which is really a shame. U.F.O.: Perfect. Great lyrics (as far as I could discover) and lovely intimate acoustic arrangement. I also discovered that it features elements from the Wedding Bells guitar version, which is simply awesome. The Takk sample is perfect too, although I don't know what to think of it. Princess Of China: Rihanna doesn't sound like Rihanna most of the time. The arrangement and production is not really successful imo, because it doesn't capture the drive and climative build from the live version (yes, I mean the crappy Rock im Park audio!). Still I could imagine this charting high. It's a great song actually but could use more Jonny towards the end. Up In Flames: Strip away the strange beat (reminds me a lot of early Animals live) and it would be a lot less annoying. A bit repetitive too. I guess it has to grow on me first. The guitar towards the end is great though. A Hopeful Transmission: Nice reprise of MX. Also helps to build up tension. Don't Let It Break Your Heart: Sounds like a descendant of Things I Don't Understand or other X&Y-tracks, but better. There's a lot happening on that track and I could not manage to capture everything, it's just too overwhelming. But what I can say from now is that it must be a terrific tune live. Up With The Birds: Divided into two parts, with the first being atmospheric (equals to dragging a lot for me) and the other country-esque, crunchy and crispy (my favourite). Lovely end to the album. Somehow the second part also has a nice rhythm to it, it instantly brings me to dance  All in all, it seems really short, although it is not much shorter than Viva La Vida (only about a minute). Apparently that's what Coldplay wanted to achieve: a short and concise experience. I'd love to tack in some b-sides to expand it a bit, I somehow miss a bit of content. I like a lot the flow that the album has from Up In Flames onwards - after listening to Up In Flames separately, I just had to go on with the rest. I think I've only had that with Kid A before, and that's the best album I've ever heard I think. The transitions between the tracks in the first half are not as smooth though. ETIAW and MM do not flow at all. Mylo Xyloto has a lot of tiny flaws that make it unperfect for me. Somehow, I can't help the feeling that a lot of these tracks and the album as a whole would sound even better if several tracks were more stripped-down and acoustic and less loaded with layers of unnecessary electronic blubbers (Hurts Like Heaven, Paradise, Charlie Brown, Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall and Major Minus come to mind). Sometimes, they are great to help the song (e.g. the instrumentals), most of them just make it too artificial. I think this album has deserved at least 7 out of 10 stars for me, but it is too early for me to decide on it at that point. I guess I'd rank it close to VLV and above X&Y. Impossible to compare it to Parachutes and AROBTTH though, this album is completely different. My favourites at the moment: Charlie Brown, U.F.O., Don't Let It Break Your Heart, second half of Up With The Birds.

The Yellow/Clocks/Fix You/Viva La Vida of this album?
Hm. Viva La Vida: Princess of China (that's at least in which direction it seems to go...) Fix You: maybe Up With The Birds? Clocks: Charlie Brown Yellow: Don't Let It Break Your Heart or Hurts Like Heaven If you go after the characters of the tracks.

Hallelujah?
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg6HKkedhyI]Leonard Cohen: Anthem - O2 Arena - YouTube[/ame] As amazing as the lyrics are, the song itself is pretty dull. Won't be that much of a difficulty for Coldplay to top that. :)

What's the best Coldplay song? #2
The World Turned Upside Down.
-
Am I the only one here...
Major Minus is one of the few actual rock songs by Coldplay. Hence it cannot be the worst. Go for The World Turned Upside Down instead :sneaky:

The Title Makes Me Think Of...
You missed the small but tender U.F.O. ;) Btw, who knows. When we heard it, we might realise that actually A Hopeful Transmission is the best track on MX. :shocked2:

CarKids Relation
Maybe Car Kids is the youth organization of the famous old painters. :wink3:

U.F.O
Something keeps telling me that this song is gonna be awesome. Btw: "Luminous" comes from Charlie Brown.

Coldplay show some new art and a post a video
Btw, the artwork on the VEVO page is from the top left part of the big artwork, somewhere at the "7:" and the pink "MX".

Is a MX EP Possible?
Seems like the MX-tracklist threads got replaced by MX EP-tracklist threads.
-
The back of Chris' shirt at ACL: "CAR KIDS"
^ I guess we got another era with b-sides being better than several album songs  Actually, was there any era where this was not the case?

Mylo Xyloto: 44.09 mins long? Songs time here.
37 minutes + 429 seconds = 37 minutes + 7 minutes + 9 seconds = 44 minutes + 9 seconds. 44:09. Remember 1 min = 60 sec aight? ;)

Is the money and fame getting to Chris Martin's songwriting abilities??
I guess cross-editing is not a good idea.

Is the money and fame getting to Chris Martin's songwriting abilities??
Well, most songs from Parachutes+AROBTTH (even X&Y) were about emotions, so their lyrics were made to convey those emotions (as in Politik for example). If you're telling a story though, the lyrics will have to be different. That's why Charlie Brown's lyrics sound totally different from those of The Scientist, for example: while Charlie Brown is some form of narration ("I stole the key/ And took the car downtown where the lost boys meet"), The Scientist is more like a emotionally charged conversation ("Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry/ You don't know how lovely you are"). The lyrics adjust to the topic. And if the topic is "Everything's shit but I am happy nevertheless shalalala" (ETiaW) then you cannot expect anything sophisticated (in fact I've always felt that ETiaW lyrically sounds totally out of context as a single). I agree, if you're telling a story like "a girl gets disappointed by the world and escapes into her dreams", then "Para-para-paradise" is really uninspired. :laugh3: But then again, are we actually supposed to access her dreams if they deliberately picture them as hypnotic, repetitive nonsense? :D In fact, the song starts making sense to me. I think we should consider the lyrics as a device to tell the story. It's understandable to me that people expected something different (I did myself). The song seems incredibly flat if you don't interpret it in any way (apart from the "unusual" sound ). Edit: I agree, Lost is not a masterpiece if compared to other songs. But there are also lots of good examples, like Cemeteries of London (I have to admit I love the song): "So we rode down to the river where the toiling ghosts spring / For their curses to be broken / We’d go underneath the arches where the witches are in the saying / There are ghost towns in the ocean… " I suppose it's that they always have successful and unsuccessful efforts. Apart from the fact that since Viva their lyrics have moved on from emotions to imagery in many cases. X&Y had really weak moments lyrically ("And the hardest part was letting go not taking part / Was the hardest part"), but that was probably just because it was their creative dead-end (which was why they hired Eno).

What songs do you wish were on the album but were left off
This actually reminds me of Paradise.
