love the back to the future theme song - it really builds up the hype then into lovely transcendent MX

Chris Martin on BBC 6 Music with Steve Lamacq (Tues 25th October)
Eno was more a band member than a producer on this record, he participated in the playing of parts in the record, not necessarily producing and deciding what gets cut or edited around unlike Viva.

I kind of agree with Eno on DLIBYH - felt there was too much going on, and overwhelming and plus it reminds me of Glass of Water, Things you don't understand, and a bit of Low in it. It's my weakest song on the album for me, but i am warming up to it in the context of the album, and actually really liking it, but agree with Eno on this - interesting to hear that.

i love that part in princess of china, those little moments really elevate the album for me, would love to hear what else they did and threw out.

How does the running man fit into MX?
Probably the main character/guy of the story - he's armed w/ a spraycan soul - hence the vibrant colors/aura he has - and hurts like heaven is the opening/intro of the character perhaps called Mylo - listen to the lyrics. He's not happy with his life, feels like there is something more, and he keeps seeing messages around (graffiti on a bridge in a park, a factory sign) that, to him, states there's more to life than the rat race or whatever he's in. The man is initially walking but as the song progresses, and he feels liberated, starts taking control of his life, and living, so to speak, his soul takes off flying metaphorically, he becomes part of the movement on his own, and something larger than himself. "On every street, every car, every surface are names Tonight the streets are ours and we're writing the same 'Don't let 'em take control No we won't let 'em take control' He's now armed with a spraycan soul, and life is much more fulfilling for him, at the same time, he's revolting against the powers that be with messages/art/music/etc. through medium of graffiti, trying to get others to wake up (sort of like the matrix). 'So on concrete canvas under cover of dark C'mon, concrete canvas; I'll go making my mark Armed with a spray can soul I'll be armed with a spray can soul'

Princess of China and the similarity between a song of Vietnam !?
First off - listening to that Vietnamese song - give me a break - that melody has been used before - I've heard it in traditional/spiritual/religious songs from Asian cultures - That artist didn't come up with that herself - right there she's done, and if she claims she did, she's lying to herself or to the rest of the world. She should get sued by the lawyers of those traditional songs - everyone is so litigious nowadays, I hate lawyers to a degree bc of this crap. As for Viva and Joe Satriani - well Joe will have to pay Cat stevens too bc supposedly Cat also thinks CP lifted his melody for Viva, give me a break, Joe is such a piece of crap for suing them - that melody has been used many times over - it's not a particular unique chord progression or series of notes. I've heard it in other songs (they may not be as popular) but Coldplay elevates these melodies/chord progressions into symphonic and beautiful pieces of music. Even for POC (which I love), I remember hearing that piece of melody before (even Disney movies hae used it) and loved what they did with it. As for the oh-oh's, they're using the same melody - this Vietnamese artist has no standing unless she wants to get sued by the people who originally came up with that song many years ago (perhaps hundreds/thousands). Case Closed. Viva la Coldplay!

[21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
Alright coldplayers - got a bunch of responses - Here's people who responded to me so far: dayna 10p or so joe cortazzo (630p or so) zsub (7p or earlier) I heart travel (330 am?) OpenUpYourEyes (?) Sara See (1am or so) Brandy (630p) Bdevil89 (me) 9p or so Alright I'll try to send out each other's numbers through PM so we can coordinate In a telescope lens notlost92 (zoe) thatgirlamy19(Amy) please join us if you'd like, and let us know what time you all r getting there and contact info, through pm of course. Would love to get all us diehard fans together. I have a guitar, but it might get crazy during the actual concert to hang on to, but that would be awesome if someone wants to venture, don't worry i will sing the songs (not shy about that, Sara See) - also, if one of you could bring a portable mp3/ipod player that runs on batteries or is charged or whatever that would be great (i can bring batteries). Let me know what you all think - As i said, it might be hard to save spots for everybody that comes later in the night, but we'll do our best, I think each person that links up (that is whoever is the earliest in the group, can hopefully get the next earliest person behind them, and subsequently each person can save at least 1 to 2 spots for others. I will get there around 9 or so, so to the early birds hold a spot for me if you can. Again, I will send the contact numbers through pm to all that have responded so we can better communicate. Thanks all, here's to a great night and a great concert from one of the truly great bands in the world and history. " I Might have to go where they don't know my name" (Up With The Birds)

[21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
PM me Open Your Eyes i'll make a list of people going, and get the contact info so we can coordinate. I'm arriving around 9p or so. Hope others who get there earlier can hold us some spots, and I would do the same for others - let's represent for coldplaying and fellow coldplayers around the world. I would totally love it if they played MX/HLH right off the bat, and have us all rocking out to it - love that song.

[21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
Hey guys - this is shaping up to be a lot of fun - So far I've got Zsub, brandy, joe cortazzo, and me - bdevil89 in one group would love to join up with in a telescope lens (one of my favorite songs btw, I'll see you soon, that is), Zoe (notlost92), amy(thatgirlamy19) - let one of us know through pm or whatever. It would be great to be able together in line as fellow coldplayers, and be close in concert - I was wondering if anyone has a small ipod or mp3 player speaker system they could bring, it would be great to listen to some tunes while being in line. Let us know, the more coldplayers the merrier, should be a lot of fun, and as for saving spots, if coldplayers get there around the same time, maybe they could each individually hold like 2 or 3 spots for the other coldplayers, I mean at least for the ones arriving this evening, as for the others in the a.m. I think it will be harder, and people may get annoyed. I don't know what the policy exactly either is. Let me know what people think, regardless it's going to be a great night, and concert.

[21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
btw as far as the setlist - Viva will definitely be on there. ETIAW, Paradise for sure, and I think we will see POC possibly since it is going to be a single (?already, I think it's too soon, but i guess they're going for it). As for a fifth song - possibly MX/HLH which would be amazing, would love to dance to that one right from the get go. Supposedly on the Today show, they said the concert will start at 830 or so. CB is also a definite possibility bc it's such an immediate song and will be a hit for sure, plus they will get people interested in getting the album if they like that song which is the purpose of all these promo concerts.

[21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
Hey all - I've pm'd a few folks here planning to camp out - was trying to get a coldplaying faction together in line for the camp out - let me know if you're interested in joining. Now it's going to be hard to save spots for everybody for whoever decides to join this group and is the earliest in line, but we should try coordinate something, think it would be great if we had legit coldplaying fans as close to the front as possible. I've camped out before, and people can save spots to a degree/ within reason. Let me know what you all think. It would be great to meet all of you in person bc even friends of mine who are fans, r not as diehard as we all are. PM me, or post to the board if interested. I might get there after 11p but am working on getting there earlier. All the best - to a great concert, and meeting fellow coldplayers.

Acoustic versions of songs
i'm sure we will hear acoustic versions of the singles - definitely ETIAW, CB - maybe paradise. POC may be tough w/ all the fx and what not. but HLH could work acoustically - it reminds me of an Arcade Fire-esque song.

Accordion in Charlie Brown
Don't know if i'm hearing things, but if people remember Charlie Brown was originally being played with or on accordion when Guy stepped in and said this is too much (Thanks Guy) - anyway, listening to it, and i think they left some of the accordion on there, listen closely after sped up vocals start, and the guitar riff builds up, and before the drum comes in. I think they left in the accordion as a homage to the original roots of the song, listen closely in the first 20s or so

Singles from Mylo Xyloto
first off - DLIBY will not be a single, guaranteed - it's a part of the 3 track close - and honestly don't see the commercial appeal for it compared to others on the album - yeah, it may do well among the coldplaying community ETIAW was a great lead off single, it's a great and fun song, frankly i think it's a well produced track Paradise - another great idea/single to show the new evolved Coldplay (or at least that Coldplay can do different genres so to speak) Honestly it could be either Charlie Brown (which is going to be massive, I thought the live version sounded too simple to be a standout single, but the studio version is just amazing, and will be a worldwide hit) The other single would be Princess of China - even without Rhianna it's an amazing track, and the production is another evolution of the Coldplay sound (the guitar distortion riff w/ harps, syncopated synth beats) - everytime I hear the song it gets me pumped up, and i love the variation on the song structure. Plus w/ Rhianna on board, it will sell big time, but honestly her voice works on the track and don't think Coldplay did it with intention of selling singles (they've already sold so many, it's not like they need the cash, and are a washed up band). As for the next potential singles if they are more than 4 - I think HLH is a definite possibilty, it's different enough but catchy enough to appeal, plus love the vocoder fx and all the little blips/bleeps on the track - feel like they would have to include MX to intro, so I see this less likely getting released (can't imagine a radio edit of it, truthfully, btw the Paradise radio edit defeats the whole song, and the build up). UATW is kind of like the Fix You of the album, and is another possibility - it would definitely sell, but i have a feeling that they'll keep that one for the album, although a big theme of the album is fighting negativity, and closing ranks to do such - Coldplay is Mylo Xyloto, and this song would represent that idea - plus it's a damn amazing song - love the organ/guitar intro, and the lyricism/vocal melody is sublime. As for the others - don't thinks so, UFO (definitely not, too short), Major Minus (don't think so, they already put it on the EP, and I do feel it is a bit jarring after ETIAW, but then again, if this were vinyl, we would have an intermission of sorts flipping the vinyl, love the track, but don't think it's getting released) As for the last two trax - as mentioned before they're meant to be a cohesive unit, not singles, and for the purity of the album, don't see either of them being released. They're sort of the White Shadows (not a full release)/Swallowed in the Sea/Amsterdam/AROBTTH of the album Anyway, the album has more than lived up to my expectations, i can never doubt these guys (except for when Chris sings World on UATW, what is that, that really annoys me, please tell me there's a real finalized mastered version without that)

Myloooo... Xylotooooo
I was wondering what that was - i thought they messed up or the first leak was truly a rougher promo version - have to listen again, that's for possibly clearing that up - love it if that's the case, god I love this album, it's one of their masterpieces for sure, and hopefully they will get album of the year this time (which they were robbed for Viva or Death)

Altsounds Review of Mylo Xyloto - 93%
Yep, that's what she said... this album is amazing, despite the naysayers and critics - keep it up boys (that incl. PH too). Album of the Year for sure.

Paradise *OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO!* (Youtube Video In First Post, plus 1-10 elephant poll))
thanks cackyy - actually enjoyed the video - man, matt whitcross really does a good job with coldplay material given what the band probably wanted to do - still am interested what the hype williams version looked like esp w/ the girl actually being the centerpiece of the song. Still glad to see the band enjoying themselves, though - they really have a good camraderie and chemistry - Can u imagine if Jonny or Guy were as dominant as Chris was - hopefully this band stays together for a long time. They've got the magic, that's for sure.

Studio Version
Yeah - what's up with that when he sings world? it sounds like he's burping, what a dumb thing to leave in a such a heavenly track - i really hope this is not the final version, he does it again on the 2nd low note in the 2nd verse - how did this escape the producers/mixers - also will's voice need to be more prominent - it's too low on the volume - whoever mixed this album should be shot - DLIBYH and HLH/MX are not mixed well at all, at least from the leaked version.

The 'This is their Best Album' Club
Definitely is one of their masterpieces (more to come) - A beautifully complete album - I'm in for sure. Wish they would play a full album concert with a few other tracks from the other albums like Weezer did for the Blue Album. That would be amazing.
