  1. YES! :bigcry: Jeez...I feel like such a wimp. *sniffle*
  2. I still think he says something about spinning gold. :embarrassed:
  3. What I said doesn't even adequately describe how I feel. I generally enjoy listening to complex, intricate music/arrangements more, but every once in awhile, something so simple and beautiful will come along that the way I listen to music is flipped upside down again. THAT is what music is supposed to be, I don't care who tells me otherwise. ...That's not to say the song is perfect. Heck, I'd would do away entirely with the lyrics in the "all the boys, all the girls" bridge if I could, but I don't think anything can improve the intro.
  4. As far as artwork goes: X&Y = A Rush of Blood to the Head > Viva > Parachutes X&Y's artwork is brilliant in its simplicity. Now if only the music matched...
  5. Currently, AROBTTH > Viva > Lp5 > Parachutes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> X&Y
  6. I disagree. Partially because I hate In My Place (in the running for "worst lyrics in a Coldplay song" award). More importantly though, it's because I think that Charlie Brown is a far better song than Every Teardrop, lyrically AND musically. I think that riff is as close to the sound of euphoria as I've ever heard, and a chorus would just spoil it. It's pure, unadultured joy, harnessed in the form of a vamp. It's nostalgic and hopeful simultaneously, invoking so many childhood memories at once and almost bringing me to tears (and I never cry). Every Teardrop is also euphoric in a sense, but if the lyrics spoil it. And to me, it just isn't as touching... :\

  9. :shocked2:
  10. How come when I come to the Muse thread, no one ever discusses the music...just how hot the band and various people associated with them are? :laugh3:
  11. Frankly, the only song Coldplay have played this era that DOES have a less-than-cringeworthy title is Cartoon Heart...and now that's not even called Cartoon Heart anymore. Freakin' Charlie Brown. Golden Arrow and Car Kids are okay though.
  12. Sorry bud, but having a Coldplay record doesn't exactly do wonders for your street cred.

 Laika is like my favorite Arcade Fire song.
  15. I know that's what it's trying to say, but the way is prased...to lose a river to a raindrop would imply that the raindrop itself absorbed the river, thus making it impossible to find. Obviously, you can't exactly lose a full-sized river inside a typical raindrop. No raindrop is quite that big. HOWEVER, you could lose a raindrop to a river...once that little droplet of water hits the surface of the river, you won't be finding it again...ever.
  16. Went to the midnight premiere, dressed up as a dementor. My whole family went, actually...we had Hermione, three dementors, Hagrid, Moaning Myrtle, and Rita Skeeter; it was pretty great. Anyway, I thought the movie was pretty much a perfect ending to a legendary series. I think it's probably my favorite movie so far, they obviously put a lot of effort into it. I even shed a tear during the pensieve scene, and I NEVER cry. It was tragic, emotional, visually stunning, funny, sweet, and just really well done. They did change a few parts, but looking back, I don't think I would have altered it. Except perhaps Bellatrix's death. I don't think it was awesome enough, she's my second favorite character and I think they underplayed it. :laugh3: All in all though, I can't think of a better way to wrap it all up than this. Part of my childhood died as the music reached a climax in the epilogue and the train rolled off into the distance, reminding us that the magical world Rowling created will live on in our hearts... Oh, the drama. I'm so depressed now.:cry::cry:
  17. Hurts Like Heaven Charlie Brown Princess of China Us Against the World
  18. Funeral is my favorite album of the 2000's. Radiohead's In Rainbows comes close, but not quite. Actually though, Hurts Like Heaven doesn't much sound like anything on Funeral. On AF's next two albums they started sounding more blatantly like Bruce Springsteen, and HLH sounds more like that.
  19. A Rush of Blood to the Head is my favorite Coldplay song, challenged only (and only very occasionally) by Clocks. I wouldn't mind simply "Mnemonics" as the title, but "Mnemonics and Murals" seems a tad sloppy to me. Also, I hope everybody is considering that every single album has had a track on it to match the album title. If "Mnemonics and Murals" is the actual title, then we'd have to have a song with the same name...not a pleasant thought, to be honest.
  20. Yeah, they're one of my favorites! For my money, Funeral > Coldplay :P
  21. Arcade Fire frontman/songwriter. ;) Hurts Like Heaven sounds melodically similar Keep the Car Running or one of the other upbeat tracks on Neon Bible or The Suburbs.

  23. The melody is very Win Butler-ish.
