  1. I also don't get why this is a bonus track. Great song and better lyrics than most of the other songs.
  2. God I love this one. :bigcry:
  3. I agree. It's like they forced themselves to do a happy song to please the crowd when they go on tour. It feels out of place, especially between Oceans and O. It might have worked on MX, next to ETIAW (makes skipping easier as well). I mean on an album about heartbreak, you would expect a happier song still being kind of sad. When someone you love leaves you, you may get drunk, sleep with other people and be rebellious for a while, but you still wouldn't be happy. But I'm biased because I dislike the song in general, even if it was a separate track.

Not feeling the hype yet, but I only heard it once. Don't remember much. Absolutely loved Jonny's dissonant guitar though. I don't know what it's called, starting a note off-key and then pulling it in-key? But in singing it's used frequently. Chris does it a lot, especially live.
  5. Also one of my favourites after hearing the album once. I liked the live version but love the grittiness of the studio version and the distorted effect on Chris' voice. Also, his low register is amazing. Like Always in my Head, the album version seems much more interesting while usually I prefer their live versions. I like that they're experimenting with sounds that make you go 'huh?' for a moment, like the woman's voice and bass thing on this song, the radar sound on Oceans, the guitar solo in True Love, the voice effect in Midnight.

Also prefer the live version but it's still in my top three. Love that drop/radar sound and slide guitar. Gorgeous song.
  7. Still one of my favourites and I hope they're trying more things like this in the future. Have been a fan of the vocoder sound (or whatever effect it is) from the first listen.
  8. Upon first listen this was probably my least favorite. Could be a grower. While a tattoo could make for an interesting metaphor I got more of a boyband vibe, like someone else said. I was also thrown off by the combination of upbeat music and lyrics that are full of hurt. I'll listen to it again tomorrow when I get my vinyl. :charming: Edit: I cancelled my vinyl because I want the deluxe version. :charming:
  9. Was not that impressed with the live version but the studio version gave the song such a lift, it's now one of my favourites as well. The intro is amazing.
  10. I wouldn't call it cute per se, more mysterious/church-y/creepy. But in a pretty way. The melody is stuck in my head.
  11. Nice thread, love people showing some emotion. How about crying after O, does that count? Because I heard the album for the first time yesterday and after it was finished I started bawling my eyes out. The Zane Lowe interview/snippet made me cry too, when I heard it and then when I watched it. It was way different than hearing MX, when I just felt empty and let down after it was done.
  12. Wow thanks, that's very sweet, but I did that mainly because London is more convenient. Can't really take credit for being kind. But I do truly hope two people are happy with tickets I might have bought otherwise. I get what you mean, I'd feel the same way if they played in Amsterdam. But you can't blame us. They're not coming to our countries so we can't see them at all if we wouldn't come to yours... I wish there was more you could do, like prove how badly you want to go. Now it comes down to luck and everyone who spends some money could get in. They should add a heart rate monitor and people who are the most stressed while trying to get tickets should get through.
  13. I decided not to buy tickets, only trying for London, so you have one less competitor to worry about. I'm sure it'll make a huge difference. Bonne chance everyone. I hope you are all lucky tomorrow.
  14. Everything sounds better in German.
  15. Yeah, if there's one band that could afford to do lose some money, it's them. See, these tickets are actually really cheap!
  16. I feel the same way. That sentence (thread title) was heartbreaking to hear, my god. So many people would be bitter and blame the other person. That bit of the interview, I was sold completely. I would happily buy the album for O alone.
  17. That's what I was thinking too. And hoping. It's going to be worth the money if that's what they're doing. Ah hell, it'll be worth it if they don't. It's easy enough to save up, who needs food and clothing and shelter anyway.
  18. So tickets next Monday according to the Messenger... I'm on my way to college around that time, have to go earlier I think.
  19. Oatmeal. How would you describe your clothing style?
  20. Supernatural. I can only watch during the day, when it's dark out it freaks me out.
  21. I wish Chris would play piano instead of jumping around during ASFOS.
  22. Yeah that's actually a logical explanation. They share the same theme and there's also a few musical similarities. I hadn't realised that because like you say, the songs are written from different perspectives and evoke very different emotions. And Midnight is my favourite and ASFOS my least favourite. So in my mind, they're more opposites than they are paired. It is an interesting idea and I'm curious to see if we'll get half the songs in a night sky theme and the other half in a bird theme or something.
  23. ^He kept it kinda light but in this case that's what made Chris comfortable enough to open up, I think. Otherwise he would have stormed out agan. ;)
  24. Yesterday in an argument. Sq
