  1. I'd also complain about the Oracle, who is actually completely avoiding the question this time.

I've been thinking about that ankh too, but at first I thought it was an Oxfam logo. I'm a bit disappointed that it's not :p
  3. There's just too many. I tell the radio people who don't know a lot of their songs that it's Clocks, but here I'll say it's Spies. Or maybe A Rush of Blood to the Head. Major Minus is my favourite song of the new ones and when I'll have heard the definitive studio version it will possibly enter my top 10. By the way, is this about LP5 era songs only? Why is everybody having a new one as their favourite? Already?
  4. The lyrics of Parachutes and some AROBTTH songs reflected Chris' lack of confidence, the lines were full of insecurities and stuff. He sure based many of his lyrics on heartbreaking love stories he apparently experienced at the time. Now he's probably the most confident man walking on this planet, he's the frontman of (one of) the best band(s) in the world, he's married to Gwyneth Paltrow and he's got two beautiful kids. His inspiration has to come from somewhere else, and this probably means some (many) fans, including me, think that he's not as good as back then. New song titles like "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" and (possibly) "Don't Let It Break Your Heart" are plain cheesy and an all time low for them. Though there's many problems in the world he and the rest of the band can write about, songs about war or other actual issues, like Politik and AROBTTH. I think there's a huge opportunity for them there, I wonder why they don't grab it. Their activism is inspiring, it's a pity they don't work that out in their songs.
  5. I agree. I've seen Princess of China, not the whole thing I think, and I have an idea of the song which will probably get me spoiled. But it's hard because it's a weird song anyway. I've listened to the low-quality recording of Major Minus before the livestream, and I thought it might be a really good song. A little bit spoiled there, but that doesn't mean I wasn't blown away when I saw it on the livestream. I would have been blown away harder, that's for sure.
  6. Yeah, we know what everyone thinks about the song by now. No arguing is going to change anything now. Lovers gonna love, haters gonna hate.
  7. I'm not sure about UATW. It's acoustic and simple, but it's nothing compared to anything on Parachutes. Parachutes is not an acoustic or simple album. The song is still nice though, it reminds me a lot more of the acoustic songs on Prospekt's March.

Hey, I said that first! :p Hell no, you're absolutely right.
  9. Hey, no problem. I wasn't irritated. I even thought it was fun how people started to say one of the two, or simply "both".
  10. What did they say? No hints I suppose?

I don't have twitter. Am I missing out on important things?
  12. Yeah, I always wondered if we were meant to choose between the two. In that case I'd go for epic, but I'd like awesome more. But anyway we don't know anything so...
  13. Tryptophan replied to Humma's topic in Major Minus
Yeah that title was leaked before. Someone must have been quite sure that this was the song, and the rest of us followed. I don't know. EDIT: ^I agree, somtimes I think he is the only one who's always at top level, but that would mean I'd just be bashing the rest of the band which isn't true. They can all rock for sure.
  14. If it was just some kind of game to turn a stupid sample into a "symphonic piece of music", then why did they release it as their first single? That being said, it's still flat, not only because of the melody. Aw man, I can't help it, I keep criticising this song over and over and over.
  15. It's not just that. It's the song as a whole. Chris' singing sounds monotone, especially in the beginning. He may like the keyboard sound and the melody (I don't), but it's not fit for a Coldplay song. The song sounds basically the same from beginning to end, just with more instruments. The lyrics are plain and superficial, just about "being happy, loving to live, loving to listen to music", and full of clichés. It's not good enough to write a Coldplay song about. Just a bad song because it doesn't come even a little close to matching my high standards for Coldplay. I think if it weren't a Coldplay single, I would mildly like it but still think 'meh'. But from now on, I won't rant about it anymore for another week. Major Minus has got my hopes up high. They're still a top band. I still love the rest of their music.
  16. I think you're being too negative here. Maybe I'm naive, but I'm sure the guys are still good guys, look at their fairtrade compaigning and charity stuff. Besides, you never know what success can do to people. Speaking of Jay-Z, in Lost+ he says success is like suicide.
  17. Thanks, I'm learning every day. For some reason I find that kind of stuff really interesting. :)
  18. Hey look, now I'm banned too.
  19. You're probably both right. After all, this whole ETIAW thing won't be more than (I doubt you can say it like that in English, it's a Dutch expression, but I'll use it anyway) a storm in a glass of water.
  20. Yeah because Coldplay are perfect and they can't do anything wrong. They're Gods. Nobody should ever criticise them, only worship is at its place.
  21. He shouldn't do that again. I'm not saying he won't. And by the way, they've used another theme to get on the stage way back in the noughties, in the Parachutes era. They did nothing with that track, like, they didn't build a song around it. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGankLCG2jM]YouTube - ‪coldplay launching parachutes part 1‬‏[/ame]
  22. So there's been going on a lot for the past week. A new single was released that was loved by many, disliked or even hated by many others. There has been a lot of ranting and negative criticism by core fans. My question is, do the band know what's going on in their fan base? Second, do they give a fuck?
  23. That's a pretty good joke. Now why did you make a thread about this?
  24. How does one exactly view who voted for which song? EDIT: nevermind
  25. Tryptophan replied to iPsy's topic in Coldplay
That would be a plain horrible album title. How do you pronounce that word? Does it mean anything?
