  1. Yeah, after all it's all about taste and opinion. I don't like either Bohemian Rhapsody or Stairway to Heaven, but I acknowledge that these are classics. I think Wonderwall is nowhere near the best Oasis song, and though they're a good band, they're just a bunch of assholes, especially Liam.

What's HJF? Nvm, you're talking about Heineken Jammin Festival yeah Seriously, never heard about Sympathy for the Devil? :shocked2: I don't see the resemblance, apart from the woohoow part, which isn't even that close.
  3. I've been thinking the exact same thing. @ Kroket: Exactly, the same for me. Though I wouldn't buy a shirt that looked as arty-farty as the ETIAW cover art. Just plain red, blue or yellow or so with "Coldplay" and a Coldplayish drawing on it. But this, just some letters on a white or black shirt? And seriously, "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall"? As if we'd go to a Coldplay concert just for that song? I want a shirt that just says Coldplay without any connection with that lame single. Damn, there I go again. Oh, I should have bought one two years ago.

    no
  5. I'd rather have a masterpiece released in November than a dull record released tomorrow.
  6. I think that's rather a ninth of a post. On topic, OP has a point. A few points even. Notice how 1/4 of all Coldplay fans would prefer ETIAW over any of around 6 classic songs that's in a list, including Imagine and Wonderwall.

Also Oxfam logos. I like. Or am I seeing that wrong?
  8. Every waterfall is an apocalypse
  9. I agree with you, although I gave up on my efforts to try and enjoy ETIAW. I just can't.
  10. Nah, that seems highly unlikely. Most of the new songs we've seen will definitely be on the album. (Again, let's make abstraction of the song ETIAW, I know, I still can't help bashing that song in every post I make :p) This has been said before. They will try to leave an impression that's as good as possible with their live appearances. So they will play the better new songs. And they will try to make the LP as good as possible. So they will include the better new songs. Saying they would play new stuff that won't be on the album just to keep us from being spoiled, makes little sense to me.
  11. I agree with the first paragraph. I am spoiled all the way through. I needed to see the new songs to be certain that ETIAW will not be the sound of the new Coldplay. Luckily, it doesn't seem like it now. Oh well, there's nothing better than seeing new things live first (I'm going to Werchter Festival) although I've seen live records of all the new songs they played as of yet. But still, the album will be a lot different. Half of the songs we won't have heard before, the way the songs we know will be recorded is unclear now, the order of the songs, etc.
  12. Good job. Now find the other two songs that aren't on AROBTTH :p Edit: Oh well, sorry, I'm in a trolling mood today.
  13. My ideal X&Y tracklisting would be: Politik In My Place God Put A Smile Upon Your Face The Scientist Clocks Major Minus Daylight Green Eyes Warning Sign A Whisper A Rush of Blood to the Head Amsterdam Til Kingdom Come Lol just kidding, I like all songs on the album, most of them just not as much as the other albums.
  14. The source says it's a reliable source they got it from, but I think it's not true at all. We would have an official announcement first. This is the only source we have, coming from a German radio station. Which isn't very reliable for information about a British band that has more than one way to announce things on their own. Personally, I believe we will know more in the first half of July, but a release before half August seems very unlikely.

  16. Yeah, well I guess we just have different interpretations of what "big" means. I wasn't really talking about all the instruments anymore, but rather about the catchy "killer"tunes, the (cheap) pop sound they're using more and more. Although Clocks is one of my favourites and it has a rather catchy tune, but we all know that Clocks is a lot more than just the piano tune. I can't say that ETIAW is so much more than just the tune. I hope I'm making myself clear.
  17. If you're reading my mind, then stop it, okay, it's creeping me out :p About X&Y, I actually think that some b-sides from that era sound better than some songs that are actually on the album. But there are also really splendid ones on that album too! Like A Message!
  18. EVERYONE I KNOW SAYS I'M A FOOL TO MESS WITH YOU
  19. I wouldn't mind if they made another song like 1'36". It sounds punkish, I like it.
  20. What on earth does using a gazillion instruments, altering voices and overly repeating the same boring tunes and chords have to do with "trying harder"? So if they record a good stripped down song using 3 instruments and a human voice, they're "not trying hard enough"? I'm starting to hate the word "big", "big tunes", "big direction", "big band". How does having a "big sound" make a band any better? No, it's just screaming for a more immature teen audience, an audience that doesn't think more deeply about music and doesn't understand that stripped down and acoustic is not the same as dull and bad. While there are less and less bands that can do what Coldplay can do, and not even Coldplay themselves are doing it in this song. Songs like this are a huge step backwards. Thank God their other new music isn't like this.
  21. Don't let it burn your house. Seriously, I've never known that they've made such a cheesy title ever before. Oh well, I just hope the music will be good.
  22. Yes, indeed, and I think some/many of our opinions are just different from yours. (I know there's a gap in my argumentation, so beyond this point let's pretend ETIAW never happened.) I believe that Coldplay are still Coldplay, and I love VLV (the album, the track I'm not so keen on, but I still like it). I recognise that they're still the same band, the same people. But of course I can't force you to like it. VLV has good quality though. It's just different from a Rush of Blood, so you can't compare. That's a good thing, because I'd rather they make something different but still very good, than the same thing, which will not really be the same and as a result be less good. LP5 will also have good stuff, and I honestly think that I will like it, even though we can't really know at this stage. However I can't know or promise that you will like it too.
  23. Because I wanted to know more about the new songs - apart from ETIAW - and because I wanted to discuss (burn to the ground :p) ETIAW and see other fans' opinions. And yeah, Arctic Monkeys are the shit.
  24. I was also brainwashed and completely blown away by A Rush in 2003 (I didn't really know about it before), I was 10 back then. My mum played it constantly and I loved it. It's still by far my favourite album of all time, any band. Two years later I was hyped by X&Y, until I was a little less into Coldplay. When VLV came, I thought it was a weird album, I didn't really like it at first. I discovered Parachutes as a full album and it immediately outranked X&Y and VLV. In 2009 I saw them at Werchter and I was simply blown away. Coldplay became more than ever my favourite band. I discovered everything about them, B-sides, live albums and stuff. About VLV, it took me dozens and dozens of listens to realise that it's (in my opinion) their 2nd best album. It's different, but original, no other band could make anything that comes close. It's alternative, yet it has mainstream success. It's varied, yet everything fits well together. You can't expect them to remake the first two albums over and over again. The fact that they change, and still maintain the core of what makes them Coldplay, makes them (one of) the best bands in the world. About ETIAW, yeah it's flat, it sucks, but I'm confident that LP5 will be great, and maybe combine the best things of VLV with the best things of the older albums (certainly if, fingers crossed, ETIAW won't be on it). You have to trust what they are doing, please.
