  1. Ok, here we are. Inspired by the new thread created by our new Canadian poster. We need some moar hockey on Coldplay forums. Chicago / Minnesota Series - Chicago Leads 2-1 Anaheim / LA Series - LA Leads 2-0 Montreal / Boston Series - Montreal Leads 2-1 Pittsburgh / New York Series - Pittsburgh Leads 3-1 My thoughts: Nothing is better than PK Subban trolling the Bruins. It'd be funny if LA won the cup again, especially after barely escaping elimination in the first round against SJ. Good bye Todd McLellan? I think Boston comes back and wins the series vs. Montreal. I think Rick Nash isn't what he used to be, and Pittsburgh will roll-on. Haven't followed the Chicago/Minny series, but you'd have to pick Chicago as favorites. Oh yeah, Pierre McGuire is a creep. GO!
  2. You a hockey fan? Do we have hockey fans on this forum?
  3. what's up booklover? Haven't seen you around lately. Then again, I took a sabbatical for a little while.
  4. Knock it out of the park! I am envious, takes a lot of guts to do that, so go you!
  5. I've felt those kind of pressures before with school, except it was based on all the academics, the money wasn't so much of a problem. I still have nightmares, even after being done with college, that I am failing a subject, or something is going terribly wrong in one of my classes. Nice piece. I enjoyed reading it.
  6. so, are essay style pieces welcome here?
  7. Meh, no reason to feel overwhelmed. Just start at one part of the room and go from there. As Batman said, throw some music on, or even a movie or something else like that and just work at it. It's something you know you want to do because your friend is coming to visit you, so you might as well just get on with it right? Starting is the worst, but you'll get settled into it.
  8. I don't really want to move state tbh, I really like Florida haha. I am willing to move around in-state though, I think, if the job is really worth it. I'd just like to get my foot in the door somewhere and go from there. Not expecting an amazing job right out of college, even though that is what college sells you when you are there -- takes these classes, and upon graduation, a guy in a suit will offer you a 70k year job as you walk across the stage at commencement ceremony. Ha.
  9. I have a B.S. in Health Care Management. I am trying hard to find a job, I check the listings daily, but it's hard to stand out in a sea of people also looking for jobs. I spent over an hour last night just trying to make a cover letter better haha. I just don't want to be here 6 months later still searching, even though that's very possible.
  10. Hmm, just listened to ASFOS, and it seemed at the beginning of the song he sounded nervous or just plain off. I notice sometimes it seems like Chris gets a bit nervey when playing newer songs. It may just be me though. It would make me nervous.
  11. Anybody else job searching? I am a recent college grad. I didn't think this would be more stressful than college itself :(
  12. Just awaitin' on this cover/tut ;)
  13. Show sounds epic guys. I can't wait for this dang album any longer. I crave CP. lol.
  14. I'm already a huge fan of Always In My Head, and I really like ASFOS, and I also like Another's Arms, and Midnight is quite good too! Don't really like Magic that much. Here's the thing though, to me, to already like so many songs off the album, and O seems like a winner too -- this is much more than what I liked on Viva, and X&Y. This is going to be a damned good album I think. I am psyched!

Well, Chris shouldn't have drawn a penis on the lyrics. It's his own doing! :laugh3:

    Penis.
  17. This is amazing man.
  18. Hey guys, I play piano as a hobby, and as CP is my favorite band, I tend to closely analyze what piano Chris plays. It's well documented that Chris played a Yamaha GT-20 from AROBTTH all the way through MX. For those that don't know, (even though there are threads on it), this is a type of hybrid piano in which the acoustic "guts" of a piano, such as the action are included in the piano, but the soundboard, strings, and other bits are missing. The hammers hit sensors in the GT-20 and then the sound is produced electronically. The GT-20 is seen below. This piano has been de-commissioned, if you will, by Yamaha, and it's actually a fairly old model. I tried hunting one down for my own playing purposes, and alas, they aren't made anymore. However, Yamaha has introduced a new model of the hybrid series called the NU1 (MSRPs in the US for $6,000, but street prices are in the mid $4,000 range), which is basically the cousin of the GT-20, it looks mostly the same and the hallmark features are all the same except newer piano tones, but I digress (just in case anybody is interested). The smallest console piano I believe is 44" high. The GT-20 is about 40" high, so it isn't possible to make it "acoustic." I know there has been some confusion in the past on whether or not his GT-20 was acoustic/digital, just wanted to clear any more confusion up about that. The band stuck with the GT-20 for a REALLY long time, but now that Ghost Stories has come around, I noticed they aren't (so far) touring with the GT-20, but instead they've made the switch to what I assume to be a Yamaha Disklavier U1E3. I've looked through Yamaha's line-up, and I think this is what Chris is playing for GS, but I can't be 100% sure, if anybody has a better idea, feel free to chime in. I think this is a disklavier piano because, as you can see, nobody is at the piano, yet it's playing on its own. When "Magic" begins, Johnny plays some chords on the piano, and then loops it, and then goes to guitar. I think it's a Yamaha U1 disklavier, but I am not entirely sure which model, as the current Yamaha DU1E3 doesn't quite make an "exact" match of what the band is using. Compare the two, particularly on the sides of the key-bed. The sides of the key-bed of the piano on tour are softer than the current DU1E3 Yamaha offers, which are more jagged and rise sharper. So I am not overly sure one way or the other, unless it's an older model they are using, considering they have used an old technology/piano in the GT-20 for a long, long time before now. If anybody has any better idea of what exactly it might be, feel free to post. As an aside, I like the switch to the acoustic, especially on Clocks, it sounds great, but at some points you can hear the very bright MIDI piano tone they have been using for a long time with the GT-20 on the song "Another's Arms." /nerd over.
  19. From listening to this interview, I learned something new about Chris Martin. We look at "stars" and perceive them as if they are bullet proof, and maybe they don't suffer from the same feelings that we "normal" people do. One thinks, well hey, Chris Martin is one of the biggest musical stars in the world today and is worth multi-millions, what problems could he possibly have? Sure, he isn't living pay-check to pay-check, or does he ever really need to worry about financials in his life again, but the guy still has immense issues in his own personal life. Sometimes I get the feeling we forget that these stars are still just people, and I've listened to a lot of Martin interviews, and never has he seemed as vulnerable as he did there. You just don't see or hear that kind of thing often from people that high profile.
  20. I can't stop listening to this. Legitimately been on repeat for the past 3 hours.
  21. I actually really like this a lot. It's very up-lifting, and very fitting for me, for this day since a friend very close to me that I only get to see every once in 3 or 4 years left today. I'm not one for huge synths and appreciate the less is more avenue of music creation, but this is excellent.
  22. I'm so happy this is all working out. Thank you to both parties. This is great.
  23. ah, looks like I read it wrong and started jumping to conclusions, my bad. :embarrassed: I was thinking to myself, what?! I am not going to get to see them for this album?! Nooooooooooooooo! I really want to see at least some of GS live.
