  1. I think something a lot of coldplayers have in common is that Coldplay provides music that suits us. I know in my case, I had almost no musical identity before I found Coldplay-I just didn't really like a lot of music I heard. It also seems like the optimism in the music really appeals to the fans-I hear a lot of people compare their feelings for Coldplay to being lifted, healed etc. I know the music makes me feel a lot better about things
  2. (prepare for a long post) For me, the moment I realized I loved coldplay was after I got an ipod nano for a gr. 8 grad present from my parents, and I needed to fill it with songs. I had loved clocks since I heard it on the radio in gr. 2, and my dad had a usb filled with music from a bazillion different artists, and I decided 'hey, I like one song by them, might as well try some more'. So I listened to Speed of Sound, Talk, Violet Hill, Strawberry Swing, and a bunch of others, and realized 'whoa, this band rocks!'. And so my love and fandom sprouted, and three years later, here I am!
  3. Wow, nice work combining the paint and the chalk
  4. What song best represents each album: Parachutes: Sparks A Rush Of Blood to The Head: Clocks X & Y: A Message Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends: Viva La Vida Mylo Xyloto: Charlie Brown
  5. So excited for this video! (if it's completely true that one is coming out) I hope they do something like in the Life In Technicolor II, kind of silly and humourous, but wildly energetic and colourful. I like the idea of the band as cartoon characters...lol
  6. Reasons I love Coldplay: When life gets me down, Coldplay's music can cheer me up, it's so optimistic and hopeful, lyrically beautiful. Though I've never actually met them, I feel a connection with the band members because though they're huge stars, they're all such down-to-earth, quiet, genuinely nice human beings, and in today's music industry, that's pretty special. They formed their band not because they wanted to become huge stars and make money, but because they all love making music, especially with each other. As chris has said before, even if people dislike the music, they still all love working with each other; their relationship always comes before money or fame. I almost never like love songs, but Coldplay's music is so full of genuine emotion, I adore even the songs that are about love I'm quite artistic, and every time I listen to a Coldplay song, I feel inspired, full of the need to paint or draw something. I love the sense of community the love for the band has created on sites like this, I think it's so cool that I can talk about my favorite songs to a person on the other side of the planet. And finally, the MUSIC. It's got such variety, sincerity, joy, sorrow, ranging across all sorts of textures and feelings. Never in my life has music made me feel this way, like dancing, shouting, crying and laughing all at once.
  7. Whoa, another thing that makes coldplay playing live awesome? can it be??
  8. ^ awesome cover
  9. Wow, that's a pretty awesome assignment! I'd probably use the line "In my scarecrow dreams, when they smash my heart into smithereens, be a bright red rose come busting through concrete" from Charlie Brown, with a multicolored spiral (I know it's the HLH symbol I just like spirals lol). I like your design too though, especially the butterfly
  10. I see your point, after all what else is a forum for but voicing opinions? As for chilling out, I wasn't particularly worked up in the first place, but ok. I've never had people tell me to 'get a life' or 'you need a boyfriend' either, and ok, maybe i will fall out of my fandom for coldplay, but if that happens, isn't it all the more reason to enjoy it now? Also I understand that there will be people who don't like coldplay, and when I meet those people, I just turn the conversation in a different direction, I like to avoid confrontation. As was explained, this thread is more for understanding WHY people dislike coldplay, not for flaming them. People will use this thread to flame, of course, but that can't be helped. Lastly, I have a lot of reasons for disliking Justin Bieber, but it's all about opinions, right?
  11. Thanks :) , The whole war theme is also kinda underlined by the marching beat the song has
  12. Exactly, I've analysed Violet Hill for a school project, and I think it's about the glorification of war, and how though we show all this support for our troops and whatnot, how much can we really love them when we're sending a lot of them to their deaths in a strange place? (sorry, runon sentence much)
  13. I know, I really don't get it either...I think they mistake Chris's falsetto for whining, which is balanced by his ability to go pretty low as well. Not to mention it's lovely :D
  14. I know one coldplay hater, she's a friend of mine, and she uses the tired old 'their music is whiny' argument, and apparantly their music is irrelevant to any world issues, completely ignoring songs like Politik and Violet Hill
  15. My favorites are Strawberry swing (love the stop motion, and chris as a superhero), life in technicolor II (all the people's 'wtf' reactions to the coldplay puppet show) and paradise (adorable story) I would love a video for Sleeping Sun :)
  16. My thoughts exactly! That would have been so cute lol
  17. I agree with a lot of people here: I don't hate the song, but I don't really like it either. It's just...there. I've tried listening to it more than once, but nothing about it really caught me or would cause me to like it
  18. All the boys are pretty awesome
  19. I'm just gonna say there are very few songs where chris DOESN'T jump around crazily lol. He even tries to while playing guitar or piano
  20. Oh dear, nightmares about Guy, pretty terrifying lol
  21. The first thing I thought after hearing life in technicolor was "damn, why wouldn't they run with that?? It needs length and lyrics!", and after those things were added, it's now one of my favorite songs ever
  22. I had a coldplay-ish dream once, but all I can remember is that chris was in it and his hair was short. No idea what actually happened lol
  23. thanks to The Champion for assistance
