LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Apropos of last week's Justin Bieber discussion, his songs are in the top 10 songs of the year lists by Rolling Stone and NME while Coldplay is near the end of the list.

Lana Del Rey

AHFOD Reviews by Music Critics
Phuk yeah NME but I expected that they've been fangirling since the beginning of this era. The metacriticis score is now 61 just like GS's.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Oh I AGREE sheer excitement-wise. *___* Love both of those 1-2-3 punches. Nothing beats the 1-2-3-4-5 punch of AROBTTH tho. Like that section of their discography alone places them among the greats.

Regarding promotion will they be doing Graham Norton? Let me rephrase that. Will they appear on his show? Also Colbert please. I don't even know on which continent they are currently.

Which Coldplay Album Would You Consider the Band's Masterpiece?
I think it's crucial if you were introduced to them before or after VLV the song. They appealed to different people. It does nothing for me. Back then and now. I like to hear it after I've almost forgotten about it. I really liked Violet Hill after X&Y but in general they seemed less epic. The album does flow very well and features many great songs but it's borderline bland and not edgy at all. I was far more excited for MX when it came out (after being initially disappointed by ETIAW) and still think it's pretty brilliant as a glow-in-the-dark-urban-graffiti-fantasy-thing, the whole thing is so youthful and celebratory and the bare melodic core of Paradise is vastly superior to VLV (considering them being the centerpieces). VLV gets kudos from me tho for them experimenting with actual instruments and for the way it's kinda airy and nuanced and for being the last album that doesn't trigger the lyrical gag reflex too often. tl;dr VLV is overrated but I'm very very VERY happy it exists

===The ultimate Oldplaying Thread===S, BS, TBR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM===
Wow I really REALLY want them to rock harder in the veins of GPASUYF/Violet Hill/Major Minus but this is so awkward and fake and mimics Thom Yorke's mannerisms and kinda embarrassing to watch. To be honest I think they (personified by Chris) are a lot more sincere and true to themselves now that they were on the first 3 albums, especially looking at the live performances. They are funny and smiley and dorky that's who they are take it or leave it. (or maybe just older and more confidant but I definitely prefer them live now)

:arobtth:- Guess The Singles
Yeah I agree that Fun is probably going to be a single instead of Birds but both would be equally unsuccessful. Still I'd like a video for Birds. There aren't any clear singles choices actually apart from Hymn. The opener is almost never a single, as well as the closer but Up&Up will probably be the last single of the album. Yeah idk- Random Coldplay thoughts...
Stumbled upon many many coldplayers that don't post anymore. This place is a ghost town :( Been obsessed with the Oceans video Hope they'll play it on tour maybe And Politik and God Put A Smile Upon Your Face and Violet Hill and Cemeteries Of London and Strawberry Swing and Death And All His Friends and White Shadows and Square One and Talk and Charlie Brown and Don't Panic *sigh* The MX tour was so amazing tbh /random- Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
pls This song is a qt I think you're so cool is a qt line pls Also the abrupt ending is adorable and it's not really abrupt it transitions into HFTW I mean how would you finish this song it's frantic from start to finish This song is like a hummingbird that got into a pot of honey and died of excitement IT DIED YOU GUYS- Adele
My comment was brought on by the stories of people saying that record stores now basically look like one big commercial for 25 but I agree that the album isn't selling because the stores look like that, it's the other way around, because people want the album so much, the stores are stocked with it. Just like 21, it's selling because it's different from the popular stuff out there. Similarly, X&Y was the best selling album worldwide in 2005 because it mobilized all the people who didn't like the prevailing sound of that time. Ironically, they are being accused of sounding too commercial now but sell much less than back when they were "alternative".- Adele
