Singles are not based on opinions, mate. You don't consider a track a single. It's either a single or not. Now, if you want to believe in industry terms such as "promo items" and "actual releases", feel free to. The Oracle uses those words because he's in the industry, and the industry uses words like those. In the end, those words all mean the same thing basically. It also seems you don't know what a sense of humor is. I'm not actually going to grab a "Midnight" single and slap everyone in the face with it; that would just be silly! :laugh3:

But there's a "Midnight" single. It exists. You can buy it if copies are still left in your local record store. there's even a Digital single on Google Play, 7digital and such. It very much exists. The "biz" can say what it wants, but they're only just obscuring the definition of "single". I've had this argument on Wikipedia 5000 times already! :P

iTunes have been sucking up to Coldplay since "Viva la Vida" came out. It could easily happen, especially since the "First Play" idea wasn't around when Mylo Xyloto came out.

Makes me wonder; if I were to take this, and proceed to slap them in the face with it, would they still believe that no "Midnight" single exists? Just a thought. :lol:

"Moving to Mars" has too much of a similarity to Mylo Xyloto in terms of production. I would've thought both "Moving to Mars" and "Atlas" would fit well on Mylo Xyloto, although "Atlas" could possibly fit into Ghost Stories because of it's musical tone, but it would be a tight fit.

It shouldn't be considered a single. It IS a single. It was released as a 7" and a digital download single. All these people that throw around words like "promotional single" or consider singles as a status of a track rather than an actual release seriously don't know what they're talking about.

No, a single still retains it's definition. It's just the format that has changed. Today singles are usually sold on digital, rather than CDs or Vinyls. Radio releases and music videos have nothing to do with it.

If you look on Google Play or 7digital or sites like such, you can actually find actual "Magic", "Midnight" and "A Sky Full of Stars" singles, instead of it being an album track.

I think every track on the album is just brilliant. It's the most beautiful album I've heard in a long while. Eight years in the dark has done great things for the band!
