1. Post back if you get tickets and maybe we'll see each other there! My son would love to meet another kid there.
2. I figure people will jump around and dance, but there should be chairs in all the rows keeping people from moshing or pushing towards the stage. My daughter is short (like under 4') and wouldn't be able to see over the flailing arms and heads on the floor, so she wouldn't have any fun with the crowd. You should be ok with the jostling. Are you going with other people so they can help shield you if needed?
3. A song that makes me feel more "up" than the title would suggest. Midnight
4. I'm going to this show with my daughter (age 8) and a friend of mine. My daughter's first concert ever, and my friend's first time to see CP. I saw them in 2012 at an arena, so I have no idea what to expect with a venue this big. I know we'll be waaaaayyyyyy back, but that's better for my little girl than being on the floor. She'd freak out with that level of crazy around her. I also picked the back seats so we can see the effects from straight out from the stage. In 2012 I was up and to the side of the stage. Good for seeing the band fairly close, but the effects looked weird from that angle, esp the lasers. We'll just have to watch the band from the stage screens to see their faces this time. :smart:
5. My son (age 13) & I are going to this show - his first concert ever! He's been reading "Roadie" by Matt McGinn to see what life on the road is like and what the crew do. We've got floor seats in section C1 row 3! Hope to see some fellow CP'ers there.
6. My kids (age 8 & 13) & I are going to the Chicago shows. Their first ever concert! I plan on making AHFOD t-shirts with the flower of life going from the center front up to one of the shoulders. Not massively original (I might have seen that in the CP store?) but looking to save some money, and with more color choices than they have online. I plan on writing "Next-Gen Coldplayer" on the back of the kids' shirts and maybe my CP'ing user name on the back of mine. I'm assuming phrases like "Newplayer" and "Oldplayer" might be too controversial in a crowd of CP'ers.???
7. Haha! :laugh3: I agree, I didn't mean I want to see her, I just thought it seemed strange.
8. Hey everyone, I haven't been watching the recent live shows in detail because I'm trying to save some surprises for when I see them in July, but from what I've seen, it looks like Will is singing Beyonce's parts in HFTW. Is that right? If so, I wonder why they don't use back stage screens showing her on video like they did for POC on the MX tour with Rihanna. Are they trying to distance themselves from Bey?
9. I wonder if the death of Prince will change the tribute song in the next leg of the tour, maybe swapping out the David Bowie song with a Prince cover. I don't know how much Coldplay are fans, but I know the Oracle is a huge fan.
10. I haven't watched any of the tour videos yet so I can be surprised by the effects when I see them in July, but I'm keeping up with the setlists. Can you please tell me which of the B and C stages are on the right or left as you look at the stage? (I know A is the main stage.) I've got floor seats on the right and wonder which I'll be closer to. Thanks! Love this thread.
11. + Clocks 3 VLV 2 Paradise 2 O 2 Midnight, GPASUYF Live, Charlie Brown, Talk, AROBTTH, Amsterdam 1 - XMTS 5 A spell a rebel yell 2 I bloom blaum 2 Up in flames 2 Murder, A whisper, Yes, Chinese sleep chant 1
12. Two shows for me, the ones in Chicago. Like Steve said, one seated and one standing! Taking my kids, age 13 & 8. Their first concert ever! Next-gen Coldplayers. :happy2:
13. On the Today show this morning, they said the CP crowd could get combined with spring breakers, which will make it even crazier. Just a warning.... :wtf: I'll be cheering for you guys if you decide to go for it. I'm just glad I don't have to make that decision for myself I'm too many states west of there to go. Hoping to live vicariously through you!
14. Does anyone know if it's common for bands to play longer sets at a stadium show than they would for arenas? I'm hoping for two hours this time! :nice:
15. Ha! That does sound a lot like me, except I barely knew they existed pre MX. I was more of a rock fan and my radio station didn't play them. Except for one fateful day they played Viva and I've never been the same! That hooked me. I had a lot of catching up to do on their old songs, hence the year of the obsession. :cheesy:
16. I saw that too! Great way to pick your team! LOL :drinking:
17. You guys watching from outside the US, can you see the commercials? If you didn't already know, that's the other thing a lot of people watch the Super bowl for. Companies spend millions of dollars on those ads because of all the viewers they get. Hope you enjoy them! My favorites are the funny ones.
18. I might have missed something in this thread, but are we only assuming that Bey will perform her new "song" or is this confirmed? Still hoping she only dropped it to create hype, but might not perform it.
19. This just in! My daughter heard me playing HFTW just now and excitedly said, "They're playing that on the Super bowl tonight. I heard it on the news!" I did my best to get more info from her on what exactly she heard, but the details were sketchy at best. She's only 8, loves this song and probably just heard what she wanted to hear. Probably not the most reliable source, but it gave me hope for a minute. :laugh4:
20. I have a husband who can't be convinced. I basically drug him to my first Coldplay concert on the MX tour because my friends either (1) don't like CP, or at least not enough to go, (2) were unavailable, or (3) couldn't afford the tickets. He liked CP a little in the past, but I got obsessed with them in the year leading up to that show, and I pretty much turned him against them because he got tired of hearing about them. He sat like a lump at the concert and walked out half way through. I swore then I'd never go to another CP concert with him. This time one of my friends is confirmed.
