  1. I'm looking forward to Alessia Cara. I really like her song called "Here". It's about being stuck at a party that she went to with her friends, and she hates every minute of it with all the a-holes and drunks there. Reminds me of college when I felt the same way at parties. Having young kids, I think it's a great message for them to know that you don't have to go along with the crowd, and it's okay to not enjoy partying. It's got an interesting beat and melody too. CP.com posted a good article about her opening for the band, and that dreadful "first opener" spot she had during the European tour. http://coldplay.com/alessia-cara-interview/
  2. Yes, Foxes will go on first, then Alessia Cara. On the European tour, Alessia was going first, and someone else went second, but she got bumped up a notch for the US tour.
  3. I'm not sure yet what time I'll be there on Saturday. Traveling with a friend who might not be able to leave early enough for us to get to Chicago early for meeting people outside. I might have to post when we get there and find people in their sections.
  4. Oops, posted the same time as I Ran Away. [emoji4] Do hers next.
  5. I'm not sure how all the writing is handled for instruments the main songwriter doesn't play, but I do know something about the performance part. I know someone who's professional job is called a "session musician" and he plays guitar. He travels all around playing guitar for solo performers who don't have a full time band backing them up. Not usually on a tour, like for multiple shows, but for recording sessions or one-off performances. I believe he has an agent who places him on these jobs, and his role is to sight-read the music sheet and learn the songs quickly to play with the singer for a short time. I'm not sure how he's credited on recordings he's been on, or live performances. But he gets paid whatever the going rate is for the part he does, and I think that's it. He makes a good living, but nothing out of the ordinary. Middle class I'd say. That's what I am, and I know him through my son's Boy Scout Troop. He's one of the scout dads, and came to one of the meetings to explain his job and demonstrate playing on all the different guitars he has for the kids' merit badge in the fine arts. He could play riffs for just about any style of music, and took requests from the boys. At the end I tried to get him to play the opening riff to Yellow, but I ended up looking like a crazy mom who butted too much into the kids' meeting. LOL [emoji28]
  6. I'm really bummed about AROBTTH too. [emoji22] Normally I'd vote for Politik now, just out of spite, but I'll wait a few more rounds. Got a couple others to vote out first..... Hurts Like Heaven
  7. Very good to know! Thanks for the heads up. I'll be at both Chicago shows. Can't wait! [emoji1]
  8. The floor/stage changes worked out well for me. For the Sunday show, I had two tickets in C1 and Ticketmaster upgraded them to A2! My old tickets didn't even get affected that much by the stage changes, but they offered the exchange anyway at the same price. Anyone who hasn't called them yet to check on upgrades, you should definitely try. You'll want to call their "already purchased tickets" line at 800-653-8000 and be prepared to give your order number, phone number for the order, and last 4 digits of the cc you paid with. I spent about 45 minutes on the phone, but mostly on hold. I just kept working, listen on the speaker phone.

  10. I didn't know the details on this before, but your question made me check. [emoji6] I found this website http://wikicoldplay.com/index.php/Gravity that talks about the chain of events. Apparently CP performed it live a few times at the end of the AROBTTH tour in 2003, but they hadn't recorded it yet. Then they gave it to Embrace who recorded it in 2004 rather than using it on their next album. Coldplay then recorded it in 2005 as the b-side on the Talk single.
  11. Have fun tonight MetLife'ers! Almost show time! [emoji322] [emoji444] [emoji1]
  12. And how do you get inside the venue that early?
  13. Fix You fix you fix you fix you fix you fix you fix you #SaveClocks
  14. Yep, I agree with everything you said. I love how no one really knows what the set list will be from one show to the next with all the changes on the B & C stages. I think I got my hopes up early on that one of my kids' request videos might actually get chosen because they're cute (of course I'm biased [emoji39] ), and then I got bummed out when I realized it's probably not that simple. I blame it on my motherly instinct coming out to fight for them. But then again, I'll be doing my own video too, so I guess I'm competing against them too! LOL. [emoji28] On the bright side I've decided not to stress over which song they request and to just encourage them to pick one they really like. This will also help them learn some other CP songs that they aren't used to hearing from my phone downloads in the car all the time. I pulled out all my old album CD's tonight and made a long list of the songs they should listen to and pick from, taking off the ones on the regular set list that I know won't get chosen. I look forward to hearing what they decide on!
  15. Ugh...this is really hard now. Talk
  16. In reply to The Scientist, I'd say the video, followed closely by how it was referenced it the 2nd Fifty Shades book, Fifty Shades Darker. Loved how it was used there. Violet Hill
  17. Norys, I've always wanted to reply like that to AROBTTH. I didn't see that one quick enough and you beat me to it. Lol [emoji23]
