Amazing Day
Amazing Day is growing on me more and more over time. I like it better than AOAL simply because it has a sort of passion/emotion that the new single doesn't have... Sure, it has the undeniable influence of Stargate, but it's probably the closest we'll get to another sweet Parachutes/AROBTTH type of ballad. I would've rated it 7.5 points out of 10 when I first heard it, but now I give it an 8.

Fun (feat Tove Lo)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's never heard of Tove Lo. Hopefully this song will turn out alright. I do remember that Fun was a song given away like Gravity and Lukas so who knows if it's the same?!? It has probably been too long since the original was written, though... Or, alternatively, the song is a cover of this:

Everglow
I saw the title and thought of a song by the band Everclear called So Much For The Afterglow. Everglow is such a cool title.

Hymn for the Weekend
At first I thought it said Hymn For The Weeknd and I immediately panicked haha. There's no way this song won't be the second single, since it seems to be the other talked-about song right now. I have a feeling this one is gonna be Paradise Part 2. It's likely going to be the biggest hit from AHFOD. Noel would be great but I feel like he's not on one of the more poppy moments of the record.

Birds (Song and Video out now Jan 2) pg 17 for Vid
Lol  I once jokingly predicted they would write a song called Birds so I can't believe it came true! :D I'm guessing this one will be more subdued. A song called Birds sounds like a ballad to me, especially coming from Coldplay.

A Head Full Of Dreams (Title track)
I have a feeling this one's going to be among my favorites on the entire album. Not a single opening track has disappointed me and I highly regard each of them, so I'm actually expecting more from this song than I expected from AOAL. I agree. Viva fits 13 songs into roughly 42 minutes so 11 songs doesn't mean this album is long.

#AOAL - Please post your review
The first time I heard AOAL, I admittedly had some mixed feelings. On one hand I was ecstatic to finally hear a new single, but on the other hand it sort of felt like it was missing something. Like, I was a little overwhelmed hearing this new funky, VERY danceable track and less of the raw instrumentation that I wished for. I guess I just wanted more of an MX type of song with little Indian influences sprinkled in. With repeated listens, though, AOAL is growing on me. The riff is one of the coolest ones of the band's career in my opinion, and though the song will probably never reach the level of "Coldplay classic" for me, it's a fun pop song. Though it skirts close to Daft Punk, it still sounds like Coldplay and unlike GS, the whole band is contributing. I already mentioned Jonny's riff, and Guy still knows how to create a fun bass line. I hear some electronic drums but Will doesn't completely neglect his real drums. The lyrics aren't bad either. They could be far worse. A few lines, especially "A dream that died by light of day," really stand out to me. The band is headed in an interesting direction and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Amazing Day is my favorite of the two songs we've heard so far, but I still rate Adventure of a Lifetime 7.5 points out of 10.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I'm off to bed as well, I may wake up in 2 hours to listen but I won't be back on the forum til tomorrow so good night everyone. :) I hope you all enjoy the song, I'll surely have it on repeat all day long tomorrow! Take care, I have a feeling good things are coming our way. :)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
He also said more recently that everything he does is a Bono move and Bono's still going strong in his mid-50s so I think Chris can do it. :D

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Well, they are using the hashtag #AHFOD in the teasing, so I think it's safe to assume this is for an album. ;)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
No problem. ;) Adventure of a Lifetime... this thread has been an adventure! It's been around since before GS even came out, and now the first single is finally about to drop.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I was afraid it would be cut way too short but 4:24 is a good length. It's not too short yet not too long for radio airplay either. Also... 4:24 424

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Alright, that's a good idea. I don't think I'll be on the forum soon before and after the song airs, though. The site's sudden high traffic is probably going to make it nearly unusable. :p

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
A little over 3 hours to go, but it will be almost 1:00 a.m. here and I have school in the morning... do you think it's worth staying up to listen? :D

Heya!
Welcome to Coldplaying, Phil! :) I'm glad you can join us, even if you aren't Phil Harvey. ;)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I agree. I can't handle much more teasing, and I want the song so badly right now  but I'm willing to wait another day to actually hear it.

Favorite song performed live?
I would love it if Trouble returned to the setlist. I think they've only played it twice since 2009... :( IIRC, Trouble was played once in 2011 at Pinkpop Festival and once in 2012 when Will's electronic drums broke and they needed to replace Up In Flames. Why didn't they try it out in one of the GS shows? The whole Parachutes album was practically made for those smaller venues.

Happy Birthday Captain Crieff!
I'm a bit late to the party now because it is Thursday in Belgium but happy birthday! :happy2:

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I think Friday is the latest that they could announce any tour dates that will take place before Christmas. Attendees need time to adjust their schedules and the band needs time to rehearse/get everything ready. Remember, they're using a brand new stage and performing in larger venues for the first time in 3 years. I think the AHFOD tour will be pretty big like the Viva and MX tours were.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Something tells me that's a subtle hint that the word "awake" appears in the song title.

***Coldplay SINGLES Elimination Game*** - let's single out the best single
I vote for Clocks. Few songs can match Fix You's level of emotion. Clocks is musically powerful but it has nothing on the pure emotional release of Fix You. Clocks can fill a stadium, but Fix You turns a stadium into a venue as intimate as a tiny theater or church for 2/3 of the song and then gets so big and so anthematic that it breaks the hell out of that stadium.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I hope they can get an interview with Zane Lowe again. I'm sure, given his closeness with the band, he's probably already heard the song.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I'm guessing 3:30-4:00. I think the intro is about 20 seconds long (maybe longer if this is the album opener), and then it drops!
-
LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Didn't somebody who heard the song say that it starts with a guitar riff intro and no other instruments until the rest of the band joins in? Maybe that's what this is.
