  1. Well I just listened to the whole Embarkments playlist and I like it. :) Ode to Deodorant is a nice upbeat opener and Atlas is an amazing closing song. The middle of the tracklist flows better than I expected and in general the whole "album" works well.
  2. Don't ever let go... Well, don't ever let Oceans go (yet). I highly recommend voting for Ink or O. :D
  3. TLDR they won't split up but they'll take a break instead. LP8 will be something they've never done before.
  4. I think they'll release an EP during the tour. It sounds like they first began planning AHFOD when MX was just coming out so they probably had a lot of ideas that never made it to the album. The tour will be like the MX tour except the Latin American fans will get their fill of live Coldplay this time. :) After the tour, they will go on a hiatus for several years. Each member will spend time with his family and will have the opportunity to settle down. Guy will continue with Apparatjik and Chris will feature on a few other artists' songs. In general, the stress of being one of the biggest bands in the world will be temporarily lifted off their shoulders. As for LP8 at the end of the break... it will be something we don't expect. It will be the start of a new chapter, as Chris hinted, so it sure won't sound like AHFOD Part 2. I doubt they'll record something as adventurous as Kid A or Achtung Baby, but they'll still release something that gets the world's attention and shouts "We're back!!!"
  5. I agree with just about everything you said. It seems that Stargate played the same role with AHFOD that Brian Eno played with Viva. The last time the band was this excited to experiment was way back in 2008. Now, it's not necessarily going to be experimental in the same way that Viva was; it's not going to sound the same because how can you experiment if you're repeating something you've already done? AOAL features Coldplay trying on a new side of their sound, and they seem to be excited about it! It might not be art rock shoegaze, but it's a whole new element to the diverse Coldplay sound. Since they do have that mindset with this album that they aren't going to confine themself to one single genre, I don't think the whole record is going to be a bunch of poppier songs. Instead, I think it's going to have a sort of diversity that the similarly bright and happy MX never had. Dancey pop is one inspiration for AHFOD, but so is Indian culture. Those are two VERY different things.
  6. I've always liked The Dubliners so I hope it survives for a while. It's a little like Chinese Sleep Chant except it actually has lyrics rather than "Sleeeeep satisfied!" over and over like a mantra. :D Now that I think of it, it's also a little like Hurts Like Heaven... M.M.I.X. and Mooie Ellebogen are my votes.

  8. I really need to make an Embarkments playlist. That's not a bad compilation. :) VLVODAAHF - 12 points X&Y - 10 points Mince Spies :p - 8 points
  9. I've always found that I enjoy GS the most when I listen to it late at night in the dark.
  10. Yay!!! :) You know, I kinda figured I Ran Away would rank in the top 3 because I cannot remember a single set of three votes from @I ran away that did not contain a vote for I Ran Away. :awesome:

Maybe the whole chorus is Chris singing "Carry onnnnnnn" :happy2:
  12. I'm guessing 3-4 new songs will be played: Adventure of a Lifetime, Amazing Day, Hymn For The Weekend, and maybe some random other song like Colour Spectrum or Everglow. That venue looks gorgeous. :) It reminds me of the GS tour venues. Maybe those are where this era's first shows will be before the band embarks on a full world tour next year.
  13. The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
  14. O It may be pretty and a great coda to the album but it's hardly a song... why a song like Oceans or even Ink deserves to go before it is beyond me.
  15. Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks
  16. The same sort of thing has happened to me on multiple occasions. A lot of people at my school know Atlas but only because it was in Catching Fire. I also came across someone who knows Don't Panic and literally almost nothing else from the band  but in general nobody cares about the non-hits.
  17. Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall

  19. Hi there, welcome to Coldplaying! I've already seen you around here a little bit so I figured it's a good opportunity to say hello. :) If only I could get my brother to join the forum, too bad he could care less about Coldplay! :(
  20. Coldplay - Fly On
