  1. Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly
  2. Hi there Allan, welcome to Coldplaying. :) I hope you are having a nice weekend too and I really like your band's cover!
  3. A couple tracks on Viva are fairly long but that's only because they have two songs each. There are few individual songs longer than 5 minutes so the game would probably go pretty quickly.
  4. Maybe the lyrics will be a little like The Goldrush, specifically "I went digging for gold." As long as it is nothing like Bruno Mars' Treasure, I'll be fine. :D
  5. They've already tried out so many genres and they seem to really enjoy varying their sound, so your idea isn't unlikely at all. Imagine the possibilities. :) I wish more modern popular artists would do the same thing.
  6. The World Turned Upside Down has the lyric "X&Y" in it (when it's not even on X&Y) so who knows? A song doesn't have to share a title with an album in order to reference it. ;)
  7. That's a good point, maybe she will contribute similarly to how Chris featured on U2's Iris (Hold Me Close) where he lends his beautiful falsetto to the song but doesn't sing actual lyrics. As for how the track will sound, I'm guessing more of a VLV, ETIAW, or Paradise sound.
  8. I miss it already! I hope the game can start up again soon, even if someone other than @arushofjacktothehead is in charge. If he's fine with it, maybe one of us could put together a new round.
  9. Same here, I almost felt like I was listening to The Scientist. :) There's a similar sweet piano sound and a beautiful, peaceful rhythm section from Guy and Will. Now I almost wish Amazing Day could've been made the first single; I want a studio version now! :)
  10. I came across this earlier and I should've posted it. I love the haunting electric guitar part as well, this might have been how it would've sounded if Coldplay had put it in Ghost Stories. I mean it has the chiming Another's Arms-esque guitar and the electronic drums so if it weren't for the lively lyrics it would work well.
  11. Up In Flames, Fly On, the single cover for Magic... haha is the "up" song or "bird" song a new tradition?
  12. I think Beyonce is on Up&Up as well as Hymn For The Weekend, if I'm not mistaken? After both Jay-Z and Rihanna collaborated with Coldplay, I did wonder if Beyonce would ever do the same. It appears her part consists more of backing vocals than a true duet, so we'll see how it turns out.
  13. Fun - We Are Young
  14. Me too!!! ASFOS's lyrics are still some of the cheesiest of their career but the energy was stepped up and all of a sudden it actually sounds natural... the studio version's EDM sound has been somewhat traded for more of a DLIBYH or ETIAW sound. This is closer to what I expected when I first read that ASFOS would probably be the "big" single from GS. Amazing Day was amazing too... now I almost wish Amazing Day had been the first single so we could get a studio version sooner.
  15. I figured they had planned this era for a long time. It basically confirms our theory that it's been in progress for a few years and not just since last summer. I love this quote as well. It appears that Stargate were just like Brian Eno this time around. And of course, Chris had to tease us about what might happen after this era... :happy2:
  16. You'd think that we would already know what the other songs were. That's strange, maybe there was another new song or two and it was kept a secret.
  17. Thank you, that is something that needed to be said. To be honest, this is probably the very happiest the band have ever been. For proof, just look at them in the photo you posted and in the two AOAL live performances. Pure joy. :) Maybe they don't want another AROBTTH. Maybe they simply want to be a band for the fun of it rather than to please absolutely everyone.
  18. AOAL live › AOAL studio version For me, since there is less of the poppy production from the studio recording, it feels more natural and less ASFOS-esque. When played live, the song is at least as good as something from MX. I'm pleasantly surprised! :)
  19. I would be fine with those instrumentals if each one were part of the same track as its parent song. It's annoying when I put my Coldplay in iTunes on shuffle, M.M.I.X. plays, and then Swallowed In The Sea comes on right after. It kills the flow.
  20. A Hopeful Transmission and Mooie Ellebogen This thread is a great idea. I'm sure I will enjoy it!
  21. Well said... Despite my Oldplayer views I commend them for continuing to evolve. They don't want to be confined... as GS shows us, they still know how to experiment and try out a left-field song or two. I still have hope for this record.
  22. I am definitely looking forward to watching this. Adventure of a Lifetime isn't bad live at all. If there's one thing I really do like about it, it is the energy. Did they ever give out Xylobands for award show performances back in 2011-2012? AOAL is a song that would go very well with them.
  23. :laugh3: What confuses me is that Fun is the only song that we know for sure is a collaboration. Maybe Beyonce and Noel Gallagher will only make very minor appearances on other songs.
