The Irving, Texas, company said a nationwide worker strike crippled its ability to make and deliver its products. Its brands also include Ding Dongs, Ho Ho's and Dolly Madison. Hostess had warned employees that it would file a motion in U.S. Bankruptcy Court to unwind its business and sell assets if plant operations didn't return to normal levels by Thursday evening. 7. Heathrow shut after another Dreamliner catches fire Shares in Boeing took a nosedive on Friday after one of its Dreamliner 787 aircrafts caught fire while parked at Heathrow, closing the airport. The incident, on a plane flown by Ethiopia Airlines, comes less than six months after Boeing was temporarily forced to ground the new plane, amid concerns over the safety of its batteries. The fuel-efficient lithium-ion batteries at the heart of the Dreamliner design overheated on two different jets, forcing Boeing to modify the planes before they were allowed to fly again. The American aerospace giant put more insulation around the batteries, encasing it in a stee…

There was no official confirmation on who would direct or star in the forthcoming film. 14. There are two very disturbing bills making their way through Congress: Protect IP Act (PIPA - S.968) and Stop Online Privacy Act (SOPA – H.R.3261). These bills are coated in rhetoric that I find disgusting since at their core they are online censorship bills. It’s incredible to me that Congress would take seriously anything that censors the Internet and the American public but in the last few weeks PIPA and SOPA have burst forth with incredibly momentum, largely being underwritten by large media companies and their lobbyists. A number of organizations in support of free speech and a free and open Internet have recently come out in opposition to these bills. They inc…

The order to remove the blueprints for the plastic gun comes after they were downloaded more than 100,000 times. The US State Department wrote to the gun's designer, Defense Distributed, suggesting publishing them online may breach arms-control regulations. Although the files have been removed from the company's Defcad site, it is not clear whether this will stop people accessing the blueprints. They were being hosted by the Mega online servic…

Derren Brown, in my opinion, is a truly interesting and brilliant man (Was a thread for a "Darren Brown", but that's not right.) To achieve his results, he combines magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship. He's not like your average David Blaine or any nonsense like that. If you don't know this man, you really need to give him a whirl. I'd suggest watching an episode of either "Trick Of The Mind", "Trick or Treat" or one of his live shows. In all of Derren's work, no stooges or participants are told about it beforehand. I'll post a link here, so you can get a feel of what his shows are like, but you really need to watch and episode or two, to get a …

The protest at Gezi Park started late on Monday after developers tore up trees but has widened into a broader demonstration against Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's Islamist-rooted Justice and Development Party (AKP). Friday's violence erupted after a dawn police raid on demonstrators who had camped for days in the park in anger at plans to build a shopping mall. Clouds of tear gas rose around the area in Taksim Square, long a venue for political …
