January 2, 201115 yr Soooo Interpol find themselves down under at the moment.... anyone get to see them at the Southbound Festival? i dont think we have many people from Perth on this forum. at least not many interpol fans from perth. but if there are any out there this is your time to speak out haha theyre in sydney next week but with tickets going at 90 bucks a pop i opted out of going. sadly the bands doing venues less than half the size of the ones they did on their last tour and still struggling to sell them out. bit of a shame cos i thought their 4th album was more than decent :S
January 4, 201115 yr Soooo Interpol find themselves down under at the moment.... anyone get to see them at the Southbound Festival? I'm seeing them again in NYC at Radio City next month.... can't wait  I can never get enough of them... and word on the street is that are playing a lot of festivals this summer as well..... I'll be at this one too. Will be my 5th show this tour. Like you said, never enough.

(or was it October) anyhoo... they last time they played here, they played a venue they had never played before. A beautiful theatre with 2 balconies and a huge orch section... wasn't HUGE as Radio City (which they sold out 2x in a row 5 years back) but since the last album... they had a hard time selling out the venue as well... eventually they did... like the week of, but I too am surprised! The 4th album was defo a step up from OLTA.... I LOVE IT! I can't stop listening to that album... Lights is spectacular live.... can't wait for next month
May 10, 201115 yr their sydney gig from january has been uploaded onto this great website. http://www.moshcam.com/interpol/enmore-theatre-875.aspx#/2-success
May 31, 201115 yr Damn it They are coming to Mexico... and I don't have time nor money :bigcry: Maan it sucks that bassist Carlos left, he's one of my favourite bass players ever and I think it was the secret of their sound. So how would you rank their albums? TOTBL Antics Interpol OLTA
May 31, 201115 yr So how would you rank their albums? TOTBL Antics Interpol OLTA Same order. Big gap between Antics and self-titled. But although I still don't like the self-titled much, "Lights" is stellar live.
May 31, 201115 yr Same order. Big gap between Antics and self-titled. But although I still don't like the self-titled much, "Lights" is stellar live. Yes, their first two records were quite superior to the last two. Their self-titled it's okay, but it's more of the same and there are just 2 or 3 solid tracks.
June 3, 201115 yr Damn it They are coming to Mexico... and I don't have time nor money :bigcry: Maan it sucks that bassist Carlos left, he's one of my favourite bass players ever and I think it was the secret of their sound. So how would you rank their albums? TOTBL Antics Interpol OLTA Same order here. Have you seen Carlos' crazy video? I think I'm the only Interpol fan who was not a Carlos fan. I appreciate his musicianship, but found him arrogant & annoying. I am really interested to see if they will back off the orchestration on the next album (praying there's one), without his influence.

I am really interested to see if they will back off the orchestration on the next album (praying there's one), without his influence. I hope there's an album too! Carlos was a little bit of a prat, but his style is sweet! It'll take a while before we hear anything new though! :(
June 3, 201115 yr my rankings 1. Antics 2. Turn on the Bright Lights 3. Our Love To Admire 4. S/T but they're all great albums. good musicians will almost always make good music and interpol is testament to that motto. an australian radio station interviewed carlos a few years back and he was extremely rude and unresponsive.
June 3, 201115 yr Carlos always seems like a dick. I should try to get into their latest album a little more before I see them.
June 3, 201115 yr ^ They actually don't play too much off the latest album. Maybe 5 tracks. Their sets are still pretty TOTBL-heavy, which is what most people want to hear.
June 3, 201115 yr Fuck! I'm missing another band that I want to see live. Same order here. Have you seen Carlos' crazy video? I think I'm the only Interpol fan who was not a Carlos fan. I appreciate his musicianship, but found him arrogant & annoying. I am really interested to see if they will back off the orchestration on the next album (praying there's one), without his influence. No I haven't seen it, eventhough he is a ****, he's really talented, I love Interpol basslines.
July 11, 201114 yr Saw them opening for U2 on Saturday night. They were really good although the crowd wasn't really into them at all. Here is what they played. Success Say Hello To The Angels Narc The Heinrich Maneuver C'Mere Barricade Lights Obstacle 1 Evil Slow Hands
July 14, 201114 yr Me neither. It's definitely made for a live setting. Don't know why they've completely stopped playing PDA.
July 14, 201114 yr they played the same setlist in Toronto. I was pretty disappointed they didn't play PDA... I agree with you Briggins, as good as they are, crowd doesn't really know who they are too well, even though I was wearing my Interpol shit and singing every song! :) Sound was somewhat off too, their new bass player still needs to get into it, kinda miss Carlos in regards to that
July 14, 201114 yr Yeah I really wish they still did PDA, my favourite Interpol song. Was really happy to hear C'Mere though. Love that track.
July 24, 201114 yr Lights didn't really click for me until I saw it live. me too! I actually saw this song live before the album dropped so, I had an appreciation for it from the get go.... BUT as they toured on... so them a few more times since then, after the record dropped, and I love the song even more live! I guess they switched it up since they added Specialist to the mix.... I was just happy to FINALLY hear The New live... :) I want them to come back and do a secret show in NY... that was mega!!
June 5, 201412 yr I just received this email from them: "Hello Friends, It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally ready to share some new album news. We’d like to announce the release of our upcoming new album, El Pintor. We wrote & recorded the bulk of the album in 2013 in NYC and finished mixing it in London during the early part of this year. We’re very excited to share the album with all of you. The album was recorded at Electric Lady Studios & Atomic Sound by Mr. James Brown and mixed by Mr. Alan Moulder at Assault & Battery studios. We had a lot of fun making this record and can’t wait for you to hear it. The album will be released on September 9th in North America and September 8th in all other territories. You can pre-order the album here. We also took the opportunity to capture some background film footage of the recording of the album. A first in our history. You can view a clip here. All the best, Interpol" More from Wikipedia: El Pintor is the fifth studio album by American rock band Interpol. It will be released on September 8, 2014 internationally and on September 9, 2014 in North America, through Matador Records. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios and Atomic Sound in New York City, the album was engineered by James Brown and mixed by Alan Moulder, who is known for his production and mixing work for My Bloody Valentine and Nine Inch Nails. The album title, which means "the painter" in Spanish, is an anagram of Interpol. It is the band's first album without the bassist Carlos Dengler, who departed the band after the release of the band's eponymous album in 2010. The bass duties on the album were taken by frontman Paul Banks. The album features guest appearances by Brandon Curtis of Secret Machines, Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. and Rob Moose of Bon Iver. The band will be embarking a summer tour in accompaniment with the album. Track listing: All tracks written by Interpol. 1. All the Rage Back Home 2. My Desire 3. Anywhere 4. Same Town, New Story 5.
