Turn on the Bright Lights is one of the best albums of this decade. I love it.

I totally agree!

I agree as well. They've never beaten it.

Listening to NYC again right now, haven't done so in ages. It's bliss.

^^

I love Turn on.....but i have a thing for Antics. i think it had more of a straight forward post punk sound to it and thats more my thing.

Paul Banks Sheds More Light on New Interpol LP, Says to Get Set for “Some Really Classical Stuff”

12/17/2009

By now, Interpol fans know a new album is just around the corner in 2010. But what they may not know is that the New Yorkers are getting set to unload what they call “crazy, sophisticated orchestration” and “some really classical stuff.”

In a new interview with BBC 6 Music, front-man Paul Banks revealed this new classical-leaning direction, saying fans can expect "elegant orchestral" sounds on the follow-up to 2007's Our Love to Admire, mostly thanks to bassist Carlos Dengler.

"Carlos has gone to total new levels of crazy, sophisticated orchestration," Banks said of the upcoming, as-yet-untitled new record. "There's some really classical stuff going on. I think he brings that elegant orchestral quality and he's gone even further with that."

Banks went on to say Interpol are really stretching their creative wings, adding that fans should brace themselves for departures. "It's very atmospheric, but it sounds really different, in my mind,” he said. “What we've worked on is a real step forward and just very different and very relaxed in what we're doing, but it certainly doesn't sound like anything we've ever done before, to me."

Of course, this comment stands in stark contrast to what drummer Sam Fogarino recently told Paste, when he said that the new record would mark a return to the sound of their 2002 debut, Turn on the Bright Lights.

Voicing his disagreement, Banks said: "I heard that. I don't even know what he's talking about. Maybe [guitarist] Daniel [Kessler]'s progressions remind him of the first record. I don't know. The only thing that makes sense about that comment, to me, is in Sam's drums; they sound really mean, and really good."

As of yet there is still no firm release date for Interpol’s upcoming full-length.

Is this good news? I'm all for new directions of course and I hope they pull it off, but I didn't really enjoy the classical based stuff on OLTA. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

The Interpol page or the actual download page? Maybe you can use my link? click (no idea if it works for other ips though)

I'm gonna listen now.

its a different sound for them.. its not even like a song to me.. its more like a giant interlude.. but I'm diggin it :D love the way Sammy sounds... its like old school Sammy back there.. but in the forefront its a whole new evolvement. :) can't wait for the album to drop...

I need to listen to this a few more times. New music overload for me tonight.

they have been very hush hush about their new release.

I have zero idea on when it is getting released or anything! :(

I want it!!

i think part of the reason might be because they might not to be done yet or they might actually be waiting on the release dates of a couple of others albums to avoid any clashes.
