Professor Peedston
A month later, here are my Top 10: 1. Brian Wilson - Smile - Quite literally one of the best albums ever recorded. The old guy finally finishes his true masterpiece. We can both die happy now. 2. Bjork - Medulla - Time and time again, Bjork proves herself to be one of the most creative songwriters and producers in the world. Who else could make an a capella album that gets classified as "electronic?" 3. Air - Talkie Walkie - Soooothing. 4. Liars - They Were Wrong So We Drowned - Beauty from chaos. 5. Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans - Few people can make me tolerate songs about Jesus like Sufjan can. 6. Stereolab - Margerine Eclipse - Ten albums and these guys have barely lost a step. 7. Zero 7 - When it Falls - By far the sexiest album of 2004. 8. Cyann and Ben - Happy Like an Autumn Tree - Not an essential addition to the genre of psychedelic pop, but damn good nonetheless. 9. The Beta Band - Heroes to Zeroes - I, for one, will be sad to see these guys break up. 10. Fly Pan Am - N'Ecoutez Pas - Experimental in the truest sense of the word. Eleven instrumental tracks ranging from free form rhythm-less tones to concentrated rugged rock tunes, and more. Good stuff. Also good: Elliott Smith - From a Basement on the Hill Fragile State - Voices From the Dust Bowl Wilco - A Ghost is Born The Polyphonic Spree - Together We're Heavy Mum - Summer Make Good Espers - Espers

Either that or you had a much more extreme knee-jerk reaction to the Killers and their ilk than I did.
