May 17, 200620 yr BONO ARRIVES IN AFRICA Rock activist BONO began a ten-day tour of Africa today (16MAY06), where he plans to examine the achievements of his Make Poverty History campaign. The U2 frontman intends to highlight the progress the continent is making in the treatment of HIV and AIDS as well as unveiling new plans to unite developing nation Lesotho's textile industry with US clothing giant Gap, to allow citizens to work their way out of poverty. The Apparel Lesotho Alliance to Fight AIDS (ALAFA) project will give textile workers free and unlimited access to drug therapy and HIV/AIDS treatment. Arriving in Lesotho capital Maseru, Bono said, "In a small African country the three issues - debt, aid and trade - come together in an unholy trinity. "It's an important moment because what you see here and the reason why we have people with us, we're attempting to gang up on the continent's problems from many angles. It's a swarm of bees." JAMIE DRUMMOND, executive director of Bono's advocacy group Debt Aids Trade Africa (DATA), says, "We're going to look at foreign assistance working on the ground in Africa and see what is working and what is not. "Effective aid backing good African leadership can get results, so let's do more of it. Why would you not do more of it? "The timing of this is extremely important, not just because you can see all the results on the ground, but because at this very moment top policymakers in all of the G8 countries are looking at whether they can afford to keep their promises - whether in Germany, Canada, Italy, or France, and above all in the US Congress." Gap has also pledged 50 per cent of profits from the sale of products launched in conjunction with Bono's RED initiative, to Africa's AIDS fund. may 16, 2006 What a great man
May 18, 200620 yr Heh, I have the Santiago concert on DVD. Amazing stuff, definately. I've still got a crazy fetish with ZooTV.... :uhoh: omg santiago concert, feb 11th 1998... :D at 5 minutes from my house :nice:
May 18, 200620 yr bono...for sure!!! of course U2 is my favorite band EVER, so I'm partial, but Stipe is kinda loony sometimes, but he's still cool and i like R.E.M.'s music too! As for Radiohead, they are aight, but someone made the good point that you pretty much only here about them on forums like this...OH and not very many people have heard creep and karma police..most people look at me like im crazy if i talk about most radiohead songs, so i guess its all relative to what you like and where you hang out online :laugh3:
May 18, 200620 yr Have you met him? Bono that is' date=' I don't care for Michael Stipe.....[/quote'] Well, I guess I couldn't say that I've very personally met him. I actually chickened out saying anything to him. I did stand 2 feet from him (basically right next to him) while he signed for other people, just watching him interact. It was the most beautiful thing to see people and him so happy. :nice: I almost grabbed him and freaked out, but I thought it would ruin the moment. He smiled at me during the concert though (was front row) and... yeah. So I feel like I've met him, even though he hasn't REALLY said hello to me. haha.
May 19, 200620 yr Well' date=' I guess I couldn't say that I've very personally met him. I actually chickened out saying anything to him. Look at the freaky stalker in the back ground with the red eyes. . . He is Australian from memory. Bono is so much cooler than Michael Stipe.
May 19, 200620 yr Hi U2 Fans ... just stopping by , thought I'd post an upload Hasta La Vista Baby! / MP3@192kbps / Zipped http://rapidshare.de/files/20773364/2000-H..._Baby_.rar.html
May 19, 200620 yr If any U2 fans don't have the Hasta La Vista Baby! songs I highly recommend downloading it. It is sooooo good!
May 21, 200620 yr STIPE BITCHES bono - whatever, the only song i've ever liked is 'sunday bloody sunday.' i'm not slamming him or anything but i prefer stipe anyday. and as for radiohead, they're an amazing band. popularity doesn't equal quality. so just becuase they aren't as recognizable world-wide as let's say, God fucking Almighty, they're still brilliantly good. i love coldplay, but i think they're a little "overrated" myself
May 21, 200620 yr Hasta La Vista is AMAZING' date=' one of my favorite boots of all time.[/quote'] I agree. Danielle do you have alot of boots? DVDs and stuff?
May 21, 200620 yr yeppers! If any U2 fans don't have the Hasta La Vista Baby! songs I highly recommend downloading it. It is sooooo good! Yeah, I got this boot with The Complete U2 that came with the U2 special edition iPod. Over 400 plus songs came with that. I have alot of unreleased and rare that came with it along with the early demos ( like street missions etc). :D
May 22, 200620 yr I got the U2 iPod, but didn't get the Complete U2 package, since I already had all their albums by the time I got the player. I ended up buying most of the unreleased stuff, and downloading a lot of the others off of Interference anyways. I agree. Danielle do you have alot of boots? DVDs and stuff? I have a fair amount, yeah. I basically upload anything that I don't have whenever I find it, so I have a slightly disturbing amount of U2 bootlegs on my ipod.... :stunned:  I don't have that many DVDs, I have 2 ZooTV ones, I have their Rock 'N Roll Hall Of Fame Induction, the Under The Brooklyn Bridge performance and the Santiago Popmart show. I neeeeed more ZooTV, and I don't even have Under A Blood Red Sky. I've only seen about half of it.... I'm such a bad fan, I know. My next trip to NYC in June will be spent buying more bootleg DVDs... LMFAO!
May 22, 200620 yr Yeah' date=' I got this boot with The Complete U2 that came with the U2 special edition iPod. Over 400 plus songs came with that. I have alot of unreleased and rare that came with it along with the early demos ( like street missions etc). :D[/quote'] I love street mission! Especially the video of them on a Dublin TV show way back when.
May 22, 200620 yr I think Street Mission is probably the worst song they've ever done.... ever. :uhoh: And for that reason, I kind of love it. LMFAO! It's just so dated and baby-U2ish and crappy. It's obvious Edge and Adam barely knew how to play and Bono couldn't control his voice. I love their early demos, interesting stuff.
May 22, 200620 yr Haha, I actually love it. It is just so cathcy and the Edge has a wicked sweet guitar solo at the end. I love it!
