Guest LiquidSky
this is what the other mb said Originally posted by Bona_Vox well here is the first part... hope u understand it... english is not my mother lenguage u know.. Well, the past is represented by the sea, and the love of the mermaid is part of that past.. like those relationships that once had to shipwreck, and the tide removes afloat the rest of it with punity.... ad old love that still makes u scratch the walls. The songs says: “The sea it swells like a sore head and the night it is aching”... so this kind of past-sea beats, surviving, being melancholic, and brings us waves of memories that twist our souls, that makes us want to get into it again and want to rescue the better of it.. most of the times that´s not possible, but when we do it, the result is not what we expected.. Anton corbjin does the photograpy in this video, and it´s great.. he proyects a look of larry too damn sexy (something almost impossible:P) and changes the classic look of a mermaid with long hair. The video calibrates it´s intensive vission along with the development of the song..” Two lovers lie with no sheets on their bed”.. and corbjim shows a couple lliying on the rocks without anything without touching themselves.. bono ends up singning: “Well if the sky can crack there must be someway back to love and only love”.. and the video shows some fireworks breaking the night that came from the mermaid´s own body.. adn then the director records with total gentleness the back of the mermaid being consumed, because that´s where the love brings: to the agony.. Jacob
Okay everybody, what are your fave U2 lyrics? Mine are the lyrics to Zooropa, from the album..... Zooropa! Zooropa, Vorsprung durch Technik. Zooropa, be all that you can be. Be a winner, eat to get slimmer. Zooropa, a bluer kind of white Zooropa, it could be yours tonight. We're mild and green and squeaky clean. Zooropa, better by design Zooropa, fly the friendly skies. Through the appliance of science We've got that ring of confidence. And I have no compass And I have no map And I have no reasons No reasons to get back. And I have no religion And I don't know what's what And I don't know the limit The limit of what we got. Zooropa, don't worry baby, it'll be alright. Zooropa, you've got the right shoes Zooropa, to get you through the night. Zooropa, it's cold outside, but brightly lit Zooropa, let's skip the subway, Zooropa, let's go to the overground. Get your head out of the mud baby Put flowers in the mud baby, overground. No particular place names No particular song I've been hiding What am I hiding from? Zooropa, don't worry, baby, it's gonna be alright Zooropa, uncertainty can be a guiding light. Zooropa, I hear voices, ridiculous voices Zooropa, in the slipstream. Zooropa, let's go, let's go overground. Zooropa, take your head out of the mud, baby. She's gonna dream up the world she wants to live in She's gonna dream out loud, she's gonna dream out loud, She's gonna dream out loud, dream out loud. ShibbNani
STAY. Most definetely. It's the first song to ever make me cry just due to the lyrics... [and the second being "Amsterdam"..] Green light, Seven Eleven You stop in for a pack of cigarettes You don't smoke, don't even want to Hey now, check your change Dressed up like a car crash Your wheels are turning but you're upside down You say when he hits you, you don't mind Because when he hurts you, you feel alive Oh now, is that what it is? Red light, gray morning You stumble out of a hole in the ground A vampire or a victim It depends on who's around You used to stay in to watch the adverts You could lip synch to the talk show hosts And if you look, you look through me And when you talk, you talk at me And when I touch you, you don't feel a thing If I could stay... then the night would give you up Stay... and the day would keep its trust Stay... and the night would be enough Faraway, so close Up with the static and the radio With satellite television You can go anywhere Miami, New Orleans London, Belfast and Berlin And if you listen I can't call And if you jump, you just might fall And if you shout, I'll only hear you If I could stay... then the night would give you up Stay... then the day would keep its trust Stay... with the demons you drowned Stay... with the spirit (that) I've found Stay... and the night would be enough Three o'clock in the morning It's quiet and there's no one around Just the bang and the clatter As an angel runs to ground Just the bang And the clatter As an angel Hits the ground
Jacob
hey, nice signiture! Yea, Stay is a great song. That's the one that really got me hooked on u2. When I was seven I heard U2 for the first time, the first song I ever heard was I still haven't found what I'm looking for, and I didn't even know it was them until eight years later haha. I change my mind....... RUNNING TO STAND STILL is the best U2 song ever made. And so she woke up woke up from where she was lying still said we've got to do something about where we're going step on a steam train step out of driving rain maybe run from the darkness in the night singing halalala da-day halalala da-day sweet the sin but bitter the taste in my mouth I see seven towers but I only see one way out you've got cry without weeping talk without speeking scream without raising your voice you know I took the poison from the poison stream and I floated out of here singing halalala da-day halalala da-day she runs through the streets with her eyes painted red under a black belly of cloud in the rain in through a doorway she brings me white golden pearls stolen from the sea she's raging, she's raging and the storm blows up in her eyes she will suffer the needle chill she's running to stand still
ShibbNani
The whole "Joshua Tree" is awsome.... I think the first one I ever heard was "Where the Streets Have No Name"...... BTW, have you ever noticed that "The First Time" sounds a lot like "Running to Stand Still" ?....hmmm....
Jacob
yea. sort of. Bad sounds a lot like Running To Stand Still too. Like, the way that the song builds up to a climax. The First Time, I love that song! Everything on Zooropa is good. That is such and underated U2 cd right there. I like it just as much as The Joshua Tree. My favorites by U2 are Running To Stand Still, The First Time, Where The Streets Have No Name, Red Hill Mining Town, A Sort Of Homecoming, New Years Day, Walk On....... there are too many. ShibbNani
Speaking of underated....does anyone else like Pop? It's a great album, really....despite "Miami"
Jacob
Pop was good. I LOVE the song Starring At The Sun.
ShibbNani
Have you seen the video for it? Odd.
Jacob
nice avator! Yea, I saw the video. Pop was a good cd but, it wasn't U2's best. I thought that All The You Can't Leave Behind was a great cd to followup Pop with. The best U2 album is either The Joshua Tree, Zooropa, or War. ShibbNani
Joshua Tree, definetely. Although, Achtung Baby was really good... Man, I must have avatar ADD or something...now I have the urge to put another one up..hmm...
Jacob
haha. The Joshua Tree, everybody says that's the best U2 album. Achtung Baby! was great too. Zoo Station, and Until The End Of The World are my faves off that one, oh yea, how could I forget about ONE! I'm listening to Stay (Faraway So Close) right now by coincidence. They new cd is supposed to be more like rock than the stuff U2 has been putting out lately. Well, they are working with the producer of The Beatles, so, I guess should be alrite. ShibbNani
I hope so. When I read an interview of theirs that said it was really "back to the basics guitar rock", I was a little afraid. I mean, can you imagine Edge pulling off some kind of White Stripes thing? Scary. Interesting, but scary.
