August 1, 201015 yr I want to see them agaaaaaaaaaain so badly. It's been almost three years. :blank: So I put LP3 on my iPod to listen to while I was away this week, but somehow I only managed to listen to the first 6-7 songs. Wasn't even close to being blown away (in other words, not really impressed), so I'm gonna get the album tomorrow and give it proper attention. I'm afraid it'll disappoint me.
August 1, 201015 yr Do you think they'd still do some touring in late 2011? Or usually bands stop touring after one year of touring for a new album? I need some glimpse of hope of ever seeing them :(

August 2, 201015 yr I must say I didn't loved the album at first, I though it was cool but a big long, but now I like it so much, I think it's almost perfect. I love the strings and the lyrics and everything about it. My favorite today is Sprawl II but it changes everyday because every time I listen to the album I find awesome new things about it
August 2, 201015 yr http://www.metacritic.com/music/artists/arcadefire/thesuburbs after 15 reviews the album is averaging a score of 86 out of 100. funeral averaged 90 after 33 reviews. and neon bible got 87 out of 100 from 46 reviews. the big one im waiting for is the pitchfork review.
August 2, 201015 yr Pitchfork......................... gives it an 8.6! Best New Music! Nice bastards for once. http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14516-the-suburbs/ Hmm Neon Bible got a 8.4...... Eddie......
August 2, 201015 yr Nice bastards for once. Oh no, Arcade Fire are one of those bands they love. Which sucks really...I hate Pitchfork... ahhh fuck them

Eddie...... was really hoping they would give it something closer to 9. but an 8.6 at least keeps arcade fire in that esteemed group of bands who have maintained critical success over several commercially successful albums.
August 2, 201015 yr Hm. High Violet got a higher mark (slightly but still).. Gonna pick my album cover today. Anything but the regular one will do. Actually, on second thought, I think I'mma pick a back cover. :D We used to have a car like the one on the front cover. It broke down all the time. :disappointed: was really hoping they would give it something closer to 9. but an 8.6 at least keeps arcade fire in that esteemed group of bands who have maintained critical success over several commercially successful albums.Jolly. Numbers, numbers, numbers. :blank:
August 2, 201015 yr so i get the suburbs tomorrow, i cant believe i held out so long, now i need to learn all the lyrics by the 5th hehehe
August 2, 201015 yr This probably isn't worth reading, I just wanted to type out my excited thoughts i.e. it's shamefully indulgent and, most likely, erroneous. My first full listen to the album. i.e. the always deceptive first impressions: Fucking wow, so brilliant. In every category it seems to blow past the flaws in previous albums (some of what were elucidated in the pitchfork review). Obviously it's a completely different animal with a distinctly different approach. The arrangement of the songs (and album as a whole) feels ultimately much richer than the transparent feel of much of Neon Bible (Intervention, black wave, ocean of noise etc.). Off the back they start from a much lower hill and build up, instead of bombarding the listener with BIG songs that become less satisfying with repetition. And instrumentally the songs are more cohesive, instead of the strange jerking around between extremely varietous sounds. This obviously runs the risk of being boring, and I feel like the accomplishment of this album is that how the exquisite string, guitar and chord arrangements prevent it from being so. The first 5 tracks is an unbelieveably orgasmic rendezvous. Can't emphasize that enough, it's just an incredible feat of music making. From there it settles down gradually. I love the halflight stretch, but the only time where I felt uncertain was from Suburban War to Deep Blue. I still haven't completely warmed up to Month of May, but even the less interesting songs on this album, IMO, are more satisfying than some of the lighter songs off of Funeral (Une Annee, Kettles, Crown of Love). The appeal of this album is in its consistency, there is really no 'No Cars Go' on this album, it's a much more intimate affair. Obviously its explosive at times as well, but when the intensity does come up, you feel included in the spirit of the song, while listeners had a much more distant, observer relation to almost all the song plotlines on Neon Bible. Lyrics and emotion are richer and more articulately expressed in this album, though becoming more complicated in the transition. Neon Bible feels more like a compilation of songs compared to the gradual holistic building of The Suburbs. To borrow a cliche it's too difficult to compare side by side. The singles from the Suburbs won't be nearly as successful as Keep the Car Running or Wake Up, but I think it's a much better album than Neon Bible, and at the moment, it's my unobjective fave of all three (but give me a break I'm still on my first full listen cloud [though I've listened to most of the album via you-tube in past weeks]).
August 2, 201015 yr I got this cover Is it just me or is that a bit cheeky having 8 covers, so that the super-fans whom must have everything has to buy the album 8 times to get all 8 covers?
August 2, 201015 yr I don't see how you would get all eight covers, even if you're an obsessive fan. They are too much alike and frankly not all that great (except for the car). If you're going to spend money on Arcade Fire buy more concert tickets or something. :dozey: I got this one: And listening at the moment. :nice: Oh, I spent 18 euros on that damn disc by teh way. Supporting indie record stores and stuff. It better be freaking mindblowing. :whip:
August 2, 201015 yr I'm going to try to get The Suburbs tomorrow when it comes out. I hate how the US always gets the albums later. :\
August 2, 201015 yr I don't even think they'll sell the album here  I can't even find Funeral or Neon Bible
August 2, 201015 yr I went to a music store two days ago and saw both Funeral and Neon Bible, I was so surprised!
August 2, 201015 yr Every music store that takes itself seriously should have all Arcade Fire albums available (ep = extra points).
August 2, 201015 yr I really don't understand how it could be better than Neon Bible. There's no way.
