I have been really into 'Some Cities' lately, It's just consistently brilliant from start to end. I think the Doves are really maturing with each album.

 

Anyone heard the Acoustic Version of 'Winter Hill' - it's AMAZING. A million times better than the album version. Really impressive.

I was just wondering if any of you listen to The Doves. This is a fantastic band from Britian and their album came out right around the same time as Coldplay's Parachutes did. They didn't seem to get as popular as Coldplay and I have always wondered why because they are just as talented.

 

I enjoy The Dove's...I would have to say my fav song is "firesuite"...I think that The Dove's didn't get a lot of love as Coldplay because the video for "yellow" got a lot of publicity on MTV and was insta-hit and was probably their safe song on the album...

 

I don't think the Dove's had a "homerun" on that album that came out around the same time of Parachutes.

I agree with you. Unfortunately I didn't find the acousic version of Winter Hill :\ I only listened to the acoustic version of The Greatest Denier.

A Doves thread! How did I miss this?! :stunned:

I've been absolutely in love with their stuff since December last year. I saw them in Manchester with my parents (my Dad's also a big fan), but other than the Kingdom Of Rust album I hadn't given a lot of their older stuff much of a chance, apart from the best-known singles. Since the concert though I can't stop listening to all of it.

I can't wait for their greatest hits album in April, there are a few new remixes on there and a couple of brand new songs as well, plus some of their music videos. It looks like a really good collection. :D

Saw a message on the Doves Facebook page, and it seems there is a Doves covers album being released to raise money for the teenage cancer trust. There has been a teaser track released, 'Ambition' by Modeon.

 

It has over 2000 downloads already, and it's all free, you're just urged to make a donation when the full album is out.

Aw, I got into Doves around the same time me as into Coldplay in 2001/02. The Last Broadcast is still one of my fave albums ever.

 

Even though I was a bit miffed when they let us in the audience wait for nearly three hours at a concert in Cologne once. They eventually emerged. :D
