How long does it take 4 tickets to arrive in the mail?

it depends which option you chose. if you chose "mail" as in normal mail, that will take a bit longer. i chose registered post (which takes up to 10 days) but i got mine today. the other one was express post which is like 3 days. so it depends which option. don't freak out just yet.

ai and bonnie, youth group are an aussie band. the bassist pattrick matthews is the bassist from the vines. youth group are actually an awesome band, debs signed them to the label last year or so (that's what she said on the site) and apparently the band requested them too. you'd love their stuff it's excellent and i'm happy they're the support band for the cp concerts.

bonnie i got my tix in the mail today for the second night, i'm so excited, you have to let me know when you get your tix so i can stop stressing because i still have a funny feeling about your tickets.

and sam it's a shame to hear you couldn't get tickets  the 3rd show will be on sale soon. at least if you could get silver tickets?

3rd show?

^ lol yes. and are u a member of coldplay.com? if u are u could go for pre-sale to aviod stress. but only if ur already a member or they wont let u... (NOW they decide to do that  )

yeah well that site went all retarted on me.

i know aye, ONLY now that they realised pre-sale fucked over last time

Hello! Newbie alert! Being a newbie sucks-oh well, i'm sure i'll get over it. I just got the password for the presale tickets for Wednesday's concert in Sydney, as I tried to get tickets to the first and second concerts but i couldn't manage to and i was angsty all week  but then they announced a third concert and i was all happy! So can you tell me what happened that made the presale tickets for Monday and Tuesdays concerts fuck up? Thanks-plz be nice to this newbie!!

hey there liz :) don't worry we don't eat the newbies around here  anyone is welcome here ;)

it's a shame you couldn't get tickets for the 1st or 2nd show! i hope you get some for the 3rd show :)

well for the first concert right, they were like "HURRY UP AND SIGN UP AT COLDPLAY.COM IF YOU WANT PRE-SALE TICKETS" so like random people would sign up and there was an overload, which meant that they had to randomly allocate tickets. the probs with that, is that you can't ensure all the hardcore deserving fans get tickets.

also, people would give the password and link to others once they got the email, or buy more tickets than they were supposed to. which meant many people who were supposed to get pre-sale didn't even get the tickets they were supposed to! this is what happened with jess on this forum. so yeah i think the pre-sale system was very screwed over (to say the least) and we were all very tense, nervous and pissy here during ticket buying time.

at least for this 3rd show, they're only allowing members who are ALREADY members at coldplay.com to apply for pre-sale, and aren't some idiots who want to go for the sake of going.

:)

RetarTed?? Would you care to explain?? :P

bonnie, i can sense your disappointment, but the reality is there is no foolproof way to ensure only "hardcore" fans get tickets. I know i may sound like I'm being mean, but i'm just putting up another perspective.

We were lucky to get a pre-sale at all - they didn't have to do it. Besides, how exactly does one determine who is more deserving than another? Length of being a member of coldplay.com? Well, somebody could have been a member since 2000, never even listened to Rush of blood or X & Y, never heard of gravity or see you soon, yet be classified a more deserving fan than somebody who registered in 2004 yet has every album/single, the live 2003 DVD on virtual repeat and countless bootlegs because they have been registereed longer. How do you differentiate?

As far as the overload, it's quiet possible that before the 'random' people signed up that there was already too much demand among the already registered fans. Just food for thought.

Look, i largely agree with you - it makes sense and seems fair that those that are classified as the 'real' fans get tickets. But the problem is, to the promoter, to most bands - it's about bums on seats. Their goal - sell out the arena.

Another thing that I'd like to say is that new fans have just as much right to see the band as old fans. And in some ways, the whole idea of touring is to increase the fan base and to promote the album to new fans and old fans alike. Besides, I know, personally, that even if i didn't get tickets to any Aus shows, that i'd still love Coldplay's music and still keep listening/buying - some other fans want coldplay for what they are now and that's okay too. Everyone has the right to purchase tickets (hey, that should be added to the international declaration of human rights, don’t you think? :) .

BTW, I think saying "some idiots who want to go for the sake of going" is really harsh- I don't know about you, but as far as I'm concerned i want as many people as possible to hear coldplay's music and to share the love and joy they give to the world. Just because we consider ourselves to be hardcore fans does not mean we are above anybody else. If somebody is going just to listen to 'Yellow' and 'Clocks', then that's their choice. It's their right to buy tickets. I believe in equality, and while it's my desire to see all the fans pleased, this isn't always going to happen.

At this point, I'd like to declare that my girlfriend is coming with me to the first Brisbane concert, and... well.....she's not a 'hardcore' fan - she listens to all the albums, but she's not hardcore. If i said to her "i'm gonna buy a gun and start a war" she'd probably think i was going to become a terrorist. However, she's coming because she wants the experience and likes the music.. she sees how much i love them and she wants to see them live too. And as far as i'm concerned, her and thousands of other casual fans have a right to see them live as well. I took her to Splendour in the Grass this year, and she wasn’t that keen on seeing moby, but she fell in love with him live. Live music is for everyone mate.

As far as the link sharing and excess ticket buying was concerned, i agree with you - slack. That's probably where the problem lies in this. And by the way, I do feel for all the fans who missed out. I legitimately feel sorry for them - but by the looks of it everybody gets a second (or third or fourth!) chance soon! Listen, if i can give a bit of advice that isn't always possible on a school/work day -but if you can, get to a computer with Broadband and try for dear life on both the presale and the general sale! Don't wait - they will go!!! And if you want to be sure, go to visa preferred seating now and buy them. Or else it may have to be ebay...

Jess's situation is a tough one - but you can't just to conclusions and assume that her not being able to get GAs was the fault of people sharing/ over purchasing. The truth of the matter is, there was only a limited of number of GAS available, and nowhere in the email did it guarantee GAs (it didn’t guarantee any tickets – just an opportunity).. Reading back through this thread, again I feel for Jess and yes the guy who posted the email was in the wrong. But i think they would have went quickly anyway. I know that i was on there at 12 on the dot to get mine. Jess's situation is crap - but maybe it's a good lesson next time to get in early (i'm not having a go a you Jess btw - just presenting an unfortunate reality of the internet age).

Well, I know I’m probably going to get flamed for this post, but I assume you I’m saying this not out of malice but just to present another opinion. I want everybody on here to get the tickets they want and to have a ball in June/July next year!!! Best of luck everybody in the presales and general sales – have some faith!!! :)

Phil

^Wow! That was some diatribe!! :stunned: Ever considered getting into politics?? :P

thanks for that phil, and no i'm not going to flame you because i'm not going to be an ignorant bitch  i agree with everything you said actually. generally if i'm talking about coldplay pre-sales i get a bit peeved. and then i rant. and then i get extremely pissed and i don't consider everything properley.

so thanks for pointing everything out, it's true there's no foolproof way to ensure anything at all, and yeah we were lucky to get a pre-sale in the first place.

no hard feelings.

lol i dont care for logical thinking. i got pissed off and i dont care why :P

  • Author

 that's what i did at first ;) but i do appreciate what phil has said.

yeah, all of what he said went thru my head too. but, if i hadnt got tickets then would i have really cared about any of that? noooo

Hey wow-i so wish I thought that optimistically all the time!! I'm such a pessimist and I have to agree that all I did was mope around when I didn't get the tickets for the first two concerts and curse all the people who got them who aren't as hardcore-but hopefully i'll get them tomorrow *fingers crossed* thanks for the heads up Bonnie and Phil! :)
