I kind of have to agree with the guys here, even if Reilly is just trying to be the silly pest he is. The general level of intelligence on display in this particular section of the forum has taken a nosedive lately, and I’m not talking about compared to the good old days; I wasn’t around then. I’m talking about within the last 2 or 3 months. I just recently had to stop really even checking this section it’s gotten so bad, which is really annoying because this is where I’ve traditionally spent most of my time.

 

Slash and obsessive fan girls go with the territory, I can live with that, but there are limits. Anything that inspires fandom will often be judged by their die-hard fans, and we’re really not making a very good impression at the moment.

 

I spent most of high school not really liking any music because all I heard when I turned on the radio was Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Nsync, Spice Girls, ect, and I couldn’t stand going to a friend’s house and seeing their room completely plastered with Justin Timberlake. Then I heard Coldplay. They were totally different. For one thing, they were really respected as artists. For another, they didn’t have their faces plastered all over the cover of their albums saying “Buy me! I’m cute!” The music could stand on it’s own. Yeah, they’re good looking, but that really doesn’t matter with them.

 

What a difference a couple of years and an album makes… there really seems to be people who treat them as the new Backstreet Boys or something. Maybe its because when pop music shifted to embrace them, it brought a more teeny-bopperish crowd with it, but I don’t have to like that. I hate talking to music geeks at school who are like “I used to like Coldplay, but now they’re just a pop band”, and it’s something that’s happening more and more. I have no problem with being a fangirl groupie, because I am one, but there are those here who are starting to make it embarrassing, and standing up for my favorite band’s artistic integrity gets tough when the other fans who ought to be backing me up on this are more interested in who has the best tongue. (ew!)

 

Come on ladies, pull yourselves together. Show a bit of dignity for the boy’s sake. People like to accuse men of thinking with their balls, but if some of what I’ve seen in here is anything to go by, the women don’t seem to be any better. There was a time when perverted was an insult, not a compliment. I’m not pointing any fingers, I’m just saying it’s possible to talk about more in here than Guy’s ass, even if music talk does belong in the album forum.

 

We can’t change culture at large, but we can choose how we represent the band on the net. People outside of the regular group who post here do notice, I assure you.

Even if i'm a mod i'm still entitle to my own opinion about anything, i agree with what reilly said, not agree with the insults but what he had a point. And i'm pretty sure he would've posted some similar thread if the lounge was full of lame threads as well but hey he actually did when that section of the board was infested with game and name threads and finally we're seeing some change.

in 2 hours, during which i was gone, this thread became huge. and i still don't get why i and the rest of the girls/boys that come mainly here need to tell anyone why we come here. for god sake i didn't just bump into this website randomly and decided to stick around since there are some NICE pics..

FYI- i've been a fan since 11, from the pure start, and you know what i adored them even though i didnt know ANY of their names or pics. this board came just as something pararel to everything, i came here for more informations and got them, but that came 1 ago, and i don't think Coldplay exsists just from 2005.
