Like you said about the inside jokes and not knowing people, that's the way I feel if I go into the lounge. I rarely post in there. When I have, some people have been not so nice. Others have told me to ignore it because they are "being an ass" or " you just gotta know them" well I don't know them and I'm not sure I want to. I didn't come here to have my own thead. I've never seen any rules about you aren't allowed to talk to each other, only discuss the topic at hand, that would just be boring as all get out. I can google search for pics if all I want is pics. I like talking to the people on here.

Believe me, I know what you mean. I'm not much into the Lounge either. I just like to post on the discussion threads that (ironically) Reilly usually makes. :lol: I don't visit the dedication threads because I'm not particularly close to anyone...

 

My beef isn't with JUST this section. It's really the Coldplay/Lounge dynamic. The people from the Lounge can be pretty cruel. A lot of elitism going on. I don't get that over here. :) I can understand more than anything where you're coming from on that. I just wish everybody on here would give each other one big hug and start using all areas of Coldplaying. I think it'd make everything a lot nicer and more of an internet community. ;)

I've been trying to get into the Lounge lately. And yeah, pretty much all of Reilly's topics are open to everyone, which is nice.

I know what you're saying. Alot of the time, I get that official forum attitude in the Lounge and that's why I came here to start with. I guess it just bothers me that since this thread was started by someone that doesn't spend time in here and doesn't even like the band ( his own admission) and has been visited by people that never come here, and mostly hang out in the Lounge.....well they are preaching at us and calling us unworthy. I don't go into the lounge and start shit with them, cuz that's not my thing.

A LOT of the things said in this thread were very unfair. A lot of Lounge folks passing generalized judgement on Coldplay folks, and very much the vice versa. I was just trying to voice some of my feelings that I've been harboring for the past couple months or so, especially since we started moving forums etc. I kind of go in phases on Coldplaying. For a couple months I'm all Coldplay, then Lounge, then random, etc etc. So I think I understand the dynamics around here a lot.

I can what you are saying. I guess I just had a problem with people that I have never seen post in here.... and I'm here all the time (lame I know) coming in here and passing judgement on us. I'm not talking about you, because I have seen you post in here many times. If this had been started by some one like your self, that I have seen in here often and them not seen for a while, it would effect me differently. You know what I mean, kinda like well here's someone that has spent time here and now doesn't feel comfortable because of things I have done or said. But instead I see peole that are not in here, coming in here and saying what I do is wrong and I don't need someone that doesn't spend any time here telling me what I need to do.

I came here because I loved Coldplay. I stayed here because it was a board full of friendly people who liked good music. I’m staying here for the same reason.

 

It seems judging by the number of pages here that there has been much frustration lately. This thread let people vent it, which is healthy.

 

Therese, (I hope I spelled that right) and anyone who’s post I used as an example, I didn’t mean any offence or to single any person out. I honestly don’t usually notice who starts a thread, because I’m terrible with names. My problem is only with an attitude that has recently been shared by many, so no one person is to blame.

 

It will all be forgotten soon, and we’ll move on, hopefully having learned a few things in the process. Maybe some of those who feel alienated will take this chance to come back, because they are missed.

 

There’s no need for polarization. I lurk around all of the major sections when I have time, and can tell everyone that all of them have fun, thoughtful, interesting people posting in them.

It has been my experience on other messageboards that things said in casual conversation have shown up in quotes in news articles the next day and been spread all over the world. Freaky stuff when it happens. :shocked: :stunned:

The only thing I have seen is the fans that made the birthday signs in DC, that made the DC press.

It happened on a U2 board, I know that. Reporters started talking about how U2 fans rallied together in online forums to support the band after having to postpone their dates.

 

Obviously, they didn't read the whole thread and see all the complaining... :lol: But that's besides the point.

 

 

I don't know about here, but I think that'd be mildly hysterical if it did happen.

It used to happen alot on Lost boards. The poor reporters were so confused by the show they had to turn to what the fans on the message boards were saying to explain the show to them. Which got a little weird.

Most likely, but some reporters seem to have caught on to the whole thing where flamers are more likely to lurk on official boards, so they prefer to go on fan boards instead when they need some juicy spin on things.
