Which is better? Why? Which do you LIKE better? Why? What's your favorite/current favorite song from each album?

 

 

-I like and think that Up The Bracket is over all a better album. I can just constantly listen to it and never once get tired of a certain song. Then again, the same goes for the self titled...... but I don't know how to explain it. Perhaps it's because I listened to Up The Bracket on repeat when I first got into the Libs, it's what made me realize Peter's a genius (as is Carl, but I needed more convincing from Peter ;) ). If it weren't for Up The Bracket, I don't think I'd be typing here.

 

As for favorite songs....

 

Up The Bracket: Time for Heroes//Horror Show (extremely under rated, the chorus is classic!)//I Get Along+What A Waster. As well as EVERYTHING else, but those are my four current "I can't choose!" favorites

 

Libertines: Music When The Lights//Narcissist//The Saga//Likely Lads

 

 

I like how rough Up The Bracket is, too. I think it captures the spirit of the band much better than the Libs. However, the Libs is the perfect all encompassing break up/make up album. Ever. It's as poignant now as it was then. :heart:

It would be the same exact way. You basically took the words outta me. Umm, I first listened to The Libertines, instead of Up The Bracket. See Im sort of a new fan, and I heard the last album first!! I liked them and all, but I didnt feel completely in love with it. What I liked the most was the lyrics. I looooved The Narcissist, I thought it was the truest and funniest song ever!!

 

When I heard Up the Bracket I became widly obsessed with as you said how "rough it is". Its so Libertines!!!(Dunno if that makes sense :uhoh2:) It contains I Get Along and Time for Heroes(which are like my fav songs!!)

Although, Likely Lads in in the Libs...:heart:

Funny, I was on my way back home tonight and was thinking of something I needed to post on this thread :laugh3: (how sad am I?). Now I think about it, it kinda applies to the topic of discussion as well.

 

Well, first step is intro. My name is Andrea and have discovered I've been developing this sexual festish towards every sort of whistling that appears on the self-titled album. And I mean every, really.

 

So I guess that might be one of my unconscious reasons for going for that album. And is this particular day as well. Don't know the reason but I've listened to that album something like 5 times in a row today. Perfect album for driving, and that's a major factor for me. Mind you, this might be changing tomorrow, and most likely will. I'm just saying that tonight, at this specific moment (01.07am on a monday morning) I'm choosing The Libertines.

Favourites songs: 'Last post on the bugle', 'The man who would be king', 'Music when...', 'What Katie did', 'Can't stand me now' and of course, 'What became...'. Oh damn, that was hard.

Yeah but he's had that status for ages hasn't he? I read somewhere that he did have a girlfriend but that was a while ago and I doubt that she stayed after the whole Kate Moss-thing :wink: :laugh3:

Man, I've been thinking about this all day and it's been fucking hard.. But in my mind, 'Up the bracket' wins.

 

I bought the second album before the first and I still love it so extemly much!

This is just my opinion but the melodies and the lyrics are better then on the first album. The whole thing it's more worked through and produced in a more proper way...

But that is the main reason I rather put on 'Up the bracket'. I just love the fact that it isn't perfect, it just feels like Peter want's the shambolic and the chaos.. I get the impression that Carl wants it to sound better, if you compare 'Down in Albion' to 'Waterloo to anywhere' you can really see the difference between the boys musically. When I listen to an album (as much as I love Coldplay) it's the imperfections that I love.

So in my humble opinion 'Up the bracket' is the one, although 'The Libertines' always breaks my heart..

 

Fave songs on 'Up the bracket': Death on the stairs, Time for heroes, Boys in the band, Uo the bracket, Tell the king, The good old days.

Fave songs on 'The Libertines': Can't stand me now, The man who would be king, Music when the lights go out, What Katie did, Tomblands, What became of the likely lads, France.

I have been thinking ALL day and i really cannot come up with an answer. I love different aspects of both of them, and to single one out its just too hard. I guess it all depends on my mood.
