Recovery: Pete Doherty's band, Babyshambles, has postponed some tour dates

 

 

 

Troubled singer Pete Doherty's band Babyshambles has been forced to postpone their UK tour to give the singer more time to recover from drug rehab treatment, his record company said today.

Babyshambles postponed their five remaining dates to allow their front man's "excellent" efforts at overcoming his addiction to continue, said an EMI spokesman.

Doherty has had a number of drug related court appearances this year and last month was receiving drug rehab treatment at the Priory clinic.

Today's announcement comes after the singer reportedly had a "bust-up" with his supermodel girlfriend Kate Moss in the early hours of yesterday after a Babyshambles gig in London.

The couple were later pictured driving away together from her home but by the evening the band's concert in Liverpool had been cancelled.

A further four successive dates from tonight - Glasgow, Nottingham, Manchester and Newcastle - have also been postponed.

An EMI spokesman said: "Babyshambles have made the decision to postpone the remaining five dates of their current UK tour.

"It has become clear that Peter embarked on this arduous and high profile tour too soon after his discharge and still needs time to recover from his extensive rehab treatment.

"Peter asks that he be given the time and space to continue with his excellent effort to recover.

"The band apologises to fans but hope that they will understand the importance of Peter being able to best continue his good progress in recovering from addiction.

"The dates will be rearranged for as soon as possible and all tickets will remain valid."

Last month Doherty, in court on drugs charges, avoided jail after a judge said she was "impressed" with his attempts to beat his addiction.

The singer had pleaded guilty to five counts on possessing heroin, cocaine - of which some was crack cocaine - and cannabis.

But he was allowed to continue his drug treatment and told he would be sentenced in December.

I could never choose overall. I absolutely love both of their voices. I have to admit that right now I'm having a major crush on Carlos' though, especially at the begining of 'The Good Old Days'. But then when Pete kicks in... his voice is just so honest. It's not trying to be beautiful (neither is Carl's, but yeah)... it's not trying to be ANYTHING. He just sings from his heart and gut. I could never choose between them. Together they're just perfect.

 

 

And I must say, Carl's voice in BURMA is just......... oooooof. "Be upstairs ready my angeeeeel" oh my god! pure sex.

But Drew's voice.. Ribtickling is one of my favesong at the moment, I play it on repeat on the way to school, it just makes me so calm and his voice is so beautiful and pure and.. God.

Actually, I don't think she was trying to compare both bands in any sort of way. She was trying to show you what you did about Peter's music, which was judging based on stereotypes or some fucking article, it's the same thing. If you're gonna judge the music, then first give it a listen (and no, a couple of songs is never enough), and then come up with a built opinion of your own. Then, maybe, you'll be respected as deserved.
