January 21, 200422 yr Ryan Adams is "t*t" on XFM :stunned: X-clusive: Ryan Adams Goes Mental At Xfm Acclaimed ‘difficult’ singer/songwriter Ryan Adams caused something of a ruckus at Xfm Towers, after abandoning his live session, doing a remarkably incoherent interview and generally acting like a t*t (despite the healing tea of Miss Claire Sturgess). Adams was in Xfm to perform a full band live set for the Music:Response show with Ian Camfield, centring round his new single ‘So Alive’. However things didn’t go according to plan. He arrived at the studio with a huge entourage, soundchecked and went off promising to come back at 8.00pm in time for the session at 8.15. This he did but asked to put the session back by ten minutes because his voice "wasn't hitting the high notes" required in the new single. After a quick rehearsal the singer then stormed out of the studio claiming his vocals "Sounded shit", before saying "I can't handle all this right now, I'm going." Adams was eventually located and coaxed back into the studio, but told Camfield he would only do an interview and not play a session. After more coaxing Ryan agreed to play just one acoustic track (rather than two full band songs). And, to add insult to injury, he also refused to drink a mug of herbal tea* made personally by Xfm's Claire Sturgess who thought it would calm him down. The interview itself was remarkably shambolic. When asked if he had any pastimes apart from music, Adams replied, “I don't have any hobbies other than writing music, taking load of drugs and reading.” And launched into a bizarre tirade about mortality and the music industry saying, "If it's about cash and fame, then that is a retarded thing to want if ultimately everyone is going to fucking die, you're going to die by yourself. I don't know why the money you have or the people you fuck is going to do anything for you anyway." Speaking about the incident Ian Camfield said: "He was the biggest prima donna I've ever met. We've had some big names on the show - Coldplay, Radiohead, Oasis, you name it they've been in, but I've never seen anything like this, I mean, even Bryan Adams wouldn't do this! If only he'd had the herbal tea that Claire Sturgess made for him, I'm sure it would have been a completely different story." © XFM.co.uk
January 22, 200422 yr Author    Exactly. XFM used the word t*t (with the i in) in the article and when I posted it it was replaced by *** - I've never had trouble posting profanity before  Weird!
January 22, 200422 yr yeah if you put f-cker in it comes out fucker! I USED to like Ryan Adams
January 22, 200422 yr Author Fucker - wow it does :stunned: I used to like him too, I don't think it's acceptable to act like that when they are HUGE stars, which he isn't. I guess his attitude doesn't change the fact that he makes great music though.
January 22, 200422 yr yeah I really like his stuff but the fact that he's a nob kinda lowers my opinion of him musically and I know it shouldn't :/
January 24, 200422 yr woo handbags Ryan!!! well i like his new single :D when i was in Cambridge last weekend 2 see my b/f Ryan was playing live and we heard him soundcheck outside the wee building that afternoon where i am going to seee DAMIEN soon. :P anyhoo.."i'iiii'm soooo aliiivee"
April 5, 200620 yr Author I can't believe there isn't an existing thread :stunned: I was hoping to hijack someone else's thread :P Anyway, I'm a fairly recent fan but I got given a copy of '29' which I loved, followed by Jacksonville City Nights and Cold Roses (Sweet Illusions  )and am now seeking out the many other albums I'm missing including the Whiskeytown stuff. Have done it all in reverse it seems :dozey: I went to see him in Liverpool last month too and it was really good (dispite his shambolic drunkeness). The best voice I have ever heard live, expecially amazing considering how in inebriated he was. Anyone else a fan?
April 6, 200620 yr I guess so sweetie but don't be down  anyway, what song would you recommend?
April 7, 200620 yr Author Haha Rick...it's a good job you're pretty  Crystal try So Alive, New York, New York, Sweet Illusions, Carolina Rain, Strawberry Wine, When The Stars Go Blue (recently covered by Tim McGraw  ) and Come Pick Me Up to name a few.
April 7, 200620 yr Ryan is great, pick anything up by him. Heartbreaker, Gold, Demolition, you've got the most recent stuff. Rock 'n Roll is alright, the Love is Hell albums are great. The cover of Wonderwall (off from Love is Hell Part 1) is better then the original. He also does a duet with EmmyLou Harris, called "Oh My Sweet Carolina" is hauntingly beautiful. Ryan's been compared to Gram Parsons (former singer and songwriter for the late 60's incarnation of The Byrds) and many others.
April 7, 200620 yr Thanks for the suggestions ... I will keep an ear out for em. and come back see what i thought ;)
