Every band seems to have their own thread in this section, so I thought I'd be the first to start one up for one of the biggest bands of all time;

R.E.M. (Big surprise I know since my name is Stipe!)

 

Chris Martin talks about their influence on him and how he thinks that X&Y in parts sounds like early R.E.M. And then of course he bought Michael Stipes lunchbox for 20,000.

 

So, here's the R.E.M. thread where any admirers can talk about them ;)

I went just for REM! did you see them too? Unreal! Me in honey was played! I saw all the support acts was like 5ft away from REM!!!! best gig/day ever!

Ah cool that you got so close! I only got there at bout 7 cause i thought there'd be a pit for fanclub members, but of course, typical irish, they didn't have one!!! Still got up fairly close though.

 

Ye, I know, Me In Honey was Amazing! And the whole crowd went wild for Orange Crush and Man On The Moon! It was a great day for it aswell, sun shining all day! Were u at the gigs earlier in the year at the Point?

Ye they had it on 2fm live, Ardgillan. Brought back all the memories. Stipe was fucking class!, Loved the rendition of Moon River!

unfortunately not... I hope, they'll be here in Germany next year... they did just 2 or 3 gigs here this year, kinda disappointing.

But I saw their performance at "Rock Am Ring" on TV and it was absolutely amazing - Micheal Stipe singing in rain, very cool :-)
