• I just wanted to say, after 5 years of being part of the Coldplay fandom, first on Coldplaying, now on Coldplaying, Twitter and other platforms, a wonderful thing happened today: Coldplay followed me

  • I ran away
    I ran away

On this day exactly 5 years ago, a young and innocent person who was just getting really into Coldplay wanted to sign up on a forum called Coldplaying. Faced with the question of what to pick as a use

  • Today exactly 5 years ago, I joined the Coldplaying community and I don't regret that that. To be honest, it's probably one of the best things that have happened in my life! I had never thought I woul

Yeah they were 5 euros here as well. But I didnt want to buy a calender where there's not ONE picture of Will. So fucking pointless. they should have called the calender 'chris martin 07' instead.

My calendar is up and I'm looking a will right now... :stunned:

4 pics of chris

3 pics of guy

3 pics of will

2 pics of jon

and 1 w/ guy and jon

or is that one not the 'official' calendar?? (wateva that means)

speed of sound video just came on vh1 and wow ... i haven't seen it in soooo long and i love it all over again [i haven't seen any cp videos in the longest time] ... gosh and now they are playing fix you for a countdown commercial ... ah coldplay love.

Here is Chris Martin`s interview on Enough Rope an australian TV talkshow... I`m sure many of you have already watched it but for those who haven`t there you go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pldEUWzT-Xw

One question: what is this on Chris` forefinger??? I have seen these fingerstraps a lot of times but does anybody know what they are made of?

i'm in a blabby mood, so watch out and skip this post! :)

first of all, i wasnt able to come here on saturday or sunday, so all weekend i had my fingers crossed for new material...and i come here and theres not. i just read the article with chris's explanation for why, and while im disappointed, i understand. its just kinda weird to be one of the people he's worried about! its so true though. the only thing im worried about is that some of the songs that they were planning to play before they changed their minds might be brilliant and might not make it on the album! its happened before, with songs like "ladder to the sun" and "solid ground." ah well. i know theyre right, because these song files would get around the world like wildfire!

i was thinking a lot about this board this weekend for some reason. i find it interesting that coldplay has such a cult-like following on the nets, whereas other somewhat more popular bands have pretty crap forums that no one goes to. i mean, only a tiny handful of other bands out there have anything like this forum dedicated to them. and it's so worldwide! i was suprised by that when i first came on here a year ago. its not mostly people from great britain and america: we seem to be in the minority! i find that so cool, that my favorite band is able to reach out to everywhere on the planet and have people love them everywhere they go. i suppose coldplay generally appeals to a large number of people. i mean, theyre kinda hard to hate. you may not love them, but i dont think a large number of people are repulsed by their music. in my experience here in america (CT, no less  ), almost every single person i know has at least one coldplay song on their ipod, not to mention at least one entire coldplay album, and i cant think of one person that wouldnt be excited over the prospect of free coldplay tickets. i think theyre just genrally likeable music-wise (and i would think people-wise as well, but apparently not, considering the # of people that think chris is a twat based on little evidence). i just think its so cool how it just so happens that its my favorite band that has such an amazing online community. i love this place to death, and without it i would still love coldplay, totally, but i think this place has helped me get even more obsessed.

another random thing: one of the things i was somewhat surprised by when i first came here was how well everyone speaks english. if there little flags werent there on everyones posts, id often have no idea that people come from all over the world (i LOVE the little flags, BTW). as an american, i think its somewhat strange to think that its our language that everyones learning all over the planet. its kinda sad, too, that america's become such a huge superpower that we're basically imposing our language on everyone else. on the flipside, i love that im able to communicate with people all over the world in a common language; i just think its unfair that theyre always the one that made the effort.

ANYWAY. i was at the westchester mall yesterday and i saw a hat in banana republic that was nearly EXACTLY the hat jonny wore for a big part of the X&Y tour. my head is too big to try it on though. and then in crate and barrel, i saw a guy that looked EXACTLY like will, exept he had hair. i kept staring at him and i think he got weirded out.

was watching cast away on saturday night, which ive only seen twice before, and the last time was before i got into coldplay. i know that in two parts, they have titles on the screen that say "FOUR YEARS LATER" etc. i was thinking that it would be funny if the titles were in albertus, the coldplay font, and then they came up and GUESS WHAT FONT THEY WERE IN. it was creepy. i mean, i have a photographic memory, but still, when i do things like that i creep myself out.

sorry about all the blabbing, ive had close to a week off from school and im going stir crazy! :laugh1:

YOU SAW THAT TOO!?!?! It didn't fit me either... :\

But I think it's great that there's a place where all Coldplayers can chill! I can't tell you how much I get made fun of for liking coldplay, even my own sister yesterday said they were gay... :veryangry2:

then i raised the volume:smug:

then she yelled at me:confused:

then i lowered it:stunned:

then her boyfriend called:wink3:

and I yelled out my sister was breaking up with him because she's discovered she's gay;)

then i got kicked outta my room...:shocked2:

(Not making fun of anyone of course! :))

^:laugh1:

hahaha, my brothers make fun of them all the time too. whatever...i know its mostly because i like them. my brother once said he sorta likes the old school coldplay stuff, like "shiver". my mom likes them as well (shes the one that got me into them), but thinks my obsession is unhealthy. well, i can pull the same card on her with pearl jam, her favorite band ever.

that hat! yes! i generally dont wear hats at all (i have a freakishly large head, though it doesnt look it), but i thought id give it a go. it looked horrible on me, but i liked looking like jonny for a second!

(BTW, all my friends went to that concert at the nassau coliseum the same night you did, but i couldnt get tix to that one, so i went to mohegan sun a week later)

thanks and sorry

I have a short haircut so I need to buy hats that cover my head completely...

really? where did they sit? They probably had better seats than me! just like my religion teacher did ... i tried convincing my parents to drive me up to mohegan... as you can probably tell, they didn't go for it:\

i dont know where they sat, exactly, but i can find out. none of them were exactly bowled over by the concert, though. i think they were trying to act cool and all, and none of them are as obsessed as i am, so they didnt tell great stories or anything. coldplay fan to coldplay fan: was it an ok show? because they told me it wasnt that great, though i bet to make fun of me...

mohegan sun was a 2 hr trip for me as well, so we had to stay the night and...well, theres a long story behind it. and while im SOOO glad i went, when i saw them in hartford before it was much better.

sorry, im really bored :laugh1: someone needs to learn how to shut me up. this place is my biggest procrastination zone...i should be reading king lear!

haha, don't worry, i've been hanging around the boards all day too! :D I should be doing an english project...

I sat about 4 rows from the middle of the ice toward guy's side... would've been great if it was a hockey game... not a concert :dozey:

everyone might have a different opinion, but from a average listeners point of view, it wasn't that great of a concert. They weren't that intimate except during the acoustic part where chris used two seconds to say that they'd changed clothes (we applauded that...), how hot guy was (which i totally agree with), and during X&Y when he told us to take out our cell phones like they were lighters and wave them (it was pretty funny, everyone did it). It was like they were robotic, they sounded great, but it seemed like they the band themselves were missing.

Richard Ashcroft talked to us more than Chris did... :o

and then there was the crying pregnant lady infront of me (which was partially sweet- long story) and the dying camera battery

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best either. I think the show was the just proof of how where the band is playing correlates to their performance.

But I still tell everyone it was ridiculously awesome... it was my first Coldplay concert afterall :D

Yesterday i got all four wisdom teeth taken out and i was listening to Parachutes whilst waiting to see if i could calm down coz i was really, really nervous (i'd never had an operation before) and then i listened to Jack Johnson, and I was listening to AROBTTH album, halfway through Green Eyes when the guy came to take me to the operation part.... and when i woke up, the first song to come to my head was Spies.

Also, whn I was listening to Parachutes I was reading Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and as I was listening to Yellow the main character was thinking/saying 'yellow' and the instruction on the front of the Guide is "Don't Panic".

Gosh, I hope my swelling is gone by Friday... I have my Uni Orientation Day and I don't want to go there swollen with an ice pack tied to my head.

i get reminded about cp every time i watch that movie, mainly because of that don't panic part!

i'm sure the swelling will be gone by friday, if it isn't you've got something interesting to share with your new uni buddies  so far i've been to orientation all week and if i saw someone with an ice pack attached to their head lol i'd love to talk to them instead of these ordinary non-icepack wearing students :shame:

yesterday on the bus i sat next to a guy listening to his ipod and i could've sworn he was listening to politik because i could hear the beginning beats and a bit of the piano melody at the end lol i couldn't help smileeeeee to myself :D

haha, we should be the ones thanking YOU, ian!! you created all this :laugh1: ! -valentine

don't remind me, you're making me feel old :P

When I went to the mall the other day, a store had In My Place on:lol:

Like a week ago I was on vacation with my best friends...

And near to the city where we were staying it was a famous and huge festival of Nacional Rock called Cosquin Rock

so we were in the Bus station...

I was wearing my Coldplay t-shirt ( YEAH!!!:guitarist:  ) and I was using my Coldplay bag ..+

SO WHEN THIS "NATIONAL ROCK FREAKS"

(because all these national Rock fans..have the same hair cut..use the same clothes..they have they're own style..like "darks" or "punks" have)

SAW ME WITH MY COLDPLAY STUFF

the started to look at me like "mmmmm what's that?:gossip:...mmm coldplay...:evil2: haha whatever" (It's like a fight between National rock and iNTERNATIONAL OR sOFT rOCK)

AND I WAS JUST.........:furious3: :furious:

I WILL KILL ALL OF YOU..

ROCK FREAKS!!!!

But then..

suddenly...THE SCIENTIST started playing in the bus station...

I WAS SO GLAD!!

that really clam me down!!

I just listened to Parachutes while driving my bike and freezing my ass off and it was so beautiful!

just now i was watching the video to gpasuyf on mute with things i don't understand playing, it was surreal, i think i'll do cross playing with other cp tracks because it was reeeeally good, totally saw the latter song in a completely different way :stunned:

sorry, they just make me laugh so much

was talking about music to my friend today (this is the friend that likes coldplay as well but claims he doesnt). we were mostly talking about radiohead and i said how i LOVE their early stuff but cant really get into anything past ok computer. he shook his head and started going through my ipod and said "everything you listen to is just coldplay with a different spin on it". thats not technically true, considering lots of things i listen to were around waay before coldplay, but he has a point: basically everything i listen to is in the same genre.

and then later he was trying to annoy me and was like "chris martin gets drunk ALL the time and goes off his head," which is obviously untrue and he knows it. i just started making fun of regina spektor (his love) and he soon got bored and went away.

" Well uh hello there everyone and uh welcome to Glastonbury the year two thousand and two, it's very nice to see so many of you here.

And we are not Rod Stewart, in case anyone is wondering. This is called Shiver"

haha! I was just listening to that!!

I was in the car on my way to pick up Guitar Hero II and Speed of Sound came on... i took it as a sign... :)

Does anyone else notice how different songs sound when they're on the radio?
