I was looking though some videos and pictures of the members and I noted the changes. I mean, I know they're look and style has changed tremendously...but I just hadn't pointed it out loud in my mind.

Now, I did.

Not just looks, but the style of their music has changed.

I wonder sometimes, if they got caught up in the hype of being in the spot light, and if the spotlight made them reconsider their origional purpose in music. Only because their newest stuff is a jump too high from what was before.

I mean to say, that music/artists DO make adjustments and the such... but did they jump too high?

I guess I am just loving too much their older stuff :(

Bands change. It happens. They haven't changed much at all in terms of THEMSELVES. I do think they were feeling some of the "rockstar powere" with X&Y, but I think it's since kicked them in the butts. All they want is to go into their OWN studio with just THEM and sit down and pound out some songs in a broom cupboard somewhere. They've kind of made that clear in recent interviews.

There's alot riding on the fourth album now. Especially for me anyways.

Well, everyone wants a band to do really well when they're new on the scene. Then once they get really popular it's like everyone's all "omg I want my little indy boys back!". I just don't know why that is? Coldplay isn't the biggest band in the world, they're incredibly popular, but they're not THE biggest band in the world (although they might be to us).

It's just, bands can't stand still. If they did, people would be complaining about THAT, you know? People grow up, their lives change, that obviously affects the music. I feel bad for them, seems like no matter what it's lose-lose-win, with the fans.

I know, but if the passion of good music was IN them from the beginning...where did it do?

I know that really really, if they had not been changed by the hype, they would still give us the goodness they had

I think they still want to make good music? Where'd you read that they didn't? Well, I guess it's all about taste and if you thought X&Y was too close to 'Joshua Tree', and too far from 'The Bends'. But obviously they're still making good music, or they wouldn't be selling 25,000 tickets a show.;)

I don't care to compare one band to the other like that :toff: ...especially since Radiohead like, isn't anywhere near the style Coldplay is!

I am comparing old Coldplay to new Colplay ... Not Coldplay to my other tastes. All music has it's own place in me ...k?

(THE FOLLOWING IS AN OPINION...I am aware :uhoh: that I am in THE Coldplay thread and I would hate to upset fellow fans)

Parachutes came to play..and boy O boy was it my heart! It defined Coldplay (being their 1st and only) and I love it...then AROBTTH came, and I was impressed, but it did not stick to me so hard. THEN was born X&Y...okay, that is surely Chris's voice! But the style ... not what I expected ... it was so DIFFERENT it almost could have been a whole other band! :cry2:

Oh no, I wasn't trying to do it. Believe me, comparing Coldplay to U2 for me drives me absolutely INSANE. I just know that a lot of people do that, including the media. It was just something random that popped into my head. And frankly, I have never heard much of Radiohead in Coldplay at ALL. Go figure.

I COMPLETELY respect your opinions. I listen more to their earlier stuff to the new stuff, but they've still got me hooked no matter what they do. I guess I just expected something different, and I wanted it. I can never stay still, and those albums will always be there for me to enjoy. I think the next album should definately have much more acoustic, and more solo piano! That'd be really good.

Indeed.

and not soooo much of the opera toning voice ey? :laugh4: really i am female and can not match that height! :stunned:

and that is definitly what I am hoping for...for them to have their own little niche again, with their selves doing their own thing with no one on thier backs about how shiny they should make the music. and i am wishing/hoping that they will continue bringing out that raw goodness that is heard far too distantly in their newest album, X&Y...

Thank you, Danielle, for laying out your opinions out so welll.

Aw, well thanks back to you! I really love that you express yourself on here and do it in such a refined and great manner! It's really appreciated!

Yeah, Chris does need to tone it down. I mean, I've gotten really used to it after almost a year of X&Y. But at the begining I was like "Man, I CAN'T HIT THAT HIGH!" lol! Niiiice deeep sexy baratone next time... mmm! And have Jonny sing solo on a track, how cool would that be? Instead of 'Don't Panic' it could be 'Um Guys We Were Wrong Its Time To Panic Now'

LMFAO!

It'll be Green Day's "All By Myself" for Coldplay. :laugh4:

Now Ian you made me cry, but you did all this discussion in one sentence wrapped and it's a truth.

I've never heard radiohead in coldplay either. Comparing those 2 makes absolutely no sense AT ALL.
