Why Global Warming Is A Sham

Featured Replies

There is a rediculous amount of CO2 in the atmosphere caused by burning fossil fuels, and it needs to be reduced. But man is only part of the problem when it comes to "Global Warming", and there are some things we are unable to control when it comes to the Earth's heating and cooling cycles. The Sun is playing a huge part in our recent warming trend. Look at the list in the link for more details.

Also, the reason that the U.S. will not sign the Kyoto accord is because it was designed to hinder the U.S. economy while not effecting the carbon dioxide outputs of such countries as China, which is the fastest-growing pollutant in the world.

I agree it's a sham. At the end of the day it's all about The-Dollar-Inc-Corp, government funding, grants etc. A book relevant to read about all this is Michael Crichton's State Of Fear (NO SPOILERS PLEASE as I'm only halfway through it). If you read Laura Penny's (a CANADIAN) book Your Call Is Important To Us: The Truth About Bullshit you will see most media articles are nothing but PR releases to fund/sell/promote a cause, a corporation, a business, a product. Funny that article you provided said pro-Global Warming people are anti-captilist. I use Global Warming as a scare tactic to provide a more equal, socialist, more efficient form of capitilism. Global Warming is based on assumptions, wild at that. How can they know for sure what tempereatures were exactly hundreds of years ago (no technology back then to keep track), let alone millions of years ago (here we see Science-Inc-Corp brainwashing/patronising us with Evolution, which after all is just a theory...)

people dont understand that the earth naturally warms up and cools down. we've had ice ages and mini ice ages...the change isnt caused by humans. good post and thanks for the link.

Yes of course...we all want the US economy to collapse

this is just ridiculous :dozey:

common sense.. yet he provided a link. Good job ugadawg.... I commend you.. even though I don't agree with the post. :)

well if you want to believe a right-wing science fiction author over the hundreds of climate scientists on the IPCC panel, national science organisations, scientific evidence, then go ahead.

The majority of the literature shows a significant anthropogenic effect. Solar effects are real, however, there is little evidence to suggest that this is the cause of the current warming.

The idea that Kyoto was created to solely hinder the american economy is a fantasy.

Here's a summary from real scientists, rather than some right-wing blogger...

We have alread discussed the connection between solar activity (here , here, here, and here), and this new analysis does not alter our previous conclusions: that there is not much evidence pointing to the sun being responsible for the warming since the 1950s.

http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2006/03/solar-variability-statistics-vs-physics-2nd-round/

Regardless of any discussion about solar irradiance in past centuries, the sunspot record and neutron monitor data (which can be compared with radionuclide records) show that solar activity has not increased since the 1950s and is therefore unlikely to be able to explain the recent warming.

Anyone interested in the science should read the realclimate blog. It is used by actual scientists.

I would recommend also to read the Kyoto Protocol and understand why all industrialised countries (not only the USA) need to take action and why China (and India too) have no burden, yet there are mechanisms which can help to orientate them to the right path (the so called Clean Development Mechanism) ;)

you want me to provide a link showing we've had ice ages? you dont already know this simple fact?

its a well known fact by most the world we've had ice ages and times when the earch has cooled down and warmed up. im hoping if i ever say 2+2=4 i dont have to post a link for you....

the major mediator of cyclic ice-ages is the milankovitch cycle (solar effects). However, as suggested earlier, solar effects are being shown to be of minimal importance for the current warming trend (highest estimate 16-36%).

Additionally, we are expected to be cooling rather than warming, as we are the middle of an interglacial period (12,000 yrs from last ice-age, estimated to be a cycle of ca. 28,000yrs). Anthropogenic effects may well extend this interglacial to around 50,000yrs.

I know Ice ages happen as a result of nature, and before every ice age recorded, there has been an increase in the global temperature and then a drastic fall as the ice age occurs.

But what bugs me is when people say, we have NOTHING to do with the problem, See half of the problem is not that the planet is getting hotter, its the fact that we are destroying the ozone. And that in fact has NEVER happened before. CFC's and other emissions are decreasing the ammount of ozone we have, and without it, we cants support life. Sure its not going to effect us NOW or in the NEAR future, but what about in 50 years? 100? 150? it could be a REAL problem for our grandchildren and their grandchildren. One of these generations has to be the first to step up to the plate and begin the fight.

If we didn't have the greenhouse effect, earth would be a nice and warm Minus 30 degree C due to it's location from the sun. It has warmed up and cooled down in the past, and it's on another cycle.

If we stop burning coal, the earth will warm up. Co2 isn't the biggest threat, Methane, CFCs, NOx & SOx are the biggest threat because they have a way longer time before breaking down, causing the so-called enhanched greenhouse effect

^infact not only CO2 should be decreased according to the Kyoto Protocol, yest it's the easiest to be abated (by not using coal for heating for example)

and brandon I totally agree with you...that's the main aim: think also about next generations, cause we're destroying the place where they will live

There's an indian saying "We do not inheir the land from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children", just seemed appropriate.

There is no such thing as global warming. Chuck Norris was cold, so he turned the sun up.

No NO NO... it was the guy from those Death Wish movies....
