yes, it actually was. i wasnt saying that milan payed uefa but i dont understand why kahn's banned. however bayern got a good result without him and van bommel even though milan were very dominating. the second leg's gonna be interesting, i'm really looking forward to it!

van Buyten...hero of Bayern Munich! maybe he could teach Podolski how to score...:smug:

yeah I know you didn't say that ;)

Honestly I don't understand the Kanh situation either.. but it turned out for the best for Bayern cause Rensing did some nice saves.

Milan dominated most of the game but in the last 20 minutes or so they held back and bayern were really pushing and not giving up.. they got the equalizer in the last seconds

It's gona be very hard for Milan but I hope we make it through

There are some pretty disgusting scenes from the ROMA - MAN UTD game tonight - regarding trouble in the stands.

I've seen some footage (as many of you probably have) of fans taunting the Darth Vader style Police there and some of the beatings the fans got was out of hand.

Yes, there were a few fans that took things a little too far but seeing Police club at Man Utd fans many times while they were down on the floor is outrageous. That is way beyond what Police are meant to be about.

Have a look for yourself when you get a chance....you can see some real thumpings given out and all the Police are in the Man Utd enclosure.

Italy is pretty bad when it comes to the Police State and the way the Police dress & act over there has increased the tensions over recent years until now it is out of control.

Thing is - what is the solution? More military style Police! Which is pretty much what seems to be happening everywhere.

Man Utd brush off trouble fears

_42781967_fergie203.jpg_42779833_unitedfans203.jpg

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says he is not expecting any trouble between fans at their Champions League quarter-final at home to Roma.

The first leg in Rome, which United lost 2-1, was marred by violence between supporters and Italian police.

But Ferguson said: "I don't anticipate any trouble. Security at Old Trafford is fantastic.

"I don't think the Roma fans will have any problems. There's never been any history of that."

Roma are bringing 3,800 travelling fans and the first flight from Rome arrived at 0900 on Tuesday, with 341 fans on board.

Thirteen more flights will arrive at intervals, mainly in the afternoon, until 1800 BST on Tuesday.

Italian fans will use 42 coaches to take them from the airport into Manchester city centre.

And the airport has employed Italian-speaking staff to help direct the fans when they arrive and depart.

Roma's managing director Rosella Sensi insists their fans will behave impeccably.

Sensi said: "It is right to call for calm. But our fans know how to behave whether they are in Italy or abroad.

"It's a very important game for Roma but we are approaching it calmly."

Extra police will be deployed in Manchester before the match.

The visiting fans will be in the second tier of the East Stand, meaning they will be sat at the same end of the ground as United fans.

The police match commander at Old Trafford is confident the match will pass off peacefully and that the Italian club's notorious fans will not travel.

Supt Charlie Coxon, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "History shows the ultras don't travel abroad.

"We have Italian police officers with us. If any of the known ultras do appear, they will see them.

"We have a full police operation at Manchester Airport to make sure everything is very safe. But we don't expect any of them to come."

The Independent Manchester United Supporters Association said trouble was not expected in the return match.

"We all need to make sure that there are no headlines in Manchester to wipe out the memory of those made by the Italian police last week in Rome," said IMUSA in a statement.

"The Roma fans at Old Trafford on Tuesday will be just like most of our fans who went to Rome last week and will be there only to watch the football."

Uefa is to investigate the trouble from the first leg, which could lead to disciplinary action for both United and Roma.

Roma could be charged if they are judged to have failed in their security arrangements, while United could be in trouble if their fans are found to have a played a significant role in provoking the police's reaction.

The trouble flared when rival fans surged towards a barrier separating them and missiles were thrown.

Baton-wielding riot police were seen repeatedly striking United supporters, including at least two people as they lay on the floor.

Chelsea reassure fans over safety

_42781933_fans203.jpg

Chelsea are confident that all is being done to ensure their travelling fans are kept safe when they visit Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Supporters of Manchester United and Tottenham were involved in ugly clashes last week when their clubs visited Roma and Sevilla respectively.

And the Blues are keen to avoid any repeat at the Estadio Mestalla.

A club statement said: "We can reassure our supporters that every step is being taken to ensure their safety."

The statement added: "The safety of our supporters is paramount."

The club went on to point out that the first leg of their match passed off without any problems and expected a similarly incident-free match in the Estadio Mestalla.

The quarter-final first-leg tie at Stamford Bridge ended in a 1-1 draw with Didier Drogba cancelling out David Silva's first-half strike.

The Blues travel to Spain needing a win to progress to the semi-finals.

"The two clubs, both sets of supporters and the various English and Spanish authorities enjoyed excellent dialogue and relations in the organisation and staging of a trouble-free first leg and that tone has continued in the run-up to the second leg."

Mourinho added his support, saying: "I hope Chelsea can be proud of their fans and that Valencia too can contribute to a positive atmosphere just like there was at Stamford Bridge where there were no problems whatsoever.

"I hope the fans get on, that they have a beer or two, not too many though."

The Valencia police, meanwhile, insist there is unlikely to be any trouble at the Mestalla.

"We are not expecting any problems, we have many big clubs here and have had English clubs before and there have never been problems," said a police spokesman.

Man Utd are absolutely unstoppable tonight.

+1

Ronaldo's first CL goal ever

Valencia 1-0 Chelsea

The only spanish team left, now Chelsea have work to do.

I hope Chelski go through, I'm an advocate for English footy all round in Europe. 3 out of 4 teams in S/F will be fantastic for English football :cool3:

It would mean an all English final would be 50% likely.
