Cars!

Featured Replies

I won't take that bet...wow, it is a lot more expensive.

My friend's 17 year old brother has just passed his driving test and he bought a 1.6L Honda Civic, despite everyone telling him that that wouldn't be the best move. His insurance was £2200.

The most expensive quote I got for my car was £2500, the cheapest was £600, although that was using my "named driver discount".

I bet your car tax is cheaper than for me

Probably, it was £110 last time I renewed it.

Do you have the choice?

Oh yeah there is no law that says you have to have insurance.

Sadly in this country, when you get the pigs sitting in their unmarked vans, with speed guns, they use software to check:

1 - if your car has a valid mot

2 - if your car has insurance

3 - if your car has tax

4 - if your car isn't stolen

And if anything pops up, they will radio the other cops to pull you over.

So it's compulsory to have insurance?

What is tax?

Really? Wow. So if (god forbid) you hit another driver how would it be resolved? Would you just have to pay out of your own pocket?

Road tax is an annual fee used (in theory) to pay for the upkeep and use of the roads

I dunno,i have never had an accident in 12 years of driving...

The other day a mate of mine crashed into another car..then he goes oh shit!! Then he floors it and quickly gets out of there.

Thank god you put the words in theory in that sentence.

You could do that in this country, but if the police track you down, you will be charged with "leaving the scene of an accident", which is worst then having to hang your head in shame for the next 5 years as your insurance will be higher.

Yeah it's not worth doing a runner at any time.

I drive a little silver Suzuki Swift, which I still have a year to pay on, isn't the prettiest of cars but has never *touch wood* broken down or caused me any major problems. Has always been a nice little runner :nice:

I think next time I get a car I'll get a brand new one and go on those rent type schemes where you pay monthly and get a new one every three years. :idea2:

I was thinking of getting a cooper too but I don't like it that much.. unless it's convertible. Have you guys seen the smartfortwo cars? They are so small! I haven't seen one from the inside but they seem so small. I wonder if it's smaller than a cooper:thinking:

The Smart Car?

That's quite a lot smaller than a MINI, but it's only a 2 seater and doesn't have a lot in terms of storage space.

MINI's are overrated in my book.

I havn't a car jet.. started few weeks ago with lessons. :P

Can't wait. :)

The best drivers are the people who take normal lessons, but also get their parents to sit in the car next to them and drive in between lessons.

You do not have a jet car? :o One would hope not!

I managed to beat my personal best for fuel consumption.

64.1 mpg :)

Oh congrats..........................

With the cost of fuel these days, I'm using my car less and less.

Like today I walked to the train station to catch a bus (because the trains weren't running) to get to the nearest city (ignoring the fact that instead of a 10 minute train trip it took over an hour by bus due to the traffic). Nice and relaxing for a change.

Yeah people are starting to sell their cars and getting scooters.

Here 91 is 2.03 a litre and 95 and 98 are above 2.10 a litre.

What's that in Pounds?

Here it's 126.9 pence per litre for derv
