my dream car:

...yeah...

A jumped up Gen 4 VW golf wearing a posh suit?

Thanks for the advics, Iknow everything but have no time for taking theory and taking about 3 lessons more to be perfect for practical test, but my instructor is so crap, so Im thinking of another.

Just do it before you have to do the "skills logbook" with the instructor.

Everytime I look at this thread, I get the Gary Numan song in my head.... :dozey:

I expect it's happened to others too...

Did you pass first time Dave?

I passed first time as well.

7 minors... some questionable, I'd say... "undue hesitation", I had to do a right turn across one of the busiest roads in my town and there were NO gaps! Oh well.

Same here (with 7 minors).

Although I took my test in Winchester, which is one of the easiest test centres around here compared to the other centres.

When did you pass?

Way back now..... Winter 2004.....wooooah!

I liked my test centre because it didn't have a car park, so you didn't have to do that kind of parking. Although now I find that parking easier than parallel parking.

My mum sold the car I drove, so I havn't been able to drive around for about a year now. Depressing!! :(

You got a car?

So only a few months difference.

I do have a car, she is a rather lovely skoda fabia tdi, which I kinda need as public transport isn't good around here

Oh, really? My friend just bought her first car and it's a Skoda Fabia too. People thought she was strange, but its basically a vw in disguise with cheaper inside fittings and stuff.... it goes really well....like yours I presume? and was cheaper than the usual ford or fiat all the youngun's go for 'cause it's 'not cool' :laugh3:

I crashed mine not too long ago :\

Reading through this thread makes me feel like I wanna go get a license NOW.

Since I graduated highschool, everyone's been asking me when I'll be getting my license. It's kind of become a sensitive issue, like people asking me, 'when are you getting married?' :P

I do want to, but I'm scared of driving! I mean, I cant even walk without bumping into things all the time, nevermind drive! I cant even ride a bicycle in a straight line! :/

here in my car, i feel safest as all

i can lock all the doors

it's the only way to live

IN CARS.

Many a person Cavenow knows of, like hummers and wish to obtain one in the future. After being told this, Cavenow spat in their faces in disgust. A military vehicle in a city? Are these people imbeciles?

Grrr, why people think that Skoda makes bad cars just because it's from the Central Europe (or rather Eastern Europe, as some of the English think)... I think that Skoda is a really good car, maybe not as good as the luxury and expensive ones, but it's got the advantage that it's cheap and reliable... My mum has got a Skoda for about 7 years or more, and it still looks like new and we never had a problem with it.

But true, Skoda's not so Czech anymore, since it belongs with Volkswagen.

Don't know why people should think that someone in the UK's strange just because the person buys this car.

Well, by strange people, I meant mainly silly impressionable teenagers who think that Fords, Peugeots, etc etc are 'cooler' here. It's not everyone though. and my friend's laughing all the way, cos she has a better, reliable car that she paid a good price for :)

Aha, that's it :) You know, I don't like people that think that something can be more reliable just because it's originally from here. It's the same situation like when I was in the UK, some people didn't even know where the Czech republic is, and they thought it was somewhere near Russia.

Compared to the VW polo which the Fabia is based on, the interior is better quality, and overall the cars are better quality (check those driver power surveys which magazines run, the fabia comes high up, where the polo doesn't).

Nothing wrong with having a skoda these days
