NEW STARS ON COLDPLAY.COM

Sounds like we're in for a few late-in-the-game b-sides. If the mixing process is already underway, I'd be surprised to see any new songs slip into the mix. Remember how many new songs have come after the albums' releases before, especially during the X&Y era.

Jony_AlternO, do you know where the pic in your avatar was taken? Do you know where there is a bigger version cos it looks really cool.

Kind of funny that there's a ton of new songs coming out of Chris's head faster than they can finish the recording the current ones. Good news is we can expect...LOTS OF B-SIDES!;)

When he says "where all gloomy about our slow progress on designing the live show" He means the next tour correct?

yes.

Regarding Chris writing new songs, it reminds me of the stories I've read about other bands in the 11th hour of recording. Def Leppard had their album "Hysteria" pretty much complete, until the producer heard the lead singer playing and singing the chorus of what we now know as "Pour Some Sugar on Me." The producer said, "we have to record that!" and the rest is history. Although I'm sure the songs Coldplay have recorded are great, I think that Chris (always a worrier) is trying to top those songs or see if he can pull out another "Clocks" or "Yellow." There are a lot of bands that have done this and a great single came out of it. Goo Goo Dolls comes to mind as well ... the song, "Name" wasn't even going to be put on the c.d. because it was very last minute ... but they did it and great things came. I hope the same happens with this new album :) If Chris can just sneak one more song in there, it could surely change what they have become known for i.e. Clocks, The Scientist, Yellow, etc.

Exciting stuff!

I have a question.

The mixing is being done in New York yes?

So, how long is the plane trip from London to New York?

It's six and a half hours from Toronto, so you're probably right - 10-12 hours

oh no, its not THAT long...it takes about 6-7 hours from NYC to london. but it seems faster, and i was flying in a blizard at the time! concorde was like 3-4 i think.

about the prolific writing and the b-sides...just because he's writing like a madman doesnt mean theyll release it all, though i WISH WISH WISH they would! i think we'll still get the same amount of b-sides, theyll just be more to pick from, which means more unheard coldplay music for us, which makes me kind of sad...

but keep writing chris!!!!

It's 10 hours from London to Houston, so I would guess around 6 to NY. It's also faster flying there, than coming back. Something to do with winds.

Really, I'm never jet lagged going, just coming back. From here I usually leave around 7pm and get to London the next day around 10am their time. I get on the plane, I go to sleep and wake up the next day in England, no problem. Coming back I leave there at 1pm and get to Houston around 4pm, and by the time I get home I've been awake around 24 hours. It sucks. I can never sleep on the return flight for some reason.

ah, well i was on a plane with 12 of my best friends at the time, and our chaperone didnt ALLOW us to sleep once we got there to ward off not getting accustomed to their time. it was a nightmare! and we were all so sick coming home that we just slept the entire flight :P that might have something to do with it all.

ok.

so, the chances of them doing back and forwards trip from NY to London arent that big. Theyd be staying in NY for awhile i guess? Sounds cool.

Works out well for Chris with all that shizz with Gwynth doing movie shooting etc.

Coolies! Mixing is almost done...artwork is good...possibilities of b-sides.

Things are looking up. All we need is a freaking release date!

omg i am so excited!!!:dance::dance::dance:

don't they have a mixing desk at their new HQ?

Yes indeed they do. (And at the moment, I hear Brian and Chris are chained to it until they're satisfied with the result, lol)

Mixing part is in New York at the same HQ which they used for X&Y...
