Who cares that it is from Nickelback, it's the a decent radio song, and when you get forced to listen to the radio for 6 hours a day, with no control over the station, it's a lot better than some of the other current crap, like Amy Winehouse's murder of Valerie and Duffy.

Yeah same here. Which artists have you been listening to? I've been listening mostly to Justice, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, and Hot Chip.

Well, if you're looking for recommendations, listen to "Silent Shout" by The Knife. It's a fantastic album, especially "Marble House". Seriously, best I've heard in a while.

 

Personally, I'm completely addicted to Modeselektor at the moment. It's all Thom's fault. If you've only heard a couple of things by them I'm guessing you probably came across the most annoying examples based on what's on their myspace.

 

My all time favorites are The Chemical Brothers (mainly their singles) and Moby. Oh yeah, and Fatboy Slim. Basically the obvious stuff.

 

Other than that... the stuff you've been listening to- LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Justice (though I haven't heard much Daft Punk since my brother moved out and took Interstella 5555 with him. boo. Took me a long time to get my head around it (had never heard of Daft Punk before), but I love that soundtrack.) Goldfrapp is good, I like what I've heard of Ladytron... liking what I've heard of !!!. Still ADORE Maps. Love trip hop, though I don't know if that counts, especially Massive Attack. Random bits and bobs, mainly. There's others, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. My number one guilty pleasure is a thing for cheesy house music- don't know where that came from, but I've liked it since I was a little kid.

 

I suppose saying that I like electronica is a bit like saying that I like rock- it doesn't explain that I like new wave, hate emo, and don't care for blues. There's all sorts of genres out there and unfortunately more cheese than not. But it's worth looking.

Yeah...well I do love the prof because he has the funniest German accent ever. But I do find it extremely hard to focus in the class. And also we go so slowly through texts by Plato, Aristotle, Heideggar, etc. and it just drags on and on. I'm a science student so a class like this is not really my forte. I'm just in it because its required for my program.

Oh you poor thing... I could barely handle Plato when I was willingly studying classics. Can't imagine being forced to study it, especially as a science student. :worried2:

exactly. i don't care what you like, as long as you like it for a reason other than it being "in" to like that band, or because everyone else likes it. and as long as you don't preach to me about why i should love that band as well, and that i'm a loser or somehow mentally inferior because i don't. i let everyone like what they like (as long as its for a good, defendable reason) and accept it. and as long as you're not attacking someone for liking a certain band, then i think friendly debate and gushing about the band is fine. :D
