July 2, 200322 yr Does anyone else think that "Amsterdam" is underrated? A lot of people dismiss it for not being as strong as Politik, but I personally think that it's the best song on AROBTTH.[/url]
July 2, 200322 yr i think all people appreciate amsterdam but aren't very vocal about it. it's just a song that you know kicks ass so you don't need to say anything. lol. i love it personally. i think it would have made a fantastic single!
July 3, 200322 yr There are a loooooot of people who loves 'Amsterdam', sure!!! It reminds me of a nice guy that I meet. We went in his van and guess what's the first song on the cd player... Mmmmmmh, I really likes him

July 4, 200322 yr i like amsterdam because it starts off so slow and quiet and then the end is so rocked out. i love that sort of tempo in songs. best of both sides. rush of blood to the head is like that too.
July 4, 200322 yr NO! :o hehe maybe im just to spoiled with all the new songs and b-sides and stuff..but this really is the song i hardly ever listen too *blush*
July 4, 200322 yr I'm totally agree with nadine, I really really love the end of 'Amsterdam'... Say what you mean, but it won't change a thing, I'm sick of seeecreeeeeets... :)
July 5, 200322 yr Amsterdam was the one song on AROBTTH that really struck me the very first time I listened the album. I just went "wow..." For a while I'd put it on repeat and sleep with it playing. When I saw Coldplay on June 2nd, I wasn't in good spirits and was prepared to sulk all night, but little by little they broke me down (I even sang along with Everything's Not Lost when 1. I don't really like that song, and 2. I usually find sing-alongs cheesy). Even though I started having a good time, I still didn't expect them to play Amsterdam at all, so when they started it I went a little mental. I bounced up and down, punched the air and cheered, and y'know, normally I'm pretty reserved, so that was quite a huge reaction coming from me. It's definitely on my "favourite songs... ever" list. I adore the line, "And I know I'm dead on the surface, but I am screamin' underneath."
July 5, 200322 yr The first time I listened to A Rush of Blood To The Head all the way through, it was Amsterdam that stuck me as the best song on the album. It's about how sad people can get when they are heart-broken and what they would do to stop it. Yea, I think it's one of those great songs that everybody just knows is good. Like.... Stay (Faraway, So Close) by U2. If you were to say "That song is great!" the person you were talking to would just say "well duh!"
July 6, 200322 yr Author I read somewhere that it's called Amsterdam because of something that happened to Chris when he was in....Amsterdam. Besides that, who knows.
July 7, 200322 yr no problem! I might be wrong though. I read that on a web page that was reviewing A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Amsterdam is definately the gloomiest song they've composed so far.
July 7, 200322 yr which ones Angela? how did they go? i cant remember lol u keep changing them hehe
July 8, 200322 yr ohhh well that helps! Back on topic. I wonder what that sound is at the beginning of Amsterdam. Right when the track starts.
July 8, 200322 yr Author umm....random ambient sound effect? It sounds almost like doors opening...on something like a train, maybe.
