Josh42
First question: What ever happened to the songs "Mining on the Moon", "The Fall of Man", and "Bucket for a Crown"? I was really looking forward to TFOM. Second: Talk has been going around about Coldplay having written "The Greatest song they've ever written." What song do you think this is? I've gotta think it's 42, as they've said it will be a single, it's been on the track list since the beginning, and the entire album seems to be focused around the number (it's 42 minutes long). If not then maybe Famous Old Painters, but FoP wasn't on the track list that was released on the Swedish website, which looks pretty official to me. I don't know though, what are your thoughts? Tnspieler1012
1st. Bucket for a crown was a song written for a charity concert, and the others were merely rumoured song tracks that appeared on wikipedia but probably don't exist. None of these will appear on the new album. 2. I don't remember anything about 'the greatest song ever written'. But Chris did mention one song that everyone has to hear before they die, and my guess is that it's '42'.
Andy14
My guess is 42. It seems to be a linchpin song, and seems to have been existence for quite some time. I really enjoyed Bucket for a Crown, but I don’t think we’ll ever be hearing it again. I doubt it was even ever finished. Though then again, they did say that at the start of 2007 a whole lot of songs were scrapped. Perhaps it was on of those scrapped ones and work on it halted. That tracklisting that came out recently was just a copy/paste from the Rolling Stone article and has no bearing on the final tracklisting. The real one is long overdue. Famous Old Painter
Chris did mention one song that everyone has to hear before they die, and my guess is that it's '42'. It has to be. It will spawn the ultimate question "what is the one song that everyone has to hear before they die?" and of course the answer will be 42.

The way its worded maybe a little ambiguous but it definitely implied that it would be posted soon. I want something explaining whats happening or whats not happening by the end of next week. But unless the release date changes, I'm not going to burst a blood vessel.

I suppose it's always possible, I'm not sure if mining on the moon didn't also have something to do with that charity concert, and there's a bogus "unreleased track" going called "the fall" which is rumored to be a coldplay instrumental, but most likely isn't. In any case, when wikipedia posted that these songs are possibilities for LP4 there was no real valid source to back it up. and with all the coldplay track titles coming out, I think we would've heard the titles by now. Tnspieler1012
And this is weird, because I'm positive I posted this on this thread before, but it's not showing up so...: There seems to be a whole lot of hype surrounding the track "42". First we here it has an awesome solo from jonny, then we're all sure it's gonna be the album title, then it's rumoured to be the track we all have to hear before we die, and then it has the coolest song description from rolling stone. Now, I've only been a coldplay since last year, but has any other coldplay released track title (from say the X&Y or AROBTTH era) had as much hype as 42?
