THey probably do know someone who worked on the shoot or the album in Barca. You wouldn't believe the spoilers that have come out of the X Files shoot from people on set who have said 'let me tell/show you something, but you have to promise not to tell.'. I've been a party to unfinished/unreleased music before...no one as big as Coldplay, accept SOS, and that was only 2 days ahead, so I can see it happening.

People hate to keep secrets, and they just HAVE to tell someone.:)

I definitely would, and it's why I'm still a bit skeptical. But not everyone pays the same kind of attention to lyrics. I know a couple of people who sing back-up in bands who don't even know what the lead singer is going on about, lol. If it were me, I'd be memorizing the lyrics as it played, but some pay more attention to the music.

yes but the one thing that's annoying is that this guy couldn't remember one single lyric and they heard it a few times apparently,

you WOULD remember something of the lyrics wouldn't you?

:\

he said he heard it only once i been listening to coldplay 4 ever and i still couldnt tell you most of the lyrics for any song lol i have bad memory but when i listen to the song any song ,i remeber and sing along its wierd how that works:confused:

Nah he said somewhere "...from the few times I heard it"

It'll annoy me til I find the post now! :laugh3:

unless he's just faking and completely tripped himself up about it by saying he's heard it once somewhere, and a few times somewhere else

I'm gonna go digging through the thread

No, sorry. I'm not english nor american, and I was more focused on the sound than lyrics, the few times I could listen to it

About the double post, sorry about that. Ian maybe can solve it.

Oh, Ian, I don't want that my nickname appears somewhere else but in the forum or threads. Please do not post it or name it on the news front page. And if you could change it in this moment I will appreciate it as well.

Found it :)

that could never happen to me, I dunno what it is,

coldplay have the X-factor! :laugh3:

I can't get enough of them

:D

lol yeah I don't know how people do it. I can't just listen to one single band so much. Gah but he has so much soul and he's such a good singer... and good looking. What an amazing combo.

i really don't see what the big deal is. his certainly not the first to hear the song there are most probably loads of journos and sound engineers and other people in the industry who have heard the entire album. let the man/woman live in peace.

just for the record i too am sceptic (but thats just my nature) but i wouldn't be surprised if he is 100% on the mark at the end of the day it still doesn't mean i get to hear the song any earlier. i got all the insight i wanted from the rolling stone article and his views didn't really tell me much more as the biggest attraction of coldplay to me is chris's lyrics and this guy/girl who writes english as well as i do can't recall any words from the song.

Heyyyy, you're back hotplay! :)

I know,

I get sick of listening to every other band over and over again except Coldplay. Coldplay songs mean so much to me, because they have probably helped me through so much :)

Idlewild are another band I can listen to over and over again! :D

I know exactly what you're saying. Coldplay has gotten me through so many hard times and their songs are attached to so many memories for me. Even my guy friend's girlfriend broke up with him and he loved her so much so I showed him the lyrics of What If and he apologized to me and said, "I'm sorry. I don't want to bring you in this" or something like that.

Yeah, Coldplay's been there for me. They are my favorite band which is kind of weird that I'm putting a hold on them for just A LITTLE. I've heard them so much... SO MUCH. I have oh... 118 of their songs plus videos on my ipod and everyday that's what I listen to in the morning, throughout the day and at night....

yeah that was kind of a long drawn out message. Sorry for that. :dozey:

Haha, it's cool Hotplay.

:)

I'm the same as you,

on my last fm for the last month

coldplay have like 400+ plays and the band in second has only something like 120.

haha

I'm borderline obsessed with coldplay.

the lyrics on X&Y were a bit sketchy in places, even chris admitted that, but I think most of them are so moving.

that whole album is my favourite album ever.

though right now, my favourite SONG would have to be

"Your love means everything"

it's an X&Y B-side

it's so beautiful

and amazing.

you have to hear it!

I can't believe it wasn't on the album

I've never heard it, I'll fish around for it though =]

and yeahh that's the right song,

it's so amazing!

it's just so different because chris sings most of it in lower vocals, which is what the new albums gonna be like, so it's building up the anticipation :D

I know many of you are not going to believe me, but I've already heard Violet Hill.

I'm not going to give away many details of how I did it, only that it was via an ipod, and a few days ago. And I see that everybody is so eager to know, that I think you finally deserved to share this with me.

Believe or not, I'm going to give my impressions about it. It's awesome!

The lyrics are the part that I can't remember precisely, because English is not my native language. The chorus is the same that Rolling Stone explained.

However, the song does not start with the jagged guitar Rolling Stone said, but with an atmospheric intro of about 15-20 seconds very Eno-esque. Then the guitar and piano begin to sound. Their riffs are heavier, faster and louder than ever. I don't think I've heard Buckland studio work this hard (live you always hear it louder and lower), but it's very attractive combined with the piano.

Chris voice is his low voice of the Parachutes era, but seems to be just stronger, muscular, not delicate till the end of the song. Not a single falsetto note here.

Also, the bass and drum sound different from general past Coldplay songs. Here they define the whole rhythm by themselves, especially Will's work. It's very distinctive and it has an intense effect between verses, and especially after every chorus. You think the drums are going to end, but they follow and remark these moments. You'll recognise very well this part of the song: bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam (six or seven times I think).

There's an intermediate guitar bridge before the final chorus, a continued riff, in which sometimes I thought of a Pink Floyd Dark Side or Pulse era, atmospheric soundful but at the peaks of the guitar distorted.

After the final chorus, there's the end, a coda of 35-40 with Chris only on the piano and singing low. Here his voice is delicate but not mellow. Seems to express he's broken inside, sadder and lonelier than ever, and the song slowly fades after the last word and note and dissapears into atmospheric as well, bringing you loneliness but strength.

The structure of the song is very Coldplayish, but the general sound is different, in the way of being more mature, stronger and epic without pretending it (unlike some X & Y songs). The instruments are very well integrated, much better than other times, but in many parts, an instrument carries by itself the song. Eno Production makes them sound louder, stronger but not pretentious. It feels both natural evolution, and I hope for the rest of the songs, seems to announce a more adult themed work and the step beyond we were awaiting.

Overall I give it 9,5/10.

Ok. That's all folks. As I said, I know some will believe me and some will not. I'll be called liar by some, I have no doubts. But when all of you will be able to hear the song, and it's sooner than you expect, you'll know it's true.

Thanks for posting, although I take no responsibility for your posts should you 'get found out' :)

I do remember you posting this a while back though:

I'm sure 100% that "Famous Old Painters" is the title. Let's await official confirmation.
Maybe you know something about title changes that we should know about? ;)
