Kudos to all of you! Between the Mods, tifosi and Ian this place stayed saner than the official site,lol. It was pretty crowded, but with enough reloads, we all got through.:D

 

I wonder how the official forums look right now...or are they still offline?

I have used the ignore feature on numerous occasions,and while effective,it would be much better if you could completely ignore that user,so you can not even see that he/she has posted anything...

I completely agree with this thread. Some people are getting out of hand. If you want to go to a forum just to annoy people and make fun of their beliefs, choose a different one. This is a friendly place where people can express their opinions. Lets keep it that way!

aw, I didnt know it was that bad.. I didnt stay long after Violet Hill release.

But seeing all the new threads opening yesterday really scared me.. there was too many new members and too many new posts at the same time that I got off !

I just came back and dont even dare to go to the Coldplay forum... :\

I'll just wait for everything to calm down and I hope the negative atmosphere will be gone soon..

I'm glad I don't visit Coldplay section more than 5 times a year. That's all I want to say.

 

But I wish all the mods they'd stay sane after this craze.

I've spent more time in the coldplay forum the last 3 days than I have in the last 3 years,lol. And it was nuts yesterday! It looks to me like it's been really cleaned up today. i'z impressed!:)

On the other hand, I was one of those new people exactly like now when Speed of Sound came out, and scared of all the people who yelled at n00bs for not knowing stuff, and intimidated by all the people who seemed to know each other so well. So there's a great deal of sympathy both ways.

I apologize for not being around as much as I should be lately.

 

I have just been busy with work/AAT stuff/moving new sofa into living room/watching telly/sleeping.

 

So in short, my body is wanting to go into a deep sleep at the weekend, where it is a 3-day weekend (yay)

Exactly! We were all noobs once, and unless a noobe did something really stupid or rude, they didn't deserve to be yelled at. And neither did we for just voicing opinions. It's what happens when you have such a tense atmosphere, even if it is for something wonderful like a new song/album.

Anyways, I think Debs said there was not going to be an official forum on the new coldplay site. That is odd. I was surprised. I would think that would be good for their publicity and fans.

I made an account on coldplay.com's forum ages ago to plug our charity CD, and I saw much the same thing as you just described. It's why I prefer this forum by far.:) This is the first time I've really felt negativity on here,and it really didn't last that long. Looks like our membership may increase if they don't reboot the old forum.

Agreed. I find that disgusting, and it would almost be a bannable offense on my forum. 'Gay'? Have we not grown up at ALL in the last couple of decades. Using gay as an insult in this day and age is just pathetic. And as for Down's Syndrome, my mother taught DS kids for years, and they're some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet...I'd almost take it as a compliment, but that's not the point. Thanks for posting about this!

 

Mainly I bumped this thread just to say UUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!! What a day!! Here we go again with the insults and arguing.

 

Something we need to keep in mind: Not everyone on here speaks perfect English. It's the most commonly used language on here, but it's not the only one, and when a member says something that doesn't make perfect sense to us, maybe we should look at whether English is their first language before jumping on them, and not just jump on them for saying something we think is stupid. OK, rant over. It's a global forum, and if I had to function on here in French of Spanish, i'd do a lot worse than a large number of the non-English speakers here...be patient!:)

I have stayed away today and spent my time listening to the song because all the noobs get on my tits. Sorry, but I'm a cranky old shite! I have a new song and new pics of my love, that's all that matters.

I think Ian has almost brought in the UN at times to stop auguments so many threads have been closed.

I now firmly believe some people like to argue - in fact, it's probably their only way to get attention that they know of! (and physical contact as well..) So, I figure, you get some people who really just say things to start fights, or to antagonize - just to draw a punch - some trends I've seen here in the the lovely USA and thought once to be only our special problem, I'm now realizing are global in nature..:dozey: Even You Tube has zillions of them! So, what was the name of that alien creature in Life, the Universe, and Everything that had one singular purpose and goal in life to insult every living creature in the universe?? :laugh3: I get the feeling there's more than one..
