For me (best to worst)...

1. Speed of Sound

2. Violet Hill

3. In My Place

4. Shiver

Releasing Clocks as the first single for X&Y was a huge mistake.

You can't deny that clocks is a great great song....even if you listen to Radiohead now.

I also don't like violet hill and this other song....but the parachutes and arobtth era was a great one...

In My Place is the strongest song by far. Nothing beats that opening drum beat and the explosion of shimmering guitars with the first chord of the song.

Pure brilliance, just like the rest of AROBTTH.

i dunno, i like them all.

um, strongest to weakest would have to be imo:

1.Shiver

2.In My Place

3.Violet Hill

4. Speed of Sound(ok song but...eh)

yay! I agree.

actually, i absolutely hate clocks. it's great live but i just think the studio version is so boring. and i would also like to defend fix you... because it was being really bashed a few pages back. you were all saying the lyrics were too much 'i love you gwynne' but why do you even think of that when you listen to a song? you should think of how it relates to yourself not the singer. and all opinions on music are OPINIONS. you cant just say FIX YOU IS CRAP. you can say you dont like it, but all music is up for personal interpretation so to say it like your stating a fact is wrong and annoying. i dont like clocks, but i dont think its a bad song. i totally see why other people like it, it just doesn't quite do it for me.

I guess you can't like every song that Coldplay makes. Just like I can't stand Gold in them Hills. BLEH.

and definitely. Fix You is a really good song.

Gold in Them Hills is crap. Oh wait, I mean I don't like it. :P

I agree: ofcourse is music a personal thing.

It's a tie between In My Place and Speed Of Sound for me. Both of those I thought weren't fantastic songs to start off with(Square One should have been a single on X&Y). Violet Hill is definitely their strongest first single thus far me thinks;)

Gah, I agree. I'm surprised I still have it on my iPod.

definitely. music is very personal. it's like a personal outlook of what you feel towards a song.

I had a Speed of Sound dream

That song haunts me now

strong to weak list

1.-shiver

2.-violet hill

3.-in my place

4.-speed of sound

they are all so different, but the most popular song from coldplay ever it's speed of sound, I mean for the mainstream, but it is the weakest from a musical point of view, the strongest ones must be violet hill and in my place imo

agree:P but i think shiver is a strong one too. but speed of sound is a weak but stil famus song:S and songs like green eays wiche is great songs but not famus:S its strange

was it a nightmarish dream?

no

i was just like on some space station

in space

and with the boys

and they were sort of doing the video

only i was seeing the final video

and it was kinda like talk

the music of it reminded me of talk too

that would have been better than rehashed-clocks

1) because that was our interpretation

2) we never said that they weren't just opinions

3) actually, yes, i can just say that

4) so what if i say it like i state a fact! that is the way i explain things so they're clear of any other interfering thoughts!

so what? i dont like fix you, i think its crap, i think the lyrics are too "i hart gwenyth", i state my opinions in a fact format. thats what i do, so you cant just come barging in here and screaming "NOOO! DONT SAY IT LIKE THAT THAT'S JUST WRONG", because that's equally as annoying
